Open for business

Wednesday, August 01, 2012

My past month has been a bit scrambled. I just went from being a full time stay at home dad to trying to cobble together an online business.

Between running kids around for summer camp and trying to keep up with the Laundry summer has been quite busy. My dedicated workouts have dropped off as routine has gone out the window, but I am managing to stay moving every day even if that means twenty trips up and down the stairs while working on my new venture. Somehow I am holding steady and not gaining any weight at the moment.

I won't post the link, I know that is a no no, but If you look for the store Texasteepees on you should be able to find my shop if you are curious .

Routine returns somewhat next week and it is back to three hard workouts a week.

For our ten year anniversary my wife and I purchased something useful. We got a refurbished precor elliptical and it came today. It is awesome. It is exactly the model we used to use at the gym back in Livonia. Yeah.

A shift in thinking

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Yesterday I signed up for Weight Watchers and went to my first meeting with my wife. My diet has been the real hold back between real results and returning to the place I was a year ago. Will I still be using spark people. Yep.

I think the points plus program is going to encourage even healthier eating.

As we all know the devil is in details and while I love spark's nutrition tracker it doesn't work if you aren't using it. I think the novelty of a new system will push me a little more to pay attention to what I'm eating and (over eating thanks kids leftovers).

I'm still gunning for the bonus spin everyday on Spark. 25 points earned seems to be a good balance between using and overusing the computer.

Perhaps an update next week after I drop four instant pounds.

I love it when couples choose to lose weight together. I wish my husband would join my in my weight loss journey, but he says he is sick of yoyo diets. Funny thing is we have been together for 21 years and I have never known him to be on a diet! Lol! Good luck to you and your wife. emoticon emoticon

My plan. The end of the slip and a return to what worked.

Tuesday, May 08, 2012

I haven't blogged for a while it appears. I know why a little ashamed to admit that despite being at home with my daughter and having access to my YMCA as I needed it I was unable to keep the pounds from creeping up. Well the skip has been stopped. Back to eating the things I know work for me and still getting little treats from time to time.

Balance= Success.

My stress eating tendencies have left...

Back high intensity cardio and strength training, I even jumped some rope last night with my girls. Running will probably always be my favorite cardio, but I need to use it look a tool instead of an excuse to pig out afterward.

My intent is to get back into the Couch to 5K group and encourage others as it has helped me in so many ways. I can run 3 miles again and will be back to my previous pace soon. I really want to run sub 30 minute 5k's again and a sub 60 10k.

Finally the elusive half marathon distance. It is hard to publicly commit to something that seems like a stretch, but If it isn't a big event in the Fall it will be early spring. In the short term I need to get registered for a 5k I love the runner's buzz and excitement of whole event.

So for now it is get back to it. Eat healthier and get real. Hope anyone who reads this is well and getting in their 10 minutes every day.

Falling into Step

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Went to the YMCA yesterday morning thinking that I was going to be getting there just in time to try out a sculpting class. I walk up to the door and realize that it is step first then sculpt. I tried the class anyway and while I'm sure I looked like Frankenstein doing jazzercise, but I kept up pretty well. The only problem was my calves wouldn't stop screaming at me in my sleep last night. Oh well the class was fun and I will do it again.

The step makes for a great calf workout...even for Frankenstein! I really like it, but ever since I broke my ankle, I'm afraid of falling off the I just stay away from it now.
