Surgery update

Friday, November 18, 2011

Hello sparkfriends!
It's 4:15 on the morning after my surgery and I'm laying here in the hospital not being able to sleep. According to my family, the surgery went well and with less issues than had been anticipated.
I'll see the surgeon today after breakfast sometime. I'll let everyone know what she has to say.
My pain is fairly high so I'm in and out of it - I'll keep you guys in loop.

Cristin

Update

Friday, November 11, 2011

Hey Everyone!
I haven't updated anything on here lately just because of how busy everything has been around the house. I am getting ready for the surgery scheduled next thursday and trying to get everything done around the house. I know that I am overdoing it because I am trying to get so much stuff done. I just am having to fight the frustration of not getting everything done. I have a couple great friends of mine coming to help finish everything that I need to get done including getting menu's planned.
My wonderful better half is planning on cooking while I'm down and recovering so I am trying to get all of that stuff planned ahead. I am struggling with the nerves about this whole surgery thing and I am feeling totally helpless because I know that there is so much that I won't be able to do while I am recovering for 8 weeks.
I have actually lost some more weight and am celebrating wearing a size 6 now. I can't believe that I am in a size that is smaller than before I got pregnant with my first child. I have so much to thank this website for and all of my wonderful SparkFriends who have helped me along the way! I will try to keep all of you informed about how everything goes!

Talk to you all soon!

Surgery Update

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Surgery is scheduled for November 17th! I am finally getting scheduled and getting this cancer out of me! I know most people would not be excited about a hysterectomy as I am but I can't wait. The recovery will be 8 weeks and I am getting everything in place to help me take care of the family while I am down.

My weight has stayed fairly stable and I am keeping up with an exercise routine but I am not pushing myself as hard as I was before my diagnosis. I had to break away from my boot camp and a few other things that I was doing at the gym because my energy level was just not there.

Thank you all for keeping me going.

God's blessings on the surgery. I will be praying for you. Cancer doesn't always win!!! Yoo hoo. My paternal grandmother died from female cancer in a time when you didn't even mention you were pregnant, much less suffering "that" kind of disease. Medicine has come a long way. You will spring back so much better now than you could have at 410#! God is good.

Week update!

Fresh Veggies! School has started again! Its starting to get cooler at night :( .
That's Alaska for you. It has been rainy the past few days so my pain level has been higher lately than normal.
I have tests scheduled for September 8th and as soon as we have those results then I can schedule my surgery! I know it sounds weird to be excited about having a surgery but from a few people that I have talked to, not only will this take care of the cancer but should help me with some of the other issues that I am having.

I seem to be better managing my stress level and am feeling fairly good most days, but we all have those off days for sure. I am a little off today just because of the pain level being high but I am doing good for sure.

Talk to you all soon!

Fresh Veggies!!!

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

Last night I got to harvest broccoli, cauliflower, and cheddar flower from my garden. Cheddar cauliflower is a milder tasting cauliflower and it has 25% more beta carotene than regular cauliflower. I was so happy to have fresh veggies and the family and I sat down and snacked on them while we were waiting on dinner to finish.

I spent part of Sunday in the emergency room of my local hospital because of an infection in my thumb which turned out to be cellulitis and staph. I had to do three doses of i.v. antibiotics and now I am on a 10 day regimen of 2 different oral antibiotics. I am so sick of taking all these extra meds that I could scream but what can I do? I am glad that I got my thumb taken care of though because when I got into the ER the doctor made the comment that I had blood poisoning starting.
I am so ready for everything to calm down around my house. I have to go have more tests done before I can schedule my hysterectomy and it has been crazy at work. The kids are getting ready to start school again and although I am excited about that I am also bummed because that means the start of fall and our ever long winters. We haven't gotten school clothes shopping done or anything because of how crazy the month of July was.

I have to go finish a project at the office and then I am off to a followup with the Dr.
Talk to you all soon!

I'm happy you caught that infection before it spread! My mom also had it. She had a port put in and I was able to administer the antibiotics at home under the care of a home health care nurse.

Enjoy those fresh veggies while you can!!

Way to go on the veggies!

Hope your cellutis clears up soon. My mom had that in her leg a few months ago, she had to go the hospital twice a day for IV antibiotics for a few weeks.
