I've been staying within about 2 pounds of 155 for a while. This morning the scale says 158.2. Time to be a bit more attentive. I know I've been eating a little more, & the weather & schedule hasn't been good for exercise lately.

Jumping rope

So I bought a jump rope, two actually, one with weights and one without. I figured I would take one to work. So I just tried them out while waiting for DH to come home. Wow, I am fairly coordinated, and I felt like a total klutz! (One rope needs to be shortened a bit.) And wow, jumping rope is way harder than I remembered. Ten minutes with a jump rope will have to be something to aspire to for a while. Sheesh!

    Had to laugh at this post AIKIGAL. On a vacation several years ago I saw a European gal in her late 30's and nice shape jump rope outside of a dive shop. She looked great and made it look so easy. I went home immediately and bought one and then found out that it wasn't as easy as it looked. I think I was so disappointed that I never pulled it out again. Like you, I thought I was more coordinated than that.

I hope I'm not a sucker for every cool gym thing that comes round but I've recently invested in a hula hoop. I actually enjoyed it and it has helped my back but the bruising was terrible! It looked like I had been beaten around the hip section for a whole week! I haven't been using it as much since I've been focusing on between 4 and 8 miles of walking and now picking up sculpting....hmmm I'll have to get it out again and just try for short times daily. I really did enjoy it. One of my goals is to learn how to belly dance. It definitely limbers up the back and hips...

I know this is an old post, I'm making up for lost time and making my way back around the SP site, getting familiar with the changes since I was last on.

  I have been thinking of buying a jump rope too. Thought that would be a good thing to do during commercials on a few of my t.v. programs. Thought I would start out slow. Good luck to you.

I've been thinking for a week that I gained 5 pounds on my vacation. Either I was so stressed I didn't actually know what I weighed, or I was so tired when I weighed in after vacation that the numbers didn't make sense, or I took it all off this week already (seems unlikely). So the logical conclusion is vacation was a break even proposition on the calories and that the snorkeling off set the G&Ts. Hooray! Double reinvigoration, once for the effects of an awesome vacation, doubled by the fact that I didn't really gain any pounds back. And now the forecast for the week is sun! Way to exercise!

DH and I had a wonderful week in the British Virgin Islands on a catamaran with some friends and their 20 month old baby girl. We went snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, and walked on the beach. It was beautiful! It was probably our best vacation in 17 years.


We dove the stern of the wreck of the Rhone, and then did two dives on Virgin Gorda. One was at George Dog, and one behind the east end of Seal Dog. Then we dove twice on the wild west wall at Jost Van Dycke. We saw sting rays, turtles, HUGE spiney lobster, and also the biggest pufferfish we have ever seen!
