I'm Back...

Well I'm back. It has been a minute but I'm back and really ready to continue on my journey. Since I was last active on SP I had started a new job that was really demanding of my time and less than a year into it I got injured. I work for our city's public transportation system called COTA (Central Ohio Transit Authority) and back in December when we got some really bad icy weather I slipped and fell off the bus and tore my right rotator cuff. I just had surgery back on May 29th and it has been a month today and I'm back on the mend.
After being down for a month, I've come to the realization that I'm not a person who can just sit around. While I'm trying to make the best out of not having to work and enjoy the summer...I am so ready to go back to work. As long as I'm in good health I'm not for sure when or if I'll every retire. Being single with no children, work is all I have.
Oh well, life is good and it continues. I'm just going to make the best of it.

500 Days & Counting

Tuesday, October 30, 2007 marks my 500th day as a SP member. I could talk about the shouda, coulda and woulda's but I'm just glad to have found this site and while I've not been as successful within these 500 days as a SP member I am proud of what I have accomplished thus far. I look forward to doing better, making more friends and continue to encourage and support others through my achievements here on SP!!!

My Completed Birthday Challenge

Well the 18th of August has come and gone I'm a year older and I weighed in at 273, nine pounds down from my starting weight of 282. My desired goal was 41 pounds which was a little ambitious in anyones book. But I'm happy. I lost the 9 without much effort so I know if I do a little more and can continue to lose more.

Birthday Goal Update...

Just a few days shy of a month into my goal and I've went from being 9 pounds ahead of the goal to 9 pounds behind my goal. But I'm still optimistic.
I realized that my goal was very challenging from the start but to me honest with myself, I've done what I've needed to just to keep up a healthy pace, but I've not really pushed myself to get past that plateau I hit a week or so ago.
So far I've been doing some type of physical activity for 60 minutes each day, but nothing to really bring out that sweat to snap my body back into that fat burning zone I need it to be in. So hopefully this week I'll kick it up a notch and see what next weeks weigh-in brings me.

Hey your doing great look how far you have come.Keep it up you will get there.I was suppose to start last week with my exercise routine but lovely mother nature paid a visit and I hate to exercise like that.No excuse just real uncomfortable.I guess I will be having to kick but with the exercises to this week so I will be right with you working hard and sweating it out.You are gonna reach your goal look at how far you got, that is awesome.
Can't wait to see our progress from now til next week,we got it girl,we can do it.Have fun and stay focused

I've hit a plateau...

Despite my very physical week, I've hit a plateau and I've hit it hard. My week consist of a very physical job 3 to 4 days a week of constant movement on a average of 5 to 10 hours a day while at work.
I do some type of workout for at least 1 hour a day everyday of the week. Now my eating is not the best but it isn't all that bad either. And with all of that I can't get out of these 280's. I've done it a couple of times getting down to 277-279 area but I went right back up.
For the past 7 months of my life I've been really focused on my weight loss and developing a better lifestyle and I have seen some major changes and I also know that I'm going to hit a plateau every now and then, but this is crazy. I'm on a mission for my birthday and at this rate I'm not going to make it.

    How is your weight loss going? Try to hang in there. It looks like you are doing great so far. I know how you feel though. I started with a plateau. I am trying to get beyond the same 10 pounds that I keep gaining and losing all month.

    Hello, trust me I know how you feel a few months ago I did the same I lost 12lbs and when I got stuck I got discouraged and gave in, but not this time. I know I can do it this time and you my dear seem like a strong willed person I know you will get there "DO NOT" let it discourage. I know that I can this time because I have sparkpeople like you to keep me motivated before I had no other means of motivation.Girl keep your head up high we can beat this.

  Don't beat yourself up too bad here! I know it is frustrating when you don't see results. It is great to have goals, but make sure your goals aren't too high - 4lbs a week is a lot to lose. That's a shortage of 14,000 calories a week! That means you need to be really, really strict about what you are eating and keep up the exercise. Most of the time people recommend 1-2lbs/week for safe lasting weight loss. Yes you can lose more by doing all kinds of different tricks but that will come back to bite you later in the form of a slower metabolism.

Are you tracking your eating in the food log? You say your eating is "not that bad" but if you are working out and eating right but still not losing either pounds or inches something is wrong. Either you are eating way too much or not exercising as much as you think. Log everything and see what you are really might be surprised. When I started logging my "not too bad" eating habits I realized I was at almost 2000 calories a day and that just wasn't working.
