I joined Spark People about a week ago. Baby steps, yo. I haven't been following the Spark diet (although it's inspired me for some yummy, healthy food)...I plan to incorporate more of the Spark diet after BlizzCon. I haven't even done any exercise. I'm afraid that if I go all-out in the first week, I'll burn myself out and quit too soon. Past experience has given me a heads-up about "PACE YOURSELF! PACE YOURSELF AND BUILD! You better do it this time, dumbass..." Heck, I haven't even gotten all my water in every day, although I made a noble effort.
But joining Spark HAS had a positive effect nonetheless. I know that I do better when I track the foods I eat. Being aware of what you ACTUALLY put in your mouth makes a HUGE difference. One of the main reasons I put on weight? Not eating enough, followed by eating too much.
There were days I was tempted to not track what I ate. That trip to McDonald's last Monday? "I'm just starting," my Stupid Brain tried to convince me. "I can let THIS one slide."
Thankfully, Smart Brain kicked in and said, "Hey...you're not publishing what you're eating for all the world to see. Better get in the good habits, and track everything. It's not about making the numbers on the tracker add up to what you want to see, it's about being aware of what you're doing." And so the Mcdonald's was registered on my food tracker.
Since I *did* step up the water routine, and I'm sure a good chunk of it was chopping off a LOT of hair, I still lost just over 2 pounds this week. Most of that, I'm certain, is the water weight. But hey...a loss is a loss, and I'll take it.
The water, the facial, even the new haircut all have contributed to making me "glow" this week. I'm going to maintain the food tracking while we're in California (yay new phone that I was able to download the Spark app onto!), and then step up my game when we get back. I'll have one day reprieve to prepare for our guild diet and fitness Game, and then it's going to be 4 weeks of being VERY AWARE of EVERYTHING I DO. The first game ends just before Thanksgiving, and we may start up a second Game the day after the first ends. We're going to have to see how well it goes first.
But hey! 2.2 pounds down from just drinking water and tracking my food so I can adjust accordingly (okay, and chopping my hair)...that's a good start to me! Next BlizzCon I think I WILL be wearing those costumes I have planned!

'Nuff said. ^_^

It's 7 am right now, and I've been awake since 5:30 when I woke up from desperately having to run to the bathroom. I REALLY need to invest in a night light, because after stumbling half-asleep to the bathroom and turning on the light, I woke up enough that I couldn't go back to sleep. Word to the wise: don't drink a lot of water just before bed if you want to avoid these morning biological wake ups.
Got back to bed, and I don't know what was going on, but the morning was filled with all kinds of sirens. Police cars, a firetruck or two...far enough in the distance, but close enough to wake me up even further. Argh.
So I guess this is the perfect time to write up a to-do list:
-Go to one of the better Sprint stores and see about a phone upgrade. ^_^ I'm looking at either an HTC Evo or a Samsung Epic right now.
-I still have that laundry load on my list. It's mostly t-shirts and my three jersey dresses, but I want to make sure that's not looming over me before we go next Wednesday.
-ZG run with Leo.
-Bank run to deposit those refund checks.
-Maybe stop by Victoria's Secret to see about replacing my favorite bra I managed to (color-wise) ruin. Why is "whisper pink" such a hard color to find? It's closer to my skin tone than most of the "nude" colors out there. (Those are usually too dark or not pink enough so they contrast too much under light weight and light colored shirts.)
-Stick my Nalgene bottles in the dishwasher so they get washed before The Guy fills it with other items.
-Poke at guildies for a Game On! commitment so I can set up the teams.
-Write that sub-rules page. Srsly this time.
-Start writing up a packing list for Blizzcon. Black J!NX t-shirts and jeans will be the staple wardrobe, but then I want to have at least one nicer outfit for dinner on Thursday, pajamas of course, electronic gadgets (iPad, Nintendo DS, phone, camera, PoGo mini-printer, net book?, and all the cords and chargers needed), maybe a book or two...and yet, leave enough room for the swag bag goodies.
I think that's it for now. We're probably going to get some lunch somewhere after our haircuts, so I should figure out a "stick to the ribs" breakfast. Even get in a bike ride while I can.
Here's to another productive day!

