If you reach the same goal twice....

Do you get to celebrate it twice? Last weekend the DH and I got on the scale and discovered that a week of extra busy and a couple extra meals out had packed a few pounds back on both of us. I have to admit it was pretty disheartening, especially so early in our program, when we were still reveling in the relative ease with which the weight was coming off. I decided I would just eat well and work hard this week, and that I wasn't going to weigh in until this morning. Of course it also rained this week, taking away one of my primary exercise forms, walking to work and on break. In spite of it all, this morning the scale told me I was down 15 pounds again, with a nice bonus of 0.6 to add onto that.

I've reached a goal--again!

It seems like I'm finally starting to relax a little in the new job, and to think up some ideas about how to improve the processes. A new guy starts later this week, so perhaps soon I will be doing only one job. It will be interesting to see how a guy handles this more typically female role, and how people react to him in it.

Meantime, it's a sunny Saturday, and the Steelers are in the Superbowl.

8 hours of sleep-live well tip of the day

I have to admit I'm a woman who loves her bed. If I let my body do what it likes, it will go to sleep and wake up exactly 8 hours later, no matter what time I went to sleep. Last night I slept for a luscious 10 hours. I love the weekend! ZZzzzzz.

So my not so new promotion has been a pretty tough adjustment .There were things about the old job that I really miss, and since we haven't filled that role yet it is hard to let go. This week one of my visiting co workers had some words of wisdom for me. He reminded me to give myself time to adjust. Then he told me "Don't think about what you have lost. Think about what you can win, then you can accept your situation. Life is about being happy and being happy in what you do." I have a post it note on my monitor at work now that says "Win Win Win."

This morning my win is 15 pounds! 5 pounds to the half way mark. Is that a funny way to think of it? To me it feels like one of the significant milestones on the journey.

So my official weigh in day is Saturday or Sunday morning. But Wednesdays I do an unofficial mid week check in. I have to admit if I like the number I often record it. Yesterday I was down 14 pounds--in spite of the venti vanilla lattes my visiting salesmen have been bringing me all week emoticon It feels so good to be uncovering the real me underneath those extra pounds! Slow and steady.
