I've been thinking lately that I have no idea how fast I actually jog/run, and that I might be going a little too fast and that is maybe why I am struggling. So since I am trying to get back into running since I was sick in January, and since my Wednesday run was rained out this week, I decided to try going slower today and see if that would help. I did a 12 minute interval, then a 4 minute interval. So my long interval did get longer again, and my second interval got longer. I felt less breathless through out it all. So I think my focus for a while now might be longer and slower. I sure am tight and sore in the shoulders today, but I think that may be because I forgot to bring a regular bra to work, and my jog bra straps everything down pretty tight. Can't wait to get home and change. Ugh. I need a back up in my work locker!

Today my first interval was 11 minutes, another small increase. Second interval was 3 minutes, and third interval was 2 minutes. Total run time 16 minutes. I'm improving again slowly. I'll take whatever I can get I guess. It would be nice to pull off a 15 minute interval on Friday. But I am either fighting another cold or allergies are kicking my butt so we'll see what happens. Meantime I huff and puff along. Lately sometimes I wonder if I am running too fast. I have no idea how fast I am running. On my list of things to do is to block out a mile and run it and see what my time is.

Today's run was a little tough as I try and get back into it. But I managed a 10 minute interval, and a 5 minute interval. Recovery in between took longer. I gave myself 5 minutes hoping that would help me get a longer second interval, and I think maybe it did. So 15 minutes run time, and 18 minutes of good brisk walking. I may try and get a run in this weekend, maybe Sunday while the guys are painting their guitars. There is a nice bayside walkway over by the shop that would be a nice change of scene.

Today I finally felt well enough to try going for a run. It wasn't actually as bad as I thought it would be, though I have definately suffered a setback from the 2 sedentary weeks of my cold. But I'll lace my shoes up again and keep going, because I haven't hit the target I promised myself yet. I ran an 8 minute interval, which I thought was pretty good all things considered. Then I ran 3 two minute intervals, for a total of 14 minutes running. Boy did I huff and puff on those last intervals. Hard to believe I ever did a 20 minute interval!
I got out for a quick walk on an afternoon break, so total exercise time today is now 47 minutes. And this morning I signed up for my first 5K, the See Jane Run women's event on June 3. Now I have a target to shoot for. I really want to be able to run the whole thing. I already know I could walk it 5x over. I need another mile in addition to building up my time.

I walked to work this morning, yay! It felt so good to move. A part of me wanted to break into a jog but I had my work clothes on. It made me look forward to my run tomorrow, which is a new thing, and kind of funny. I know it may be a tough run, since my last one was on January 9 I think, and I have probably lost conditioning. But I am looking forward to getting back to it, and what it seems to bring to me. Time to start training for that 5K in June
