6 month Spark anniversary

Thursday, August 14, 2008

6 months from the beginning of starting SP, 34 pounds gone as of this am. That's not too shabby. That's about two sizes in clothes also.

I'm still plugging away and have resigned myself to about 5 pounds a month loss now is what it seems I'm averaging.

I'm still on 1400-1700 in calories and I do 3500 calories burned of exercise a week, up a lot from the beginning when I could barely get off 15 minutes on the elliptical. My BMI is down around 30 from I think it was in the 34ish range when I started.

I don't want the calories to drop too low or I will be unhappy, so I suppose I will eventually be increasing exercie a bit and I will slow down the rate of weight loss on the SP calculator too a bit. I think my next goal will be xmas and another 20 gone.

I wish I knew how much muscle I've put on, but a good bit as I look better than I think I should at this weight, and so far, no flab, no loose skin, no wrinkles, nothing bad at all, which I hope keeps up, doing it slowly is worth it if it means no bad consequences.

So there's the 6 month review... Feb 11 2009 will be the next 6 months down, a full year of SP.....

Wow! That's an awesome accomplishment. I didn't think about the lose skin issue - you're right, slow and steady is the best way to go.

My latest photo

Saturday, August 02, 2008

This is the newest photo I have of myself, taken about a week ago at a restaurant outside. Not too shabby. The strength training is doing wonders for my arms and shoulders for sure, it is worth all the work.

I'm on to a new strength training and exercise program having outgrown my old one and needing new challenges.

I'm doing 3 days of circuit training that combines strength training and some cardio at the front and back on the elliptical. I'm trying to save time and it both burns calories and gets the strength training done. Added to that, two or three good cardio workouts a week, step with the WiiFit, elliptical or walking for the moment.

So far so good, I'm down 30 from the beginning and slowing down but hopefully son off a long plateau.

Look at you, Girl! You look FABULOUS!! And it sounds like you are literally working your behind off! Good for you...
You can be my inspiration on the strength training. My gym is closed for remodeling this month, so I can't get to it as soon as I'd like. For now, it's free weights at home --- and trying not to hurt myself by doing it incorrectly. Your effort looks like it's paying off!
Again, I'm so glad for you. You get a gold star! Keep it up! emoticon

Into the 180's!!

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Into the 180's for the first time in a LOOOONG time this am! I'm thrilled! It is slow going, but obvously, this is all about patience and the long term. I can honestly say, there have been very very few days when I have been over on calories, a few under, there hasn't been any week when I didn't meet my fitness goals, and many when I have exceeded them and it STILL doesn't come off fast. I guess it is goihng to be like this for the duration.

On the bright side, my skin should stay nice and I know I'm gaining muscles, I can do triceps exercises with FAR more weight than my husband at this point and it makes him crazy.

Recent changes, more strength training including a nice little 50 a day challenge for the month of June that I will adapt for the months to come upping the reps each month.

More organicc food in the diet and a complete overhall on breakfasts most days to include organic whole wheat toast, one slice with PB and one with jam and FF milk, all organic produsts--quicker in the am, no thinking, good stuff and more calories in the am than I was getting before. To be continued..

Being sure most days to get a snack in at 4pm, fruit or veggies.

Most of my clothes don't fit anymore, a wonderful thing. I bought some new, just enough to get me on a bit longer...

OK, the goal is still 175 by the end of August, my original 1st goal, 14 pounds til then, I hope I can do it! Then will revise times and goals to continue.

Wow that is Awesome! It feels great to see some progress (even though its never fast enough for us...LOL). Ya know I'm really excited about doing the 50 a day exercises in July! I know I'll be gaining more muscle that I really need!

So happy for you! You are making so many healthy changes that things are GOING to keep tracking in the right direction! It's ALMOST (though not quite!) as much fun to see SP friends succeed as it is to do so myself. Woo hoo! This is great news...

Big compliments!

Monday, May 26, 2008

Got compliments from two people I hadn't seen in awhile--that's the trick, people who see you too often don't notice the losses. About 25 pounds goen since the beginning, people should be able to see a difference . It is nice to get compliments, I must resolve to compliment other pople more seeing how much of a boost it gave me.

To celebrate, I went to Mango, a snazzy Spanish store I usually find intimidating and probably wouldn't have been able to fit into anything a couple of moths ago. I saw a top in the window display that I liked last week, tried it and it fit and was great and summery. Also much brighter than what I might usually choose. Great customer service, fancy tissue paper wrapping and gift bags, I need to go more often.

Also weeded out more of the wardrobe this am, one more bra size gone, also a good gauge of loss.

A good day. Also, found a rice cooker and have resolved to make more rice to replace some of the pasta. Going to sauté veggies in a little sauce, maybe with some crab and have with rice for dinner.

You totally rock! I'm so proud of your success. You keep me motivated. I have been preaching SparkPeople to everyone I come across. With my job, I usually go 8-12 months before I see someone again. Every week, there is someone who hasn't seen me in a long time & I look forward to their reactions. It is so motivating. It makes me KNOW that I can't go back to the way I was!

Keep up the good work!

That sounds fantastic, I love crab! Much better than that veggie soup I made last night, I was missing ingredients and it didn't turn out so good. Oh well.

I ran into people I haven't seen in a few weeks and got lots of compliments too! Doesn't it feel wonderful? Stuff like that makes it hard to even consider going back to how you were before, no?

I am glad you had a good day. I love getting comments as well, that's a really motivational part of this weight loss journey.

I love Mango so much! But here in Norway, it's unfortunately a bit too expensive for me.. I just can't spend that much money on clothes.. But it seems much cheaper in the stores in London and stuff! :)

52.68 km in 2.5 days-33 miles, 87804 steps!! in London!

Monday, May 12, 2008

Walked A LOT in London, 52.68 kms, over 2.5 days, I wore a pedometer out of curiosity.

Great weather too in the high 70's and sunny. Walked through Kew gardens, Hyde Park, the West end, the southwest side, Harrod's, museums, etc etc.

Ate big, good, not English breakfasts, picnic lunches, very virtuous, and out for dinner, and ate anything I wanted including a big filet, as good as Chicago.

Bad foods included fish and chips, Krispy Kreme and other desserty stuff I almost never eat anymore, but I didn't go crazy, and figured I was walking off a lot of calories.

Thank goodness for the new pair of New Balance, made all the difference, 1 toe blister is all.
