28 weeks tomorrow! Only ~12 weeks remain!
No longer tiny kicks that feel like muscle spasms.. now it's rumbles in my tummy and belly shifts when baby goes crazy in there! ;)
Yes.. still gaining weight like a crazy person! I'm looking at a total 40 pound gain I believe. At 28 weeks I'm up 30 pounds from conception. Oh, and thank you SP, for reminding me I'm now in the OBESE range when I tried updating my weight GAIN goal for pregnancy. :p Apparently I cannot do that because I'd be making a goal to be obese. Well... I kind of have to. Baby has to grow! ;) Trying to keep up a semi-healthy eating routine. Tracking on SP as much as possible (usually not on weekends.. and I end up eating poorly most often then). Being tired at night is leading to eating out for dinner. Ugh! I wish my husband cooked...
Sleep is for the birds! No, I love sleep! I just have realized my sleep pattern lately is something like a good 3-4 hours of interrupted sleep and then waking up repeatedly the next 4-5 hours. The waking up is from dreaming and/or re-positioning.
But, on the positive I have a lot to be thankful for! My feet/ankle/calf swelling is not constant.. it most often happens when I've not drank as much water or had too much salt or not enough protein, etc. I'm not having back pain (yet). One weekend I had back pain, but it must have been an isolated thing. I don't go to the bathroom 5 times during the night. I was already used to drinking a lot of water and used to going to the bathroom once during the night before pregnancy so getting up to pee once during the night or 20 times during the day is nothing new to me. :) So I am lucky to only be gaining more weight than I'd like, have occasional feet swelling, being tired, and having the occasional headache during this pregnancy.
I started drinking red raspberry leaf tea at 25 weeks. The things I read about this herb online were so positive for pregnancy that I had to try it! I actually like the taste of it too! I bought some loose tea leaves on amazon and I usually make myself some hot tea with honey to drink with breakfast.. Mmmmm mmmm. I hope it is working its wonders on me during the 3rd trimester and will help me have a shorter/easier labor like some have claimed! I decided the pros certainly outweighed the cons!
Until next time.. hopefully I'll remember to post future blogs even with pregnancy induced brain fog!

20 weeks... pregnancy halfway mark.. hard to believe it's going that fast!
Found out we're having a BOY 2 weeks ago.
Decided on a name about a week ago: Jett.
Felt tiny kicks yesterday for the first time.
Gaining weight like a crazy person! Argh! I cannot worry about it too much.. it's bound to happen! I've just gained more than I would have liked by this point. I am about 19-20 pounds up by the halfway point? Ugh! The goal was 15-25 lbs total! Guess it will end up being more like 35 or 40 total! Eeeeeeeeeee....
Until next time...

So I have 1 more week of the 1st trimester. Lets hope I am more energetic, less bloated, and never nauseous in the 2nd trimester! ;)
My last blog post was my exercise plan and I haven't been doing that great with it. My treadmill randomly works so it wasn't working the past few weeks, but I noticed it was working again yesterday so I was able to walk on it yesterday and today. Of all those strength training exercises listed in my previous post I think wall push-ups are the easiest to squeeze in.. maybe b/c I remember how to do it.. the concept isn't hard to grasp. Maybe that'll keep me from swelling up at least in the arms. My mid-section certainly needs some work. I don't know if it is bloat, extra fat, or baby related. Too early to be showing... another 3 or so weeks before that.
I was talking to my husband yesterday about the recommendations for eating while pregnant. They say that in the first trimester you don't actually need any more calories. Well either I am confused about how many calories my body needs to maintain weight because I was trying to diet before I got pregnant or my body does in fact need more calories than maintenance in the first trimester. Most days my stomach growls 2-3 times between breakfast and lunch. Pre-pregnant that would have happened never or once close to lunch time. So I usually have 2 morning snacks and sometimes, depending on what's on the lunch menu, an afternoon snack also. All of that usually gets me up to 1700-1800 calories if what I am eating in healthy. If I am eating some processed foods then it's usually 2000-2200 calories. And if it includes eating out like at the Mexican restaurant that might get me up to 2500 calories and a very full belly!
I need to eat better foods and ignore cravings. And, I need to exercise even if I'm tired. :p

I will be at 10 weeks in a couple days.. AND I have a doctors appointment that day so I am very much looking forward to getting another ultrasound and being able to HEAR the heartbeat for the first time. Prayers for a healthy pregnancy!
First, I need to comment that in reading something I just had a pregnancy revelation. Wow. I feel silly.
I read this: "Eat!... I am not sure if most pregnant women realize this, but a pregnant woman's body works harder than a non-pregnant woman rock climbing. YUP! That's a big deal. That is a lot of calories that your body is expending even though you don't realize it. Right now your pregnancy body is working crazy hard in order to build the support system that is going to support the fetus (your baby)."
And so the lightbulb just flashed in my head to answer my question from last week as to why on a given day that I eat a 500+ calorie breakfast and a 200ish calorie morning snack.. my stomach growls before lunch?
*The answer: because I have been underestimating the fuel that is needed to support what is going on inside my body right now!
*The plan of action: if my stomach growls.. regardless of what time of day it is or if I think I've already eaten too many calories.. I need to eat something ASAP!
Second, today I plan to start my pregnancy strength training exercises. I have a plan. 2 days a week... strength training! 5 days a week... cardio! (All hopefully will happen regardless of how tired I am!! I get home from work at 4:30, cook supper, & sleepy by 7:30.. in bed by 8 or 8:30! So time on weekdays is limited and I MUST BE MOTIVATED & DEDICATED to doing this!!
Strength Training Day 1:
-Squats with ball
-Seated rowing w/resistance
-Seated dead lifts w/resistance
Strength Training Day 2:
MY GOAL: To only get a big round baby belly... not huge arms, butt, thighs, etc. I do NOT want to look like an inflatable. ;-)
