I will be 34 in less than 2 weeks. When I was younger like 28 I was so much more athletic and healthy. I have to remind myself that my 33rd year has been spend battling a kidney disease. What does that mean for my future of working out and hitting my weight loss goal?
I don't know yet. What I do know is I am mentally ready and ready for my physical to catch up to my mind. With a kidney disease I have to now take into account my level of hydration because I cant go walk 3 miles and hydrate at the same time when I need to use the bathroom pretty much every hour it seems like. My right leg is still quite swollen from edema but I can actually put my running shoes on, of course a little tight on the right but some months ago It wouldn't even go on! So yea I have something to prove, I will not be defeated by the fears of the unknown, I chose life and I chose to live it the best way I can and that starts by making myself a priority. I definitely got off course with that and I know that didn't help me when my body finally said ENOUGH!

In a matter of about 5 weeks I gained 60lbs of fluid. After intense doses of Lasix some of the water weight is off but not completely and Im sure due to my inactivity for over a year some of it has converted to dry weight. I am not pressed about it. God willing by my 35th birthday-9/10/2014 I will be 100lbs lighter.

Awesome job and I know that you are an overcomer. Losing 100#s shows that you can reach the mountain and climb over it. I'm sure you'll defeat this kidney disease and it won't defeat you. Trust God He will certainly bring you through. Thanks for your comment on my page! Keep pressing forward!!!

6 years and 60 pounds later

Sunday, August 25, 2013

I don't feel like writing a whole lot right now as I don't want to lose my motivational steam( I am looking for a FIT BIT or body bugg online), but I have been sick since my birthday last year. Yes a whole year dealing with a autoimmune kidney disorder. I say why me but why not me? My mental strength has gotten me through the rough days when my physical strength wouldn't allow it. I have done it before and Ill do it again. This time I have a real serious goal. To qualify for a kidney transplant (not right now but being realistic) I would need to be 100 lbs lighter. Best motivation ever. I'll be back.

So Anxious.....(holds breathe)please close and lock

Thursday, September 08, 2011

So I asked my babe to take me to Great America on Sunday for my birthday ( my birthday is Saturday but my babe has to work). I am so afraid that I wont fit on any of the rides. The last time I went to an amusement park was for my brothers high school graduation and he just graduated college in May- so 4 years ago, yes? so that's 2007.
2007 was the year I decided to get my ish together but well after this trip. It was so embarrassing standing in line for 45 minutes and getting up to the coaster and not being able to have the harness close on you. Seriously why dont they have a line judge like a quarter way in telling you to turn around and get a funnel cake because its not happening for you today? I know some folks would be offended but a sista likes a heads up every now and then! So I am going to suck it in and brave the scary unknown. I have avoided this for far too long.

New Right Fit Flare Jeans

Monday, July 18, 2011

I havent wore a "flare" jeans in years if ever and I havent bought any jeans from Lane Bryant in about 10 years. These were a pleasant surprise-they didnt bell out at the bottom, stretchy and curve flattering. I thought Id take a picture of me in them before I started my workout.

These are an 18......hmmmm one day when I need a smaller size I hope they still make this style. emoticon

Stop the presses

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

So I was talking to my natural hair stylist yesterday and told her I was ready to grow my hair out, yanno take it to the next level, like Leela James next level and I really am interested in some protective styles but my issue is having my thick, dense hair straightened first then trimmed so all my hair will be extremely healthy and even- Id be a fool to have a trim while its curly.. I havent had it pressed since December 2009 thus no trim since then either (naturalistas are dropping jars of shea butter all around at the thought of that right now). I have a pet peeve about people who do my hair who talk about my hair while they are doing it. I dont need someone telling me how thick my hair is and them not realizing how much hair I have while they are doing it. Like seriously I know how much hair I have I deal with it EVERYDAY! So now I have to decide on which referral I am going to accept to press my hair. I swear I will lose it in the chair if she rambles on about my daggone hair!!!

And how am I suppose to work out with a press??? Any suggestions???

I wish I had answers for you. I had to comment on your new picture to say you look gorgeous and happy! As for the hair thing...I can COMPLETELY identify with you! My hair is super thick and it holds moisture! I've tried wrapping it for my workouts but I always just end of having to wash it. I just wash it at night and pull mine back in a ponytail and blow dry the ends in the morning! Since I got my hair cut it's hard to "camouflage" my fuzzy roots...I wear lots of bandanas!

I dont really want the relaxed look, I just want my ends trimmed. I gave up the synthetic silky look 6 years ago. What are some other options to straightening it to have it trimmed besides a pressing comb that doesnt involve any type of chemical application?

They have temporary straighting treatments that will still allow u to work out without your hair reverting back to its natural state instantly....u use a special flat iron NO PRESSING COMB!!! U r still able to rock natursl styles when u want but also give that relaxed look when u want....IM LICENSED COSMETOLOGIST IN THE STATE OV MD

I can't wait to read about the tips you get from others. I'm in the beginning stages of going natural--growing out the relaxer for about 9 months now. My best friend has beautiful natural hair. She has her hair pressed about every 2 weeks. Lately, she has been using using a gel intended for locks, unsure of the brand, to keep her hair smooth. Good luck and Platinum755 seems to have advice that both of us can use. If there were an emoticon of a fab fro Id put it here but...no such luck:) Take care emoticon

I haven't had my hair hot combed in years, but the resulting issues are the same, the extra excess moisture reverts the hair back faster. I usually put my hair up in a ponytail...well actually, several ponytails so that I increase the amount of scalp exposed to the air for quicker drying and keep the hair out the excessive sweat while working out. After tieing the hair up, I twist then tuck the hair in the ties. Wear an absorbent sweatband to help pull the sweat away from the hair around the hairline. Addng a little moisturizing oil to the hairline before putting the sweatband helps too. Let the hair dry before removing the ponytail ties.

Hope this helps!
