Run #39 12 minute interval

Today I just really needed to prove to myself I could push past that 10 minute interval wall I seemed to be stuck at, so I decided I was doing 11 minutes, then at 11 I decided I could do 12. I did a 12 minute interval, a 5 minute, and a 3 minute, total 20 minutes running, 11 minutes walking. I think also I discovered today that I have been picking up my pace gradually wihthout realizing it. I slowed it down a little and that felt better too.

Today I did a 10 minute interval, a 6 minute interval, and a 4 minute interval. 20 minutes of running and 11 minutes of walking. My calf muscles seem to get really tight sometimes and I think that is limiting me somewhat. I need to figure out some more stretches, but I have to figure out which muscle is the problem. It isn't exactly my calf, it is lower down at the base or the calf, above the ankle, and it feels sort of like the inside of my leg. If anyone can tell me what muscle that might be that would be fantastic!

Today I ran two ten minute intervals! And without feeling like it was horribly hard! The morning just felt good. The air was cool and clean, and it was a little overcast. My armwarmers were the perfect addition at the start, and I slid them down as I got warm. Met another runner on the way and we chatted for a short distance. And I just felt like I knew I could do 10 minutes, and I really thought a second 10 minute interval was doable to. It's all in the head baby! I needed a little running success, and today I got it. Yay!

The backwards progress from the 10 days of not running is kind of discouraging. Today I ran 9 minutes, 5 minutes, then 4 minutes. 18 minutes running and 13 minutes walking. Total run time 18 minutes, which is about constant, but before my unintentional break I could run 10 and 10. I just can't seem to pull back up to that yet. I know I will get there if I am patient, but still I find it discouraging.

Today I saw a couple night herons fishing along the waterfront, and some mushrooms growing by the path. That was cool.

Some days are just killers. Today seemed worse than Wednesday, when I hadn't run for 10 days. But I did it anyway, in spite of the obvious setback. Two 6 minute intervals and a 7 mionute interval, for 19 minutes of running and 14 walking. Now I am sitting at my desk at work all stinky. Off to the shower.
