This is the first weekend EVER that I've felt like I accomplished something significant. I have been trying for years to get my house in order, but I've never managed to get on top of it before.
It seems like I am always behind and before I can do any maintenance kinds of housekeeping, I have to get it in shape first.
My goal the last 3 weeks was to get the kitchen organized, cook or eat at home daily, maintain the kitchen, etc. And I have achieved that. I feel really good about that.
And since I didn't have to completely start over in the kitchen, I was able to get to the laundry today. I had a ton of clean stuff that had not been folded and just now spent 45 min folding, organizing, etc.
Dr. Melinda Blackman talks about "Environmental Factors" in her book Mind Your Diet. She mainly refers to the people in your life who influence your choices about what you eat, etc. BUT I seriously see it in my own life as a single person, that it applies to much more than that. It applies to my own ability to maintain a healthy environment here at home.
So I'm struggling to find a place for everything and have everything in its place. I think less clutter, maintaining the kitchen especially, will allow me time to get to the other pieces of the house that I don't get to very often.
Wish me luck!

My biggest hurdle is exhaustion. I went to the grocery right after work, came home and put the stuff away, ate some dinner, and sat for a few minutes.
I know that when I go to the grocery, my biggest hurdle is to get stuff prepared - for example, make a big salad bowl - from which I will eat all week, cut up the strawberries so they are easy to just grab. It makes everything so convenient.
I know that's what needs done.
But I am so exhausted I can barely hold my head up and it's only 7:30pm. I did manage to cut up the broccoli because I have to make a casserole early in the morning because I have to be at church at 9am for a funeral and it's half an hour away. So the casserole has to be done and in a crockpot to keep warm by 8:30am. So I KNEW I had to cut up the broccoli to make the morning go a little easier.
I'm eating healthy and doing water aerobics. I'm losing weight...and I'm eating balanced diet, but my energy level is really low sometimes...especially in the evening. Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone has any ideas for me. Thanks.

Talk about a slow loser.
I began using Spark in June 2009. This morning, I finally got down 50 lbs - actually 51.2 lbs.
It's been a long road, but I think I'm learning some things in the process.
I lost only 15 of it in 2011, but actually gained and lost and gained and lost - until I finally figured out how to keep it off.
The last 6 weeks, I've really been doing well with healthy eating and lost another 11 lbs. Now I just need to keep up the routines! WooHoo!

I'm doing fairly well with my goals. It sounds like a lot, but they are so inner-connected that they are hardly separable.
Here's part of what I'm working on:
1) staying on budget and on plan (healthy eating)
2) save money
3) lose 35 lbs more by June 30
4) do water aerobics daily
5) eat at home
6) maintain the household chores at home
So today I took a day off to work on getting the kitchen in shape, organized, etc so I can keep with this plan. I am exhausted, but I got a lot done.

I have worked HARD today. I still have laundry to do, but I got a lot done today in both the kitchen and the laundry.
I enjoy Sylvester, but the belly to the ground inspection of the newly mopped kitchen was a little much. You'd think he'd never seen it done before! SIGH! But he was in the basement this time while I was doing it, so I guess that explains the reaction...and I may not have used the same cleaner - maybe it had a different scent. Who knows?
I was almost too tired to make something to eat, but since one of my goals is to eat at home, I decided I deserved something home-made - or quasi homemade.
So I chose something simple. I had made salad earlier and chose some penne pasta with a canned Hunt's dressing to accompany the salad.
The salad is one of those with everything in it almost...all of my favorites, tomato, mushrooms, green peppers, cauliflower, cucumbers, onion, etc.
I also made the entire half box that was left of the penne and put some in a container so i could have it for a quick lunch tomorrow! I think I'm starting to figure this eating at home thing out!
