I don't know what's going on with my Spark People account. I've had to go into my preferences section twice in the last 2 weeks to reactivate my subscriptions to message boards and people's blogs.

Very frustrating.

Some Major Irrational Beliefs

Saturday, May 04, 2013

Clearing out the old stuff from the house.
Some of my old papers.
I'll be sharing some of them.
Mostly good for a laugh.
This one still makes a lot of sense - some good thoughts for Spark People making good changes.

Please remember, these are assumptions I think most of us hold on some level, some internal messages we can well do without:

You must be loved and approved of by everyone.

You must do perfectly in all respects.

A person who acts badly is a bad person.

It is terrible, horrible, awful and catastrophic when things aren't going the way you want them to.

Your happiness is caused by other events or people rather than by how you think or talk to yourself.

If something is unpleasant, you should be preoccupied and continually upset over it.

Things that have happened in the past are all-important, need to be continually worried about, and limit your possibilities for the future.

People and things should be different from what they are, and it is catastrophic if perfect solutions cannot be immediately found.

Behaviors that worked for someone else, or which formerly worked for you, are what must be followed.

And I'll close on a positive note, not an irrational belief:

Tomorrow is a new day.

Oh, boy. Most of us (me) have certainly believed those things. The best thing is that we can recognize how irrational it is to believe any of that.

I struggle with the perfection one.

Remember as tough as it is...you can't hide forever. Inch your way out into the world again. I would bet there is some wonderful surprise waiting for you!

Another Non Blog

Saturday, April 27, 2013

Umm. Some people have been gently chiding me for not having been as active recently.

Sorry. I guess I've been a little, 1.) busy getting ready for the new closing date for my house, 2.) feeling a little low with all the changes going on. It does get a little stressful.

Maybe I'll go play a little World of Warcraft. My son keeps talking about it.

Anyway, Howdy. Thanks for the comments. :)

I haven't seen you at the cybercafe for a while, either. I decided you were hiding in your man cave. Seriously, though, selling a house is very stressful, as is going through a divorce. You'll get through it, just don't be too hard on yourself.

Always good to see you posting, ALDEBARANIAN. Life *can* get in the way of Sparking, but Sparking *can* help a guy face life . . . .
Hang in there, Friend.

Hang in there, Aldy! Change can be really stressful, but nothing gets better without it.

Struggling Forward

Tuesday, April 16, 2013

Having a hiccup in the house sale. The out of state appraisal firm messed some things up. Realtor is still confident, but it will delay the closing.

Got that phone call the same day I was struggling with tax forms and divorce paperwork for the court. Not a good day. But...

Spent over three hours dealing with the paperwork. Brain usually goes "tilt" after a half hour. I'm thinking things are improving with some of the stress taken care of. Actually slept better the last couple of nights in spite of it all.

On the positive side, decided to cope by going for a walk instead of drinking a beer (one beer is like a binge for me, two compares to a bender for most folks :) ).

Can't call it light at the end of the tunnel though, I hear the train coming.

Not easy, what you're going through. Congrats on keeping your head up and for taking advantage of your Spark support network. Also good on ya for taking a walk instead of a beer. That's a very good step forward!
Hang in there, baby. Friday's coming! : )

Good for you that you used your stresses as a reason to get outside and getting moving! Sounds like a bad day, but you coped with it well and tomorrow is a new one. I hope it's better for you!

Get off the track! I'm sorry for such a bad day. Tax day every year sends me to ice cream. This year is the first time we have had ours done early and we managed a refund we haven't had in years.

Although the divorce paperwork and taxes were awful you dealt with them. You can get back to taking care of you!

Court Date

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

Had my last date with my wife yesterday. In court. We waived the 21 day waiting period for the divorce to become final. I should be able to hit the road when we close on the house sale. Look out Phillip Harlow, I'm coming looking for you.
