Runs 136-137 Forgotten runs & a bike ride

Well, the lifestyle change from now having to commute seems to be taking over my little blog. That and September has been the month from hell at work, and is promising a grand finish....

I ran last Wednesday, and it felt good, but the soreness in my hips from my toes turning out is definitely an issue to address. I took Friday off as a result because I don't want to cause injury to myself. If it were just sore muscles that would be one thing, but I don't know I'm not hurting myself.

Sunday DH and I went for a 13 mile bike ride. That was quite a bit of work and also fun. I am finding it is true that you can push yourself harder on a bike with much less pain than you can running.

I ran again on Monday, a shorter run--30 min exercise but only 20 minutes running. That went pretty well. I was less sore after, and less sore today. Honestly I stood in the boat shivering in my pj's this morning debating my run. It was dark. It would feel good. I was groggy and headachy. How were the hips? Seemed ok....but I surrendered to the darkness and the dark forces and didn't go. I will go on Friday though.

I've made an appointment with a podiatrist, but it isn't until Oct 30. I don't think it's quite what I need, but I have to start somewhere to fix this problem. I don't intend to give up running. In the meantime I will be listening closely to my body and probably doing a few less, or shorter runs, and more bicycling.

Today was my first run since vacation (Aug 24). I just headed out to see what would happen, and turned in another 2.5 miles. It was much better than I expected it to be. I got a little tired at the end and could feel myself getting sore, so I didn't push too much. My hips do hurt some. Got to keep working on the toe out problem. But it was nice to get out and move!

Forgot to blog on Wednesday, meant to on Thursday, forgot again. Now it's hard to remember. Still debating a little on the new shoes. But I ran without any pains in the ankles, etc. Hips have been hurting less too. Don't know if it's the shoes or the taking it easy....anyway something is going right again.

    don't forget to loosen your laces all the way through, to get sneakers one size bigger as well
You will avoid black toe , blisters and some of the unnecessary aches!! Keep feeling the love of the moment :)

Run # 133 Shorter and slower

I took my new shoes out for another spin. Still deliberating. The heel cups seem a little loose now that I have gone up a half size anad I am not sure I like it. Today my left ankle started to cramp early in my run. I kept running but did not go as far as fast. IIt is still a bit tight and sore though so maybe I should have aborted. I am also monitoring the hip issue. Got to fix my right foot/toes turning out. This is kind of discouraging, but I am going to keep monitoring and keep working on it, and hopefully I can keep running while I fix the problem. emoticon

I thought I only forgot to blog one run but it's two! Monday was pretty good, Wednesday was tough and so it was a shorter run. I had a hard time getting out of the boat, but remembered any run was better than no run, so I turned in 30 minutes. My running part was a bit more intense though, averaging 5.5 for that part.
