What's gonna work? Teamwork!

Thursday, January 29, 2009

As I started to write this blog, I didn't have a title. Lo and behold, Wonder Pets came on the tv screen. One of their theme songs came to mind. "What's gonna work? Teamwork!" They are singing in the background as I am typing away!

What a better way to start the day? To realize the best way through this life is with teamwork. "When we work together we've got the right stuff." Maybe we need to take the time to listen to more kid's shows more often. There are a lot of valuable life lessons that we teach our children, but we forget as we get older. Resort back to that inner child and find those lessons again!

Hey Girlfriend, you are so right on about listening to kids programs more often. I get inspired by Nemo, I mean we are talking a daddy fish that never gives up, and the "Just keep swimming" of Dori rings in my head when I am needing some motivation, how much more do you need. I love kid's movies and the positive messages that they send. People think hubby and I are crazy cause we don't have little ones at home anymore but I just can't help it. I can watch one over and over and each time see something new that I didn't see the last time or come away just feeling better. emoticon

You're so right about forgetting the things we want to instill in the children. I forget it often (I don't have kids of my own, but 7 nieces/nephews keep me on my toes).

It's almost Friday!!

If you give a mom a muffin...

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

If you give a mom a muffin, she'll want a cup of coffee to go with it. She'll pour herself some. Her three-year-old will spill the coffee. She'll wipe it up. Wiping the floor, she will find dirty socks. She'll remember she has to do laundry. When she puts the laundry in the washer, she'll trip over boots and bump into the freezer. Bumping into the freezer will remind her she has to plan supper. She will get out a pound of hamburger. She'll look for her cookbook. (101 Things To Make With A Pound Of Hamburger.) The cookbook is sitting under a pile of mail. She will see the phone bill, which is due tomorrow. She will look for her checkbook. The checkbook is in her purse that is being dumped out by her two-year-old. She'll smell something funny. She'll change the two-year-old. While she is changing the two-year-old the phone will ring. Her five-year-old will answer and hang up. She'll remember that she wants to phone a friend to come for coffee. Thinking of coffee will remind her that she was going to have a cup. She will pour herself some. And chances are, if she has a cup of coffee, her kids will have eaten the muffin that went with it.

Finding & sharing the light

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Hello everyone!
Long time since I have been here. I think I am ready to come back. It will be a slow start - but I don't want my flame to blow out right away.

Hubby is going to be out of town until Saturday night. I am using these next days to focus on me. We have had two snow/ice days from school with one being today. Today I am going to figure out where my focus is going to lie. I am going to make a list of things I want to accomplish each day and keep a journal. I have done this whole process before and know I can do it again. I am choosing to not join any challenges right now because they tend to stress me out. I am setting a 30 min timer each day so I don't stress myself out by being on SP - I spend too much time and get to involved and then feel guilty when I don't visit everyone I want to visit or do all the things I want to do. If at the end of the day I have extra time, I will come back.

Anyway - happy new year to all my friends. I will come by and see you all soon. Here is to each of you WONDERFUL friends who have been there and are still there for me!

PS - I have started a jewelry business. It is called prairie creations. Check it out

Doctor results

Saturday, December 20, 2008

I wanted to share my doctor results with you. I had bloodwork for insulin resistance/diabetes, thyroid, annemia, and low potassium levels run. I am perfectly healthy. No signs of anything! Good thing, right?

Now I am being treated for depression. The one med I was prescribed was $150 for one month! I told the doc - nope - and he had to prescribe a new one. So, I hope to be seeing improvements in the next few weeks.

I can't believe Christmas is a few days away. We have hammered through numerous parties and get-togethers. Next Tuesday we head out of town until Saturday. We do the 12 days of Christmas around here. All the reindeer bring a gift one day that is no more than $2 but mostly $1. Then Rudolph, Momma, Daddy days are worth around $4. Santa brings the big gift of around $20 on Christmas along with the stockings. This year I miscounted the days! WHOOPS - we are going to have to add Mrs. Claus on Christmas Eve! Anyway - we spend a lot less money this way. About $120 total for all three kids, and the kids get to enjoy each present for a day before getting another one. Who knows if this will work when they get older - but right now it is perfect!

If I am not back on before Christmas - please have a safe and merry one.

i'm glad to hear your health is good. I hope you find a med that works and doesn't cost so much. Sheesh!! I can't believe how expensive it is. I love your idea for the 12 days of Christmas. It's great, but then again, you always have great ideas! Have a beautiful, happy day!

Ang, I'm glad that you are clear for diabetes, thyroid, anemia, and low potassium. I hope you will feel better soon. I like your family's tradition of 12 days of Christmas. A little excitement for the kids everyday!

You're in my thoughts and prayers, my friend. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Ang, I'm glad to hear that your bloodwork came back ok, but I'm sorry to hear that they are treating you for depression. Maybe you could try taking part in activities that make you happy to try to trigger the release of dopamine (the feel good hormone) in your brain. Working out actually helps this a lot.

Have a Merry Christmas!

I am so glad that the results were good. Hope the meds help out. The 12 days deal is a great way to work the gift giving. It makes the kids appreciate and enjoy each one. Too many parents just give them all to them at once and there are some things that never get played with lots of times. You are such a creative momma!! Hope you all have a Wonderful Christmas!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Found - Crazy woman living in my home

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

Well, I have done a lot of searching - and I have found one CRAZY woman in this house! It is me. I am going to the doc on Thursday. I am having tests run for blood sugar levels. If the insulin is not causing all this emotional yuck, then I am willing to go back on anti-depressants.

It has been insanely busy - this week alone has a function EVERY night or day. It all started last week on Friday - and it just isn't ending. Tis the season as people say - but man - who can keep up with this?

I am not quite back to SP yet. I don't think I will be fully functional here until after Jan 12. I run a choir retreat in Texas that weekend. Until then, I am simply running with too many commitments. Yes, I need to learn how to say NO! But in regards to SP - I don't think I will come back with the same goals as when I started. SP will need to be in moderation - but I have said that one before haven't I. I tend to get to addicted!

Oh - the preschool job is going fine. I enjoy it.

I wish each one of you who read this a wonderful Merry Christmas. Thank you for always being there for me. Each one of you are special! Remember that!

Ang
