Route mapper

I found the route mapper on SparkPeople. I knew it was there because I've seen it before, but boy is it buried! According to the route mapper my out and back run is approximately 2.5 miles. I think this is plausible and it sure makes me feel better!

    I had a challenge finding it, too, but I thought since I'm so new, it was me. I'm having a little challenge navigating everything right now. Had to do a search to find my own blog LOL; but, I LOVE the map route application. I mapped out the route my son and I have been walking and it is 3 miles - and I was able to figure out how to add 1 more mile for the days I go without my son. What a FABULOUS tool! Congrats on the 30 pounds. You are an inspiration!

Run # 70 Wow

Wow, run number 70 and I am still at it! The slower but longer campaign continues. Today I ran for 22 minutes! I did that one time before, but then was never able to do it again until today. I was pushing for 20, and at 20 I was in the middle of a good song, so I told myself I could make it to the end of the song. And I did, and I hit 22 minutes again. Granted I'm not breaking any speed records, but that isn't really my goal right now. My pedometer today had a lower reading than any other day, even though I ran past where I usually run. This is kind of depressing because I have no idea now whether any of my milage is very accurate, and I am trying to get to 3.1 miles. So going from 2.1 to 1.92, to 1.8 today when my runs are essentially all the same (I am very much a creature of habit) is frustrating. Especially when I know for a fact my route was longer today. Trying to figure out what to do next, besides map it out as best I can.

Run #69 Made 18 minutes again, woot!

I missed my Monday run. After a stressful weekend in the yard with clients, while a friend was in town that we were supposed to be having fun with, I was just too all in physically and emotionally to pull it off. But I got out today and at my new slower pace I ran for 18 minutes. It was hard but I just kept telling myself that I had not yet run as far as I could, and I could go farther. So I made it for 18 minutes. Then I walked the rest of the way back to work. I think that also in addition to trying to run longer at a slower pace I will also not try and do a long interval and then cram in another short one. I am just going to focus for now on longer and slower. When I feel good about that I will start working on faster.

Run #68 Longer and slower

I've been thinking lately that I have no idea how fast I actually jog/run, and that I might be going a little too fast and that is maybe why I am struggling. So since I am trying to get back into running since I was sick in January, and since my Wednesday run was rained out this week, I decided to try going slower today and see if that would help. I did a 12 minute interval, then a 4 minute interval. So my long interval did get longer again, and my second interval got longer. I felt less breathless through out it all. So I think my focus for a while now might be longer and slower. I sure am tight and sore in the shoulders today, but I think that may be because I forgot to bring a regular bra to work, and my jog bra straps everything down pretty tight. Can't wait to get home and change. Ugh. I need a back up in my work locker!

    Hang in there-turtle pace finishes the race! I did hill intervals on the treadmill tonight-I'm beat!

Run #67

Monday, January 30, 2012

Today my first interval was 11 minutes, another small increase. Second interval was 3 minutes, and third interval was 2 minutes. Total run time 16 minutes. I'm improving again slowly. I'll take whatever I can get I guess. It would be nice to pull off a 15 minute interval on Friday. But I am either fighting another cold or allergies are kicking my butt so we'll see what happens. Meantime I huff and puff along. Lately sometimes I wonder if I am running too fast. I have no idea how fast I am running. On my list of things to do is to block out a mile and run it and see what my time is.
