Best walk of 2012!

Well, DH has been wrestling with acute chronic plantar faciitis in both feet all year. He's been improving, but slowly. Back in January gone were the walks to breakfast or the movie theater, or even just next door to the marine store. It was just too painful. So we had cortisone shots, and months of PT. No walks, no aikido. Even working was hard because he had to be on his feet so much. Tonight he suggested going for a walk. So we did. And he walked two miles, at roughly 3.5 mph! This is the farthest and fastest all year. It was awesome! I think he feels a bit wimpy and embarrassed. But his feet have overcome a lot this year! Hooray, we ARE getting better. emoticon

Run # 145 Light on my feet

Today was just a fun run. I felt really light on my feet and it felt pretty effortless. The first half I just felt like I could run foreverl Nothing hurt and breathing was easy. The second half I know I slowed down a bit but it was still good, and felt good. I still think I am getting a bit faster. How cool.

  


Run #144 5K, All mixed up

I ran 5K today for the first time in a while. I have yet to download my Garmin, but I think my speed is improving since I added the bicycling. At one point I was averaging 5.8, which is definitely a record for me. The flip side is today I got a stitch in my side for the first time. I was able to mostly walk it off in a couple blocks and still finish my run. So I think the first half was a good bit faster than the second half. Ah, new things to deal with. It was a great run! My hips are pretty sore now though.

Run # 143 Of bikes and running

No run on Monday. I skipped it to go for a bike ride with DH after work, but then he didn't feel good. So we went for our ride last night, across island and around Bay Farm, 12.5 miles. I thought I had done 13 before, but I can't find the record of that, so I guess this was my longest bike ride yet. It was a good work out; the upwind leg was a killer. I was pretty wobbly legged the last few miles.

This morning I got up and did 2.5 miles. It may be an illusion but I think my time was faster than usual. I was back in 32 minutes. Course, I have been pretty slow lately. Tomorrow is definately a rest day. I am tired, and a bit sore.

Run #142 Best run in weeks

Today was my best run in weeks, since my hips started hurting! I managed a 25 minute interval and felt pretty good the whole time. I had to do a little bargaining with myself the last couple blocks, but it was good. The stretching is really helping and I am much less sore and am staying that way. I also ran MWF this week, the first time I have done three runs in a week in a while. Hooray!
