Today's Shamrock Shuffle

Saturday, March 05, 2011

Ran in today's Shamrock Shuffle 5K here in Logansport. Thought I did better than my last 5K, but alas...40:55. It was still a 13 minute mile which isn't bad for me. I thought it was my personal best, but it was 15 seconds longer than last fall. Oh, well.... One of my problems this morning was that my shins & calves were really aching during the first 1 1/2 miles. I think I need to walk the first block and then start running more slowly in the beginning of the race. I don't usually have this problem when we're training, and so I think I need to keep with my normal routine to avoid these issues. Anyway, I finished the race this morning, and I'm pleased to have done that! Woo-Hoo!!!!

2010 Stats

Tuesday, January 04, 2011

2010 was quite a year for me! In preparation for the 3 different triathlons & the four 5k's that I did in 2010, I logged quite a few miles:
emoticon I swam 160 miles
emoticon I biked 695 miles
emoticon I ran - for the first time in my 54 years - 195 miles
emoticon I walked 201 miles - mostly with my dog!

I didn't lose too much weight this year, but I was able to maintain my previous year's weight reduction of 70 pounds, so I'm pretty pleased with that as well.

emoticonAll in all, it's been a great year and I'm feeling as fit as I've been in a pretty long time.

Yesterday's Turkey Trot Finish

Friday, November 26, 2010

Good morning! I'm so proud of myself for completing our local Turkey Trot. No speed records were set by me, but I improved my time from last year by 8 minutes, 20 seconds. My final time this year was 51:46.90. Last year I did a 15 minute mile; this year, it was a 13 minute mile. Maybe next year will be an 11 minute mile. I'll just keep plugging away at it. Glad I got to do it! emoticon

Great results from blood test!

Tuesday, November 09, 2010

I've been at this healthy lifestyle for over a year and a half. One of my main goals was to get off of blood pressure medicine and get my cholesterol down. I'm really pleased that I have accomplished both of those goals. I actually accomplished both of them last spring, but I got new numbers from my most recent blood test, and I'm excited that they're still improving! My cholesterol last year was 197, and today's test shows it at 185! Hooray!!! Triglyceride was 70, and blood sugar was 90. Makes it ALL worthwhile!!
