I get it

Thursday, October 01, 2009

My 21 day is fast approaching. I am feeling good on the Food Lovers Fat Loss System. My husband is on the program and that has made a big difference as well as all the support from Spark people.

I think back on all the diets I have been on and how all I ever learned was how to cheat not only with food but the scale as well. Sure eventually it all catches up and you have to face the fact you have been cheating. I walked away from many diets feeling hungry, ashamed and deprived.

I have been fat since I was in second grade and spent a summer bored eating all day at my grandparents house. I remember the teacher offering a little boy 2 candy bars to dance with me. I ran out of the classroom and hid in the bathroom. I didnt want to dance with a boy that needed to be paid to do it. I realized that food and love were the same. If you loved me you gave me food and let me have the quarter pounder and the fries and the Coke. My parents didnt love me they made me choose. They said I had to drink Diet Shasta not Coke. I was only free to eat what I wanted when I went to birthday parties or any parties where the food was layed out like a buffet. I had my wisdom teeth pulled when I was in my teens and my mouth swelled like a chipmunk. I managed to gain 5 pounds during that time.

As I grew older and entered the dating world food was my comfort. No I didnt go to prom but I ate like King Henry gorging on snack foods, pies and submarine sandwiches from 7-11. Food was my friend and for a while I felt good until the food rush wore off and I started feeling sick. Okay time to try yet another diet. I would do good for a week maybe longer and then I would wrap myself up in cupcakes, chips, frozen snickers bars and a Coke. The cycle begins again. Lose then gain then gain more then lose then gain more. What will it take for me to finally get it?

When I met my Husband Fred he was 70 pounds lighter than me. After awhile he became 4 pounds heavier than me. I didnt lose weight he gained it. When we got married 2 years after I moved to Arizona I was at my heaviest weight ever. Fred and I tried many diets together. He would do great and I would be begging for a day off to eat what I was craving. He would eventually give in and we would stray down the path of no return. You would think with all the years I have been on diets I would have learned something by now. What will it take for me to finally get it?

I have to say that doing the Food Lovers Fat Loss System for a little over two weeks has taught me alot. I have learned that you can eat when you are hungry and still lose weight. I have learned breakfast is a very important meal and it kicks starts your metabolism. The most important lesson I have learned is that I control food and it does not control me. I am no longer afraid of food and losing control. I realize now that when I am crazy hungry I make crazy choices. By keeping my body fueled and feeding it when it needs food I keep crazy choices away. There is nothing in this world I can not eat as long as I plan for it. It has taken me 47 years but I finally get it.

I am looking forward to my 21 day results which is right around the corner. I am grateful for the lessons I have learned and am still learning on my journey. I am so grateful for finding an eating lifestyle I can live with and not a diet. I will live and loose with this program while enjoying every bite.

Hugs,

Tina

I think many of us can relate to your history. I crave all that stuff and I eat it and feel physically terrible. When I'm eating well, I feel so much better. So why would I ever not eat well? It just doesn't make sense. But I do it - all the time.

I try to remind myself to take it one day at a time. If I think about doing anything forever, I get overwhelmed.

I can't wait to hear how your 21 days netted out!

The nice thing about FLFLS is the whole family can benefit from it. Imagine kids knowing right from the get-go how to eat and how much...and also how important being active is. I agree: it does feel good to know you can eat and not be afraid of eating. Here's wishing you all the best on Day 21!!!

Week 2 Still Going Strong!

