Happy Thursday

Thursday, June 10, 2010

It's a good day to get out and work in the yard. Looking out the window this morning I saw a baby mole. He must have gotten lost or left behind. He was trying to dig his way somewhere but he kept running into the bricks.

Life is Good......God is Good

Wednesday, June 09, 2010

I just want to say how grateful I am for the life I have. My family is well, SparkPeople friends make my day, and I'm just in a place where I appreciate life. I have issues just like everyone else, but I'm learning how to look at those issues as blessings. We take so much for granted .

So today I say.....

Interval walking

Tuesday, June 08, 2010

Yesterday I tried interval walking. I read about it in an SP article. You change your pace 4 times as you walk. It goes like this: Slow-2 mins., brisk - 1 min., moderate-2 mins., fast-1 min. Then you start over again. emoticon

It was something different and the time went fast. I'll probably do it a few times a week for a while, because I've gotten bored with my regular routines. I also want to find time to do the exercise balls and the bands. I have a set, but it's still in the box. emoticon

Enjoy your day and do something special for yourself today. Even if it's just speaking a kind word to yourself.

Intervals are the best way to lose weight. You will do well and be pleased with the results. Thank you for sharing. I have not read that article. I think I will add this to my routine.

Sounds like a plan. Exercise can become boring - have to change off once in awhile. emoticon emoticon

I like interval training when I am on an eliptical, treadmill, or stationery bike. I have done it once or twice while walking and probably should more often just to mix things up a bit. Seems smart. Have a great day.

What about this wacky weather?

Monday, June 07, 2010

This weather is crazy. The weekend was humid and muggy and this morning was in the low 50's and very cool. It warmed up to 70's eventually.

Oh well what can you do...get out and enjoy it.

The Zoo and Going Green

Sunday, June 06, 2010

Personally I don't care for the concept of zoos, because I feel that animals shouldn't be kept in cages. But I understand how much good they do for the animals that are there. They had a lot of information on the programs that help support a number of animal organizations.

A few things I'm concerned about is how the rain forest has been destroyed, how the number of elephants and other animals have been severely decreased, and I was surprised that a lot of companies contribute to these issues by using material and ingredients in their products.

I'm going to check more into the products I use in order to do my part to go green.

Zoos can do a lot of good, and not just for the animals in captivity. They help with scientific research & mating captive animals to help repopulate endangered species in the wild. I understand your point about animals not belonging in cages, & I'm sure there are unscrupulous zoos out there that mis treat the animals, but there are also lots of zoos that do a lot of good (The San Diego Zoo, The Columbus Zoo, & my personal Favorite The Cincinnati Zoo are all very active in scientific & conservation endeavors around the word).

As for the going green thingy, I think one of the biggest changes anyone can make is to try to support your local (organic if possible) farmers markets & food suppliers.

Good luck

Chuck
