Run #61 Changing it up to Sprints

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Today I really didn't feel like a run, but I went anyway. But 5 minutes into it I was losing steam & I knew I was going to fight myself for the next 15 minutes. It's the Holidays, it's year end, I'm tired....Working on the premise that you can do anything for a minute, I decided to do some sprints instead. I did 5 sprints of a minute each. It was actually kind of hard, but in a fun way. It took 2-3 minutes to recover in between sprints. I think I could have done a few more, but I also didn't know how my body would feel later, so I called it good. I am now thinking of incorporating a sprint or two somewhere in each run.

Run # 60 Woo hoo!

Monday, December 19, 2011

Today was my 60th run! After my little cookie binge yesterday baking for the work cookie exchange I wasn't sure I could run without throwing up. I went out determined to at least get a walk in if I couldn't manage the run. But I pulled off a 20 minute interval, hooray! And I totally feel better now!

In other news, we think DH has plantar faciatis, so I guess it is not the best time to take up running. He is disappointed even though he was having trouble getting started. We are focusing now on some stretching and looking for improvement there, then maybe will try some running in a few weeks if we see some improvement.

Run # 59 Some days you don't got it...

Friday, December 16, 2011

Today was just a tough one. I did run 20 minutes, but I just couldn't pull it of in one interval. I did a 10, then thought I would do another 10, but ended up doing 2 5 minute intervals intsead. I just couldn't keep it up today. On the bright side, it was a beautiful day out there an running by the water was nice, as always.

Run 58, 21 minutes

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

I had a 5 day break. It wasn't intentional but I think I also needed it. Year end is really bad at work for me, and I have been pushing through exhaustion. I ran 21 minutes again today, and it wasn't too terribly hard, but it is still a challenge at the end. It feels SO GOOD afterward though! And I am going to need that glow this afternoon for the 1.5 hours of meetings I have. An additional on the plus side is there have been really bad cooties going round the office this year, and I have not gotten sick yet, not even a scratchy throat or a hint of a cough! I think this may be due to the running.

Run 57, 21 minutes

Saturday, December 10, 2011

Yesterday I ran out of time and forgot to blog my run. I ran a 21 minute interval. I was shooting for 20 and I knew I was close when I committed to myself to run through this one last song, which was a long song and I knew that, so I knew it would put me over by some amount. Turns out I ran a 21 minute interval. I now recognize the regulars at my somewhat varying run times. Yesterday I ran by cologne man again. Pew! He showers in cologne then goes for a walk, and i get a big old lungful of cologne on the way by that nearly gags me. I don't like you very much cologne man.
