Some days are just killers. Today seemed worse than Wednesday, when I hadn't run for 10 days. But I did it anyway, in spite of the obvious setback. Two 6 minute intervals and a 7 mionute interval, for 19 minutes of running and 14 walking. Now I am sitting at my desk at work all stinky. Off to the shower.

Today is the first day I ran from work. I am cooling off before I shower now. Today was a killer since I haven't run since the 3rd, since I was out of town at my parents. I did get some time in on the elliptical there. I did a 9 minute, a 5 minute, and a 3 minute, for a total of 17 minutes running.

I gave myself a break on Friday and did not run, since I was really tired, and had to pack in the morning to leave for Monterey for the weekend right after work. So by this morning I had had a 5 day break. It actually seemed to help. I ran a 10 minute interval, a 9 minute interval, and a 3 minute interval. Total run time 22 minutes, total exercise time, 37 minutes.
My diving this weekend went the best it has yet, and I can see the effects of the running. We had a long surface swim out to middle reef, and I was not at all winded like I normally am, nor did I struggle with the swim, or need to take a break. Also, it was much easier to carry my gear to and from the water, and I even helped other people out of their gear before shedding mine. Usually I can't wait to get to the car and get my gear off. Also, I did not overheat nearly as much while standing around in my gear. The difference was very noticable to me, and also to DH. He is starting to toy with the idea of running.

Well, today's run kicked my butt. I got up and ate breakfast, which I really didn't want. But I choked it down since it was hot and ready, and I didn't have time to fix it again later, or the inclination to try and find something to take to work later. I did the first 9 minute interval...took me about 3 minutes to get into the rhythm. The second interval I did 6 minutes. Everything just felt stiff and sore. Then I did two minutes. I started a fourth interval, trying for another 2-4 minutes, but about 20 steps into it my body said, "screw this" and so I walked home. Total 17 minutes running, 22 minutes walking. Not my best, but not awful. Some days are just like that I guess.

I bumped to 9 minute intervals today and it went well. It felt better thant the 8 minute intervals last week for sure! I did two nines, followed by 3, and then walked the last few minutes home. Total run time, 21 minutes, 15 minutes walk time. It is kind of exciting to think that next week I should be able to run for 10 minutes at a time. I am going to have to tweak my strategy after that as I extend the amount of time I am able to run, but currently do not plan to extend the time I give to the overall exercise. Feeling good!
