10 Months After Baby

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Haven't posted here in a long time. Been kind of busy with my "new" little one. She's now 10 months old and I'm starting to think about weaning and being able to get a little more serious about exercise again. I've lost the actual baby weight due to nursing and walking, light exercise, but I feel flabby and tired. It's nice to look back at my starting point though and I really know now just how amazing my body really is. emoticon

Shamrock Run

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Pretty happy with myself :-) Finished the 5K in 30:39 and would have been under 30 minutes if I hadn't had to stop to wait on a max train to cross.
This is the first actual "competitive" thing I have done in 20 years, so it's a great feeling that I wasn't even close to last. Probably silly, but I also kept telling myself that I would not be beat by the guys in giant Guinness can suits and I managed to stay just in front of them the whole time. (It must suck to run inside of those things!) Enjoyed my beer afterwords and felt pretty good other than my left leg stiffened up on the way back to the car (that was parked almost another 5K away). Nothing a little stinky Icy Hot couldn't fix.
Next up - Portland to Coast walk in August and I'm trying to get the hubby to do the Warrior Dash with me.

Snowshoeing

Wednesday, January 04, 2012

Went snowshoeing on Monday, great workout with a beautiful view. We are so blessed to be able to enjoy so many great places so close to home. If you want to get out of the gym, you can rent snowshoes in Government Camp and go tromp around the mountain. I highly recommend it.

Be prepared for a sore butt and thighs in the morning. I went snowshoeing last year and it was a great way to enjoy the snow (much better than skiing for me didn't fall over as much).

Progress & Crazy Ideas

Thursday, September 15, 2011

So I've been quietly plugging away, now down almost 30 pounds.
From size 14 pants down to size 10.
I will have made my original goal by the time of our vacation emoticon

Looks like now it's time for some more challenging goals!!! I guess I need to think about that. Maybe I should invest in a few training sessions to work on something more specific.

Some girlfriends at work are now trying to recruit me for their Hood to Coast team.
Gulp!!! That would be a HUGE commitment, but I feel like maybe I could do it since I would have almost a year to train for it. Who would have ever thought I would even consider it six months ago?

Home from Vacation / things I love about Oregon

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

So I had a nice visit with my husband's family in Indiana. It was great to see everyone and get away from work for a while. Realized a few things that I really missed while I was gone though. For one, I can't believe that there are states that still allow smoking indoors. Blech! I think I might have coughed up half a lung in pursuit of rare (to me) beers at the pubs.

Maybe it's mostly the places that we go out to eat here at home, but it seems I can always find some more healthy options and/or smaller portions at restaurants also.
Pretty much ate garbage for a week. Thank goodness for my sister in law who made vegetables and salad!! Over the week I did indulge in White Castle & Chili Cheese Fries and of course more beer than usual and somehow staid within 1/2 pound difference when I got home.

We went for a bike ride with one of our nephews and friends and also for a kayak trip on the river, so a little bit of exercise was better than none :-)

Congrats for having fun, enjoying your beer, and being able to handle unpredictable food choices and still staying within 1/2 a pound! I didn't realize that Indiana still allowed indoor smoking :-O. I hate leaving a place with my hair and clothes smelling of smoke :-P I was in an outdoor waterpark in WI Dells last week, and they didn't even allow outside smoking!

I know just what you mean about smoking in bars, I can't believe any state still allows it. Good for you keeping within 1/2 pound difference after a week on vacation!!!
