Life gets crazy sometimes...

So we produced a weekend seminar last weekend and then had guests all week. It was month end at work, and always too much to do. Not exactly ideal. We weren't able to track calories very well because we were so busy. Didn't get enough exercise, and went out to eat too much. And YET....neither of us gained any weight. In fact we both lost a tiny bit. So not our best week, but so much better than ever before. We managed to mostly stay on track in spite of it all. Hooray!

Rain Rain and more Rain

I know we've been in a drought and I know we really need the rain. Nice steady rain like we've been having. Honestly, I'm grateful. But can't I just have a little break? I need to do some laundry and my body needs to move! I don't belong to a gym and there is no indoor mall here. I just need a dry half hour to go for a walk. Is that too much to ask?

Yesterday friends invited us out to a new Indian restaurant for lunch. We did the buffet. It was hard to resist since there was a little to try of many things that gave a good sample of the restaurant's offerings. On the plus side, I was fairly reasonable on my portions and didn't have any seconds, and even left food on my plate. So that was an improvement. Then we persuaded them to come to the high end ice cream shop with us to celebrate, finally, DH's 20# goal. I only had a very small sundae there too. So I was really good there too. Unfortunately I still ate too much. I haven't done that in quite a while. The discomfort is an incredible reminder of the progress and the direction I want to go. We had salad and a small piece of garlic bread for dinner at 8pm.

I'm counting the pounds to the half way mark now, and trying to figure out how to celebrate on half way day!

This week I gave away a pair of fat jeans, a really good feeling. Also I finally fit into a sweater that has just been a little too snug since DH bought it for me for Christmas in 2007. It was so cool to be able to wear the sweater! He bought it for be because another friend had given me a scarf for my birthday and I needed something to wear it with. Finally I got to wear the scarf and the sweater!

Do you get to celebrate it twice? Last weekend the DH and I got on the scale and discovered that a week of extra busy and a couple extra meals out had packed a few pounds back on both of us. I have to admit it was pretty disheartening, especially so early in our program, when we were still reveling in the relative ease with which the weight was coming off. I decided I would just eat well and work hard this week, and that I wasn't going to weigh in until this morning. Of course it also rained this week, taking away one of my primary exercise forms, walking to work and on break. In spite of it all, this morning the scale told me I was down 15 pounds again, with a nice bonus of 0.6 to add onto that.

I've reached a goal--again!

It seems like I'm finally starting to relax a little in the new job, and to think up some ideas about how to improve the processes. A new guy starts later this week, so perhaps soon I will be doing only one job. It will be interesting to see how a guy handles this more typically female role, and how people react to him in it.

Meantime, it's a sunny Saturday, and the Steelers are in the Superbowl.
