20 again in 2010

Sunday, October 31, 2010

That's how I ended my last blog entry about 9 months ago. I think there is still time if I get one it. Less wine during the week, more exercise, more aikido, less food! I started at a size 18 in 2008, and now I am a size 12. Size to here I come! (Dare I dream of seeing 8 again?)

Ok Really, I mean it this time!

I started my diet Dec 1 2008, and by Feb 2009 had lost 20 pounds. Since then I have been maintaining. I want to lose another 20 pounds, but I don't think I can cut any more calories without turning into psycho woman. I need to start tracking calories again, as I suspect that they are creeping up again, though I'm maintaining the 18-20 pound weight loss. And I need more exercise. It's time to get moving again! 20 again in 2010!

I'm with you I just recently lost 20lbs in 14 weeks. I exercised 3 days a week at the YMCA with a trainer and let me tell you I felt like i was run over by a truck for almost the whole entire time. Our last work out we put on backpacks full of food equal to the weight we loss and worked out. 20 extra pounds was a lot of weight. We donated the food to a local food bank. I know I do not want those 20lbs back emoticon

Living in Interesting times...

So I had my physical. The big shocker was that I found out I was vitamin B12 deficient. Over the years I depleted my reserves. So I got a giant shot (!!) and sent off to buy sublingual B12 supplements. The change is truly amazing and I started to feel better than ever after only two days. I had no idea I was having symptoms but I was. I am still astounded; I feel like a whole new woman, and when I come home from work I still have energy left to do things, which is still marvelous every day. I also found out I have borderline high blood pressure, and for that I am supposed to lose another ten pounds. That seems hard. I am really good at maintaining right now but can't seem to lose.

When DH had his physical the Dr decided to monitor his gallstones and do nothing for now. That turned out to be a HUGE mistake, and last week we wound up in the emergency room with pancreatitis. He had his gall bladder out last weekend and has been recovering all week. I am now looking for a new primary care provider as I no longer really trust her judgement. I never felt good about her decision to wait and see, and this proved to be a pretty serious mistake.

Work is crazy, and will be at least through the end of the year. Thank goodness for B12 or I would never keep up! She did get that right, but it was a fluke; she just ordered it with my blood work because I am vegetarian.

Sounds like DH needs a new doctor. I hope he recovers quickly and completely.

I'm glad the B12 worked out for you. It feels good when you find the real answer to a problem.

Ain't life grand!

Where to start? Last week my department at work got re-organized, just before month end an quarter close. The timing couldn't be worse. So for a week and a half I have been doing my old job and my new job, and what a handful. Everything seems to come at me from everywhere. Wow! But the new job is way more my style and I am happy about it.

Went to the Dr. with DH and the official ruling was 45 minutes to an hour of aerobic exercise a day and lose weight. So we are forced to re-commit to the diet that was somewhat stalled out. But we didn't learn anything we didn't already know, and so I actually came away feeling pretty good. While I was there I made an appointment for myself, since I haven't had a physical in about 5 years.

Low fat diet

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Yesterday the Dr. procsribed a low fat diet for the DH. Good news bad news. Since we have been tracking calories in FitDay since December 1 2008 I was able to pull a report from it that tells us how much of our daily diet is fat. 35% for DH and 31% for me. Good news, we aren't that far off. But the last couple % looks challenging though. We're already vegetarian. Good grief, do we have to give up everything good?!

Don't give up everything, just cut back your portions. Good luck!!
