Run #119 More intervals

Today was back to work after a lovely week off. It is so easy to get used to not working! I did intervals again this morning, mostly running at different paces, but I did tuck in a walk interval when I felt I was panting too much. It was a pretty good run.

Today I went 3.5 miles, my longest run yet, in 35:49, which means approximately 10.14 minutes. This includes my 5 minute warm up walk, and a couple minute walk in the middle. This seems fast, but that is how the numbers come out. Anyway, I had a good run and a good finish!

Run #117 Anniversary run

This week marks the one year anniversary of my starting to run! In honor of that today I ran 5k. It was a pretty good run. Because I have the week off I slept in, and didn't leave until about 9:00 am. Boy the temperature difference between 6 and 9 am is pretty significant! Fortunately there was a pretty nice breeze, but even that felt hot at times. I refilled my water bottle twice on my run, which I never do. Amazing to think that a year ago a two minute interval was really tough. Now I can actually run 5K (well, given sufficient motivation, which sometimes lacks...). How cool is that! emoticon

I ran more intervals on Wednesday. Faster for 1 minute, slower for 2, etc. It does add some challenge and interest and keeps me a little more focused I think.

Friday I slept through my run....guess I needed it.
This upcoming week is the one year anniversary of my running journey. emoticon

Commuting eats into my run time and personal time and work I am down to shorter runs again while I try to work this out, so I have to make the most of it. Today I decided to run one block at a faster pace, then when I hit a crossroad I would turn and run the next block slower, then turn and the next block faster...At least it was interesting. Total exercise time about 30 min.

Last week I lost 1.5lbs. It could be because we didn't eat out all week. But also last week I did something daring. I gave up counting calories. I can't do it for the rest of my life. 4 years is enough and I have plenty of numbers in my head. I bought a book called The Portion Teller Plan: The No Diet Reality Guide to Eating, Cheating, and Losing Weight Permanently, by Lisa R. Young. As food savvy as I generally think I am, it has been a revelation. I decided to give it a try and it has been really interesting so far. I'm not hungry at all, and I lost weight, a significant amount compared to what I have been doing. But since two variables changed in the week, who is to say which it was. Stay tuned for the results of week two later.
