Run #141 What a glorious day!

After the hot weather the last couple days the morning was gorgeous and cool with a nice breeze. I was pleased that my hips weren't too sore to run. The extra stretching seems to be really helping. I did have a somewhat shorter run, as my hips did start to get a little sore. And today was just kind of a challenge. But I'm not sore now...so I think I did the right thing. I still got my half our of exercise in and another two miles. And I still don't hurt.

Run #140 Good Monday Run

Good run today, considering I only ran on Monday last week. Another 2.5 miles. My hips got a bit sore at the end so I stopped a bit sooner than I wanted to. I'm ramping up on the biking. I had a nice ride Thursday after work, and yesterday DH and I got out for a half hour of running errands on the bikes, and then squeezed in another half hour at the end of the day.

  


Run # 139 In the dark

Well, although it shouldn't actually be dark at 6:00am yet, I am finding many mornings now it is. This seems to relate to the marine layer...so I have been running in the dark. I did about 2.7 miles this morning. It felt good. The hips are a little sore, exacerbated today by the fact that I sat in traffic for an hour this morning, when it should have taken me 30 minutes. Good thing I went for a run and had all those nice endorphins coursing through my system making me feel good.

Run # 138 Any run is better than no run

Continuing with my slightly diminished running to make sure I don't hurt myself while I wait for expert help....I am thinking of calling the sports medicine place DH went to. I want to be seen sooner, and I am not sure I really need a podiatrist, because it isn't really a foot issue; I was going to use him for a starting point, but the appt is over a month away. That just really isn't acceptable to me. I did about 2.2 miles this morning, while meditating on what it would look and feel like if my feet were pointed straighter like they should be. A little visualization can't hurt! Last night I got in a 48 minute bike ride with DH to try and make up for the decreased running. I burn a lot more calories on the bike, that's for sure!

Well, the lifestyle change from now having to commute seems to be taking over my little blog. That and September has been the month from hell at work, and is promising a grand finish....

I ran last Wednesday, and it felt good, but the soreness in my hips from my toes turning out is definitely an issue to address. I took Friday off as a result because I don't want to cause injury to myself. If it were just sore muscles that would be one thing, but I don't know I'm not hurting myself.

Sunday DH and I went for a 13 mile bike ride. That was quite a bit of work and also fun. I am finding it is true that you can push yourself harder on a bike with much less pain than you can running.

I ran again on Monday, a shorter run--30 min exercise but only 20 minutes running. That went pretty well. I was less sore after, and less sore today. Honestly I stood in the boat shivering in my pj's this morning debating my run. It was dark. It would feel good. I was groggy and headachy. How were the hips? Seemed ok....but I surrendered to the darkness and the dark forces and didn't go. I will go on Friday though.

I've made an appointment with a podiatrist, but it isn't until Oct 30. I don't think it's quite what I need, but I have to start somewhere to fix this problem. I don't intend to give up running. In the meantime I will be listening closely to my body and probably doing a few less, or shorter runs, and more bicycling.
