What's making that noise?

Does anybody know what those things are in the trees that make noise? They seem to get louder as the weather gets hotter.

I remember the hot summer days at my granddaddy house, especially into the evenings hearing the cicadas. All the kids called them chickadees. Funny you should ask ! ! ! I was watching the news last evening and that was the question they asked. They said it was the cicadas making that noise and responded the same way that MORTICIAADDAMS did....They start up every year mid to late summer. Someone told me that sometimes the buzzing comes from tree frogs, not cicadas. But I'm not sure how you tell the difference between the two. Anyway, enjoy the summer music -- it will be winter before we know it! Report Inappropriate Comment

Without hearing the sound, I'm not sure what you are hearing. The first thought that comes to mind is ciscada (not sure on the spelling)which are grasshoppers. Braces too?

My son is going for a consultation for braces. Uggggggggh! I remember when my daughter had them. She actually did pretty good with them, because most of the restricted foods were things she didn't eat. But my son...well that's another story.

At my last appointment my dentist asked me if I wanted to consider getting braces.
I declined. I did have a friend who got some a few years ago. She said it was something she always wanted to do.

I don't want to see the dentist any more than I absolutely have to. There aren't many things that scare me in this life, but the dentist is one of them.

I seldom see the dentist too and it's really terrible when something wrong happened during the surgery or afterwards, I had a lossen jaw after the removal of my 4 wisdom teeth, that troubled me for mouths and when I opened my mouth wide the jaw will dislocate and I have to reduce it myself otherwise I cannot close my mouth...... The thought of the dentist makes me cringe and I wore braces for two years. Lost my retainer now I have to get them all over again dern it! I don't wanna but I am gonna because its worth the pretty smile. Both my daughters suck their thumbs so guess what? Oh...my gosh...I have dentist horror stories too...from the time I was a tiny kid I was always LOCKED in the dentist's chair...worse than 'Friday the 13th' movie! Shudders...and now...I'll have to face that scary story again...I've avoided the dentist for so long that I can hardly chew...and although it certainly SLOWS down my eating which is a GOOD thing...it is something I have to address for my health...RATS...HATE the thought!!! I am 24 and have had my braces for 2 years now. I too was very excited about having my teeth fixed until about 4 months into treatment. I ended up having 7 teeth pulled at one time and during that surgery my jaw was dislocated so I was put umder anesthesia two more times over the next month to replace it correctly. It was a night mare. And just when I thought it was all over with the topic of another surgery to break my jaw and wire it shut cam up. I refused this unless absolutely life threatening necessary. My doctor's response?... Ok well we are going to install these springs in your mouth on your next visit in order to attempt to move your law completely, but if this doesn't work then we will have to resort to the surgery. THESE SPRINGS ARE THE SIZE OF MY PINKY FINGER!!!! I am not excited. I get those put in on Sept 1. So the moral of my story... Don't be scared! Just go for it. You will hate it during that treatment but it will be worth it in the end! Report Inappropriate Comment

I found this website on SP. Hungry Girl always tells you what a day or month is known for. For instance this month is National Sandwich Month. Then she gives you facts and recipes for the event. I wonder who makes up all these dates.
