What!?!?!?

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

I keep within my calorie range and I exercise almost 5 days a week, burning off somewhere between 600 and 1000 calories each time. And I am still gaining weight!!

I've also read where you should not weigh yourself for the first few weeks. Go by how you feel and how your clothes fit. If those indicators are good, then you just need to let your body sort it out. Female hormones also wreak havoc on the scale. I can eat/exercise the same for a month so should maintain, but will gain and lose the same 5 lbs every month. It takes time to see these patterns, but I bet if you stick with it you will have similar results. (I don't mean gaining, I'm on maintenance!)

Maybe you are burning too many calories for the amount of calories you are eating. Perhaps your body is storing the food since it thinks it will need it for the next workout? Have you thought about calorie cycling?

Perhaps you are gaining muscle? How are your clothes fitting? If they are feeling looser, you may be getting smaller while gaining muscle mass. If not, you might want to consider whether you're eating enough to fuel your workouts. If you're working out without adjusting your calories for that much exercise, you may be slowing your metabolism, which will slow your weight loss.

So Tired...

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

For those who don't know me, I have a lung condition that has kept me sick for most of this past year. Before I got sick I remember running up hills in full gear, climbing over walls like they weren't even there and going hiking all day. But now all I have is the strength and energy for going on a lite walk.

And I am completely sick of it. All I want to do is go running like I use to. Today I went out for what was suppose to be a medium run. And all I could manage to do is walk most if not all of the course. I am so tired of being tired.

One day at a time! You are doing great just getting out and putting yourself on the path! Don't overdo it at the beginning... baby steps, baby steps! In time, I hope it will all come back to you!! HUGS!!
