Today the first interval was into the wind. I ran for 13 minutes again. But when I started the second interval--shooting for 10 minutes, some muscle on the inside of my left calf cramped, and then my foot got tight, and I felt myself losing my balance. I ran a little further, but it was all tightening up instead of getting looser, so I walked home. 33 minutes total time, mostly walking today. I got a new calf stretch last night from another aikidoist that I think will help. Unfortunately, it doesn't stretch whatever tensed up this morning. Got to go look at leg anatomy I guess.

Today I ran 13 minutes and 10 minutes, total 23 minutes running time and 11 minutes walking. I'm still building up how much time I can run in one interval, but I have a limited amount of time to do this, and I don't want to reduce my total running time, so really I am making it up as I go along. I still seem to get really tight calves some days. I keep trying all kinds of stretches to relieve them, but either the ache isn't where I think it is and I neeed to stretch a different muscle, or I haven't found the right stretch yet. But I can tell you 400mg of ibuprofen wipes it away. I just don't want to get in the habit of medicating to so this. I would prefer to be able to stretch it out.

Today went much better than Wednesday. I managed to avoid all the equipment malfunctions. The music on my player was good. The rain held off, all day in fact. I ran with tights under my shorts, and used my arm warmers and that was perfect for 47 degrees. I ran a 13 minute interval and an 8 minute interval.

Today was pretty breezy. I thought it was cooler than it was, so I wore a light fleece that was too much. The right earbud on my new earphones won't stay in my ear, so I took the rubber piece off and wrapped the wire around my ear and stuffed in again, which mostly worked. Then my wallet fell off, ripped my headphones out of my ears, and it all bounced on the ground. I took this as a sign it was time to remove my fleece. Running into the wind seems to take way more effort. The first interval was 9 minutes (that's when my wallet fell off, so I had a break to put myself together. ) Then I ran 6 minutes, back toward work so it should have been more downwind, but didn't seem to be. My calves were screaming and it was hard to get into it again. Even the music didn't seem to help much. Then I did another 6 minutes. Total 21 minutes running and 15 minutes walking. So much for the high aspriations of Monday.

I forgot to blog yesterday's run. Yesterday I ran with music for the first time. Instead of "I think I can" it was "I can run to the end of this song." I did manage to enjoy some of the music though, and I think it did help, especially at the end. I ran for 12 minutes, and then 10 minutes for a total of 22 minutes run time. I might try for 13 minutes tomorrow. Not sure yet.
