Run # 82 Forgotten blog part 1-Wed March 21 run

Monday, March 26, 2012

Oops, I forgot to blog this run. Still playing with the Garmin. It thinks I should be dead about 10 minutes into every run. Apparently I am training a the top end of my heart rate. The thing is, apparently it takes very little to get this 43 year old woman's heart to the target. I don't feel breathless though, and I don't feel excessively tired or anything. I am putting more walking breaks back in to try and work with my heart rate. But I think if the maching had it's way I wouldn't run at all. And by the way, it isn't much of a run. I'm estimating it's a little over a 12 minute mile. I can walk a 15 minute mile all day. Still processing data on this new training tool. Anyway, another 2.9 miles down.

Run #81 Finally the rain is gone

Monday, March 19, 2012

Finally this string of spring storms has passed for the moment and this morning I got out for a run with my Garmin 210 buddy. It difinately wants me to slow down some, but I suspect it would have been saying that from the beginning. Anyway, I am scaling back a little with it and will see what happens. I definately come back with more energy left. Today I did 2.6 miles in 35 minutes.

Rain & Spring storms

Friday, March 16, 2012

It's been pouring since Monday with very little break. Yesterday afternoon we did get a break, and I got out for a 15 minute walk. Today it started raining as soon as I got up. Not a great exercise week, and it will continue through the weekend.

Run #80, with Garmin Forerunner 210

Monday, March 12, 2012

Today I took my Garmin for a spin. It says 40 minutes exercise, 2.99 miles, average heart rate 160. I had the heart rate monitor on set for high heart rate, and it kept going off. It seems the high end of my target zone is 150, but my exercising puts me in the 170-180 range. Trying to stay in the zone I feel like I worked a lot less hard. And it was really hard to do. But my overall distance did not decrease that much. I am not sure how I feel about this. It was frustrating trying to keep my heart rate in the zone. I kept having to slow down or walk. I know I am capable of more...I have to figure out what training outside the zone means. And maybe I have it set too low. Maybe I should have it set a little above my max? All in all interesting, but didn't feel like much of a run.

Under 150

Saturday, March 10, 2012

Finally. I got on the scale this morning and it said 149. Actually I'm quite shocked. I have been trying for over 9 months to get under 150, but my body has steadfastly hung out at 150-153. I really didn't expect that. Wow.
