Today was my first run since last Wednesday due to the intervening vacation. It went better than I expected to. Then I rode my bike to work, since it was tuned up from vacation and DH needed the truck today, and the car is still in the shop.
We only got in one bike ride in Monterey but it was fun, and I enjoyed it much more than the last ime I was on my bike, even though we wer riding in the road. We intended to go for a ride yesterday, but then DH didn't want to drive home in the dark, so we left early afternoon. Riding in Monterey and enjoying it definately played a big part in my willingness to get on my bike and pedal to work today. It was only 10 minutes--about the same as it takes me to drive it, if you don't count the dinking around with pantlegs and helmets & etc.

Today I was out for 35 minutes and did 2.7 miles. Due to the boat show I hadn't been for a run, or gotten any exercise really, since Friday. Today was a bit of a slog, but I did it. I got a stitch in my side right at the end, don't know why, but I was nearly at my cool down anyway. My heart rate monitor was back to its usual hijinks, telling me I was going to die.
We are getting ready to go on a short vacation down south. We are thinking of taking the bikes along as there are supposed t o be some nice bike trails in Monterey, and I think we can probably ride somewhere down by San Simeon. I don't know yet what will happen with my Friday run; we may be packing or on the road, etc. So the next report may be saddle sores...

Some days it is really hard to want your target weight more than you want that tiny piece of bread with just a taste of brie on it.
Today is one of those days.

Suddenly, between Wednesday and now, my body has taken a huge leap forward if my heart rate monitor is to be believed. While up until now the high heart rate alarm has usually gone off about 5 minutes into my run and then throughout the rest of my run, today it did not go off until 15 minutes into my run. Prior to that it was actually sending me low heart rate alarms. Really? Of course along with that there was a huge dive in the number of calories I burned. This is anything but an exact science. Today I just did one long interval with no walking except 5 minutes to warm up, and a few minutes to cool down.

Well the weather was so bad yesterday and the forecast for today was so bad that I didn't even put my running clothes out because I expected it to be raining. But when my alarm went of it was clear, so I bolted out of bed, into my clothes, and out of the boat, figuring anything I got in was better than nothing. I got another 2.9 miles in, yay! And it is still nice out, and appears to be clearing off! I didn't do any sprints today, just focused on the run and going slow and steady. I felt a bit tired and had to push a little at the end, but I did it.
