Run 50 Wow!

Well, I've just completed run 50. At this point I can run for 15 minutes at a time. Somehow I thought I might be farther along, but then again, I'm not racing anyone but me. I suspect perhaps I should push a little harder. Muscles seem to be the biggest issue. The longer the first interval gets, the harder it is to do a second one. That also seems to be the obstacle to a longer first interval. I suppose time and repetition will fix this. I think I have more energy, though it is hard to tell at 9pm. I definately have more stamina. The weight loss has been minor, though I think I've dropped about 8 pounds since July. The last 10 pounds is really proving hard. But I am sure I am healthier, so if I didn't lose any more I think I could probably live with it. But I think I can. I suspect as I can run faster and longer I will drop more weight. Today's totals: 21 minutes running, 11 minutes walking.

Run #49 More equipment woes

My mp3 player would not stay on for my run today! It kept shutting off after about 30 seconds. I think it may have had to do with orientation, and running, but I'm not sure. I reproduced it once at my desk afterward, but then it kept playing just fine in spite of my shaking it up and down. It kind of took the energy out of my run. I did 3 7 minute intervals. I can't seem to consistently keep my time up. I did a 15 minute interval on Monday, and again on Wednesday. I should have been capable of doing it again today. So much of this seems to be in one's head. I'm too old and tired for head games :-) Ah well. Monday is another run, and number 50 at that!

Well I wasn't sure my mp3 player was contributing much to my runs, but then the battery went dead on my run today, and I sure missed the beat! Did a 15 minute interval, but then a 3 and a two. I just had a hard time keeping it going today. My knees were tired! Seems like everytime I make a jump in time the intervals get harder. Maybe I should just work on one longer interval and not worry about overall run time. Or maybe I need to push a little. I'll see how Friday goes.

The extra rest helped. Today I ran for a 15 minute interval, possible even 16, but I had another equipment malfunction about 4 minutes in that slowed me down while recovering, so let's call it 15, a nice increase from 13, and it felt good. The second interval was 7 minutes, for a total of 23 minutes running and 12 minutes walking.

It was also cool as I really didn't feel like going--because I only had 5.5 hours sleep, and I stayed up late drinking wine with some of my best guys from work. But I dragged myself out anyway, and had a good run. A good chunk of it was windward too. Woo hoo!

No Friday run

Well I went to work dressed to run, but it started to rain just after it got light. So I didn't get my run in. I can't say I am exactly disappointed because I was feeling particularly knackered. Maybe the rain was the universe saying it was okay to take a break. We also didn't go to aikido on Thursday because we were so tired. I hope the break will feel better on Monday. The last time I took a longer break it really helped.
