Ponies and Trains

Wednesday, May 29, 2013

Wow, today's going to seem sort of boring compared to my blog yesterday, but that's alright. It's supposed to be beautiful out today, in the mid 80's, now THAT's something to celebrate.

These are rare days, lately, too bad we couldn't have had this during Memorial Day weekend, but that's alright, we survived and now it's coming this week, I'll take that. My daughter wants to go to two horse shows out of state, but she's not sure her bf will be going, so that means I'll probably be going with her, because she needs someone to help her with the ponies. I love going to the shows with her, but dang, it's a lot of work, but that's alright, I also love having the time with her. I'm so proud of her, she loves doing it, and as long as she does, I'll be there with her, if she wants me to be.

My son loves trains, and I'm really proud of him, I keep telling him that he should take all the photos he's taken of trains and make them into a book. He knows so much about each one of those engines, that he would be able to put together an amazing book, but he won't do it. I'm not kidding, he must have at least 4 of those BIG photo albums filled with every engine that's come through Janesville, and most that's come through Rochelle, IL; not all, but a lot of them. He can tell, by the whistle alone, what the engine is, where it's going, etc etc. He's done it many times up at the River, and it's just amazing to see him do it.

Anyway, I have to get my exercises done, I hope you all have a great day. emoticon

How many ponies does your daughter have.
I agree your son could make a great book. I think it is awesome. I wish I had something as cool as trains to take pics of.
Have a good day emoticon

Great Memorial Day Weekend

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

We had a great weekend, though it was cloudy and/or rained a couple of the days, and it was cool besides, we still had fun. Some people down the way from us had a chicken on a spit night and everyone available came and had supper there. The chicken was great, everyone brought a dish to pass.

We all went fishing, caught some HUGE bluegills on Saturday and Sunday (not as many on Sunday), husband, son, and daughter caught some nice Bass, a couple of Walleye and Northern at another spot from where I was fishing on the Dam.

It was a wonderful weekend and we all had a lot of fun, couldn't take the boat out because the water is WAY high on the Mississippi from the rains in MN, but hopefully next time we're up there, that'll change.

This was Gator resting on the way up to the trailer, he sat in the backseat of the car while I drove.

Son, Scott, and the fish he and my husband caught.

Daughter, Brande, and her perch.

Bluegills and Rock Bass caught.

Scott and his Bass

Brande and her Bass

Brande and one of the Walleyes

While up there, I got in some exercise, walked 1.5 miles each day I was there, plus a quarter to half mile walk at least once a day, in addition. It was a great weekend, wish I could have posted all I did on my tracking area, but oh well, I know I did it, and that's what's important, right?

Have a great week!

Sounds like a great weekend. Love all the pictures. I use to fish all the time and it is so much fun when you pull that fish in and even better eating them.

Getting ready...sick dog

Thursday, May 23, 2013

Well was going to go up to the trailer tomorrow, with daughter and send the dog, son and daughters bf all together today, but the dog got sick today, from eating some old bones he found somewhere, so we've got to wait until tomorrow to make sure he's alright. Poor pup, I feel sorry for him, he's been outside going to the br constantly, and then tossed cookies once on the kitchen rug. He was so excited about going up there, but it'll only be a few hours difference as we'll be leaving in the morning. The others will be going tonight, but not until around 730 as my brother in law has to go to his sons bday dinner somewhere and they couldn't wait and do it next week when he returns, they had to do it this week, go figure. So everyone has to wait for him to finish eating and then leave. Some things just tend to get screwed up because of stuff like that (his son is in his mid 30's, if he was a young kid it'd be different).

What a way to start the weekend, can we begin over? I hope it goes much better, though the rain/storms that are forecast and chilly weather isn't going to help much. I hope you all have a nice weekend. emoticon

The study yesterday was so interesting they're doing so much more than they'd done before. They started testing a new machine that could do away with using a needle to poke the skin in order to test blood for various things, and only this one and another in, PA, I believe is the other, are the two testing it. All you do is place your forearm on a pad (sort of like you do on the arm of a chair) and rest it there for a few seconds, then remove it. It tests your blood by your skin cells, or through them or something. Whatever it is, there is no pain at all, you're just relaxing and bam, it's done. They took blood the regular way, to compare the results, but you can get results instantly and you don't have to wait until the lab sends you the results back. It's fantastic. I hope the FDA approves it and it works like they want it to, that would be great for so many reasons.

See, this is why I love being in these studies. I said I've been in this study since the 1980;'s but it's been since 1975 or 1976, I don't recall it was right after I became diabetic, and so much has come from it. They use the studies to improve on things used to treat it, not only for the eyes, but for things like testing the blood, and such like that. I love doing it, they do this every 5 years, plus it also helps me in I end up getting a thorough eye test during that time. This time they added different ultrasounds on my arteries in my neck, did a total foot check (foot care is so important in diabetes), and so many other things which is important.

Anyway, that was how my day was yesterday, I hope you had a great day, too. Oh, we had some big storms last night, hard winds blowing, but not like Moore, OK, my prayers are with all those down there, how sad. May you all find peace in these hard