Thursday, September 24, 2009

Have I finally found a life style I will stick to forever? I truly believe I have! I can not believe how easy this program is. It is thursday of week 2. According to folks on the biggest loser week two is usually a hard week because your body is now getting used to the change. Some folks gain weight or do not lose on week 2. I have no fear of that with this program. I am definately a Food Lovers Fat Loss System Fan! I need to start working exercise into our routine. I need to get more water in. I have not perfected all this but I am still losing weight and feeling better. I am no longer afraid to eat! I look foward to eating. I know there is nothing I can not have if I want it bad enough. If I crave a brownie the program has a recipe for them. Sure it is modified to make it a bit healthier but it is still a brownie. I feel so freed by this program. So many times I have started a program and been confused or starving or craving all the foods they told me I could not have. I do not do well when you tell me I can not have something. I then will only think about that which you said I can not have. Growing up I was defined by what I could not have. This program does not box me in.

I went to the doctor on Tuesday and he was very pleased with my blood sugar. Like a typical doctor he said how many calories are you eating I said it depends on the day around 1400 to 1800. He was like how about making it around 1600. I said I do not want to be defined by a number right now I just started this program it is working lets not fix something that is not broken! This is not my first time to the weight loss rodeo. I know myself very well. You start adding restrictions to me and I start down the trail of denial and regrets. Before you know it I get amnesia and do not recall trying a new eating program because of the cravings or limitations I end up giving into them. I know I will reach a point where my weight will hold tight and not budge and I will have to cut down the calories some more. I am hoping by that point I will already be wanting less because my stomach will be shrinking since I am no longer eating huge meals but smaller meals through out the day.

I set a year long goal to reach 220 pounds. I have not weighed that for over 20 years. I honestly believe it is possible and more! I still have clothes in bins from when I was that weight. Honestly I never thought I would ever get back into them. I would dream of one day being a size 20 or 22 again. One thing I have always had is the dream of what I wanted but with all those other programs out there I got bored and lost the drive. Many times I would do well and then get tired of the same old food. I need to be able to treat myself now and then. The problem with past diets is that I felt so deprived that once I treated myself I didnt want to go back on the diet. I am so happy that Food Lovesr is not a diet. It does not feel like one it is a way of life! All I can say is for me it is the solution to a life long dream that I know will finally be a reality.

Started FLFLS on Monday September 14, 2009

Friday, September 18, 2009

We started on Monday doing the quick start. We have been eating the fat loss meals from day 1. So far we love it. I can see us eating this way for the rest of our lives. I usually never eat breakfast. My perfect darling husband makes us breakfast in the morning and we eat together before he goes to work. I can not believe how much a difference eating breakfast and eating every 3 hours has made. I am eating more consistantly than I have ever. This new way is keeping me satisfied and feeling good. I no longer dread eating or do the feast and famine eating. You know eating a huge meal and feeling hungry 2 hours later so you snack on a little chocolate and then you are hungry a bit later. The food lovers has me eating consistantly that I do not have those sugar dips. I dont need a nap in the afternoon and I look forward to every meal and snack. I can not wait to see the results!

Food Lovers System

Sunday, August 23, 2009

We just got back from Barnes and Noble Saturday night where we bought a bunch of books on life style and eating changes. We spent over $100.00 and I saw the food lovers infomercial and decided to take the books back and do this program instead. Since the program was 120.00 and 20 for shipping it was actually cheaper than the books we bought. It sounds like it would be a lot easier to follow than the books I bought, which I have to admit usually gets me confused as they tend to not spell things out and leave a lot to intrepretation which for me leads to failure. I did the one payment for expidited shipping and it is being shipped to my husband's work so I do not have to worry about it being left out in the rain. We live in AZ and it is monsoon season and they do not seem to have a schedule on when they hit. They offered a bunch of other stuff you could buy with it but I only bought the system. The system seems like it has all you need and I didn't see the need to spend more money on something I have not even tried yet. From what I have read on Food Lovers group board everyone is doing well on it. They seem to be losing slowly which is good because then you know its not a fad diet but actually a life style change.

I can not wait for this system to arrive. I just hope I can keep my excitement up until it does. I have found that the infomercial gets you excited and then the product takes so long to arrive that you have lost your excitement and drive. My husband Fred and I will be doing this together and we are going to eat better while we are waiting for the system to arrive.