I got cockblocked on the laundry again. ARGH!
Made a double-batch of banana-chocolate muffins. They're Based on the Spark Recipe "Beth's Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins." I made a few changes via necessity (like having to do twice as many before the bananas went bad) and did things like used Egg Beaters instead of regular eggs. I had one fresh out of the oven. Was very tasty! I individually-wrapped the rest, put them in two Tupperware containers, and stuck them in the freezer. They're smaller than the Fiber One Banana Chocolate Chip muffins, but also fewer calories (155 vs. 180) and tasted heartier, like they'll keep you satisfied longer.
Afterward, I cleaned up the kitchen, washed all the dishes, etc. Feels good to get stuff done.
I also made a post to the guild fitness blog of favorite links. Yes, Spark People was one of them...the first on the list, in fact. XD
Leo and I have a pact that we're trying to change ourselves for the better...so each day we have a goal. A "1%" item that you want to complete by the end of the day. So for example, his is to go to all of his classes (despite not getting a lot of sleep last night), and go to bed at a reasonable hour tonight. Mine was to make the muffins and do that dang load of laundry. We check up with each other to see if we met our goals, and if we didn't, find out what got in the way. It's okay to not accomplish certain goals (like that DANG LOAD OF LAUNDRY) as long as we did something else to make up for it. It doesn't have to be the same thing every day as long as we're making a change and sticking to it.
And tomorrow? A change of a different sort. HAIRCUT APPOINTMENT! My profile pic is from the last cut I got. Probably going to go a bit shorter. It's a little TOO long at the moment. Nothing too drastic, but significant enough to me. Need to chop these split ends before I go crazy.
Finally: Fire mage DPS got hit with the nerf bat already. Ah well. It was to be expected. I'm not worried about my raid spot, though. If all you do is stand there and DPS, then you're not playing your class right, IMO. I know some people who are like that (especially one particularly ranty hunter) who get pissy when their DPS is nerfed. Same thing we said to shamans when Blizz announced mages will get a Bloodlust-like ability in Cata: If the only reason you're being brought to a raid is for one ability, you're doing it wrong. I'd rather bring along a hunter who has lower DPS but can kite the ever-living crap out of a mob so a potential wipe becomes a win than Dudefella who can top the charts, but ONLY when he plants his feet and does nothing else. Well, I'm a spell-stealing, de-cursing, crowd-controlling fiend who ALSO brings awesome deeps. Not worried at all. Of course, it's my (and The Guy's) guild, so not like I HAVE to worry, plus being the only active raiding mage at the moment helps. Even still, I'm taking a "Things will work out" approach. They always do.

I was really proud of yesterday. I added another item to the To Do list, and ended up getting 8/10 done. 8.5/10 if you want to be picky. I didn't get in the "sub-rules" for the guild blog page done, and because The Guy decided to sleep in, I didn't get my load of laundry done.
Okay, let me back up and express my frustration that that:
I bang around the kitchen, wash the dishes, run the dishwasher, wash the pots and pans, empty the dishwasher, put my lunch dishes into the dishwasher...I get FOUR articles written for the guild blog page (which is why I was okay with letting the sub-rules page slide)...I got bills paid, other pre-Blizzcon tasks completed, and even loaded Skype onto my netbook to happily discover that it will activate my defunct-since-I-upgraded-to-Win-7 webcam. (I honestly wasn't sure I'd even be able to use it again since the software got wiped during the upgrade.)
I knew that we'd have to go to the grocery store, and that we'd take out the garbage on the way out. That left the load of laundry.
The laundry room is right beside the master bedroom where The Guy was sleeping. So out of courtesy, I didn't run my laundry. He gets up, I tell him my plans, and then he says he needs to do laundry because he has nothing to wear.
And after that, he has to get a shower before we go out. Don't use any hot water on him, ha ha!
I mean, seriously?! I was hoping to mark everything off my list (because I could have if he hadn't been sleeping!) and not only was it put on hold because he was sleeping, but he swooped in at the last minute and ganked my laundry time.
Nrgh. Okay. I'm okay, and will need to do laundry again before we leave next week anyway. I was just looking forward to having my list DONE.
Today I had my first facial EVER. Awesome day spa, and I can't wait to go back. Definitely worth it, although now I feel like jello.
I'm supposed to spec my 79 disc priest before Team Level Appropriate tonight at 8:30. TOO BAD! They're gonna have to wait. I think a nap is in order now.
