The wonder

Thursday, October 30, 2014

It's an interesting time we're in.

Over 31.5 weeks along. With twins which they tell me usually come early.

Are the twins going to come tomorrow? (The Braxton Hicks contractions Tuesday made me wonder!) OR are they going to be some of the few that actually make it close to the due date?

As my husband and I put things away in the nursery late last night, I wondered if we needed to be doing these last minute things or not......will we be glad that we did when the babies come early or are we going to have a good part of November and part of December to wait?

Oh the anticipation and uncertainty of waiting for twins to come! :) Love it though!

Hey girl! I would say get as much things done as you can NOW. You may start popping hardcore toward the end which will make you super tired. And it will be good for you to rest more and put your feet up hanging out in the nursery. I wish I would have done more things in the second and first trimester than waiting toward the end! We did wash all his sheets, towels and clothes in baby dreft and hung everything up which was pretty intense because he was the first on both sides and had a ton of stuff. That was probably the most labor intensive!

You are almost there!

Braxton Hicks

Wednesday, October 29, 2014

So yesterday I had my first ever Braxton Hicks contractions

First time with this pregnancy- and it's my first pregnancy so I've never experience this at all.

They were so painful! I woke up and could barely move they hurt so bad. They didn't last a real long time, tho it felt like it!

I did call my doctor's clinic and tho he was out, the nurses talked to me about it. I described everything that had happened and they said that it sounded like Braxton hicks, especially since they stopped after a while and didn't re-start.

It really put the fear in me though......all of a sudden I was thinking, oh my gosh! Is this the time!? Are they coming? I'm pretty much ready but still had baby shower thank you cards to write and I needed to wash the baby crib bedding in Dreft/baby detergent.

SO- tho they ended up being 'false labor' , it gave me the motivation I needed to get some more done yesterday in the nursery!

Thankful that the babies are still getting some more time to 'bake.'
I'm 31.5 weeks along so we're still wanting them to get a lil bigger before they make their big debut! :)

Yes, it kinda took me off guard. I mean, you spend so much time getting 'ready' but then when it actually becomes a possibility......eeks! :)

Great weekend

Monday, October 27, 2014

OH what a nice weekend it was

Makes it hard to go back to work on Monday, that's for sure!

We had our third of 3 baby showers this past Saturday

My family members hosted one for us in my hometown this weekend for family and for local friends.
It was a great time and we got a lot of neat things.

My aunt did all kinds of things for the 'twin' theme.........
on the menu they had
Pears (get it.......pair.........)
Twice baked potatoes
Double chocolate brownies
Double decker sandwiches
Double stuf oreos

They gave out huge pears and packs of double mint gum as favors. It was very fun

Also this weekend we celebrated my 4 nieces and nephews' birthdays on Saturday. These are my brother's 4 kids. They are 2, 5, 7, and 9.
Such cute ages!

But alas back to work today. So thankful for the weekend though!

Yeah I'm happy that our kids will have cousins.

My brother has 4, then my husband's sister and brother each have one.

PUPPS or something else?

Thursday, October 23, 2014

So my skin, mostly the top of my baby bump, has gotten really not just itchy but also painful-feels like it's on fire......I have been reading up and I'm wondering if it isn't a PUPPS rash- or maybe it's something else.

I'm going to ask my doctor.

But if anyone has dealt with pregnancy PUPPS skin problems, or just skin irritation/itching/on-fire feeling in general, let me know what worked for you!!

I have used a cold cloth and that helps and I apply a lot of lotion but I'm not sure what else to do until I ask my doctor.

More info- not always a good thing

Wednesday, October 22, 2014

So I have been trying to keep reading online about things to do with pregnancy and delivery. The internet has actually been a great source of information for me.

However, now that I'm over 30 wks along, I'm more reading things about labor and delivery- instead of the side effects, etc of pregnancy that I used to read.

In some of my reading yesterday, I read an article of things that women said no one told them about labor and delivery that they wish they'd known. Sounds like a great idea right? Not so much.

The stories were horrific and made me question whether or not I can do this.

But that reminded me that this will be another time, as with so many others in my life, when I will just have to trust God and put it all in His hands.

I can't do it, not alone. But I can do it in His strength. I will trust Him to get me through it. :)

Absolutely. Not much is in your control that day EXCEPT your faith and frankly that is all you need dear! And your husband's hand to squeeze too!

I was TERRIFIED about giving birth as well. You can prepare all you want but the truth is nothing really is in your control. The perfect pregnancy can lead to getting sick at the last minute like me. And the most awful pregnancy can lead tot he most easiest and peaceful of births. You just don't know. Trust your body at this point is probably the most important. Notice things that dont seem normal like more swelling, hydration, breast pain, etc. Keep walking and praying. We are here to cheer you on.

Thanks everyone for the support and encouragement!

And yes I agree- I need to maybe stop reading these things- at least the ones that sound like they're going to be intimidating stories......and also I keep reminding myself that women do this all the time- they've been doing it since the time of Adam and Eve- others have had babies/twins before so He will get me through it, too! :)

Thanks again for your sweet words! :)

I have a son who will be 2 in a few months. Time has flew by. I like you was terrified about giving birth. I held off for as long as we did because I was scared but let me tell you dont let these online stories steer you wrong. Women were made to have babies. God gives us strength and pushes us through everything especially our fears. Trust in him and prepare mentally for labor. It might be uncomfortable but it will be over soon and so worth it! I was expecting the worst and well it wasnt as bad as I imagined it. Don't be afraid to get pain relief if you need it and the best thing is that your husband will be there the entire time to comfort you and hold your hand. It will be fine. I quit reading the online stories because they made me anxious and scared. Congrats on your pregnancy with twins!! Best of luck =)

Now might be the time where "ignorance is bliss", or at least filter what you're reading. My wife works at a pediatrics office and is exposed to most of the bad things that can happen. The rough/bad stories happen very very seldom. Most people don't talk about the hundreds of thousands of great stories. Everything will be wonderful and your new family will be wonderful as well. emoticon

There is a book you need to read. Mind Over Labor. Please, check it out. It will also help you get through it. By the time the 38-40 week range comes, you will be ready to go through it! (at least that is what everyone tells me, my kiddo came at 34!!!)
