Back to Work :) YEAH!!!!

Monday, October 10, 2011

After my surgery m,y life is looking more and more of a healthy version of my previous life.

Last week I was able to work from home. That was nice but I am thrilled to be back in the office. I really do LOVE my job!

I am still working on my new diet post surgery and dont always feel great after eating something, but the weight is coming off and I am happy to be back in the swing of things. My biggest struggle with this is making myself a priority and making the time to work out. Hopefully this week I can starighten things out and get back on track with the working out.

Sounds like things are going very well for you! I'm so glad. I've been praying for you for a fast and good recovery from your surgery and that things get better for you every day! You are absolutely right...you do have to make time for yourself, and to make sure you are doing things right to get into shape. You want to make sure the surgery wasn't done for nothing! Keep up the good work! We miss you in the Narced Lounge.

My grandpa just passed away...

Sunday, September 18, 2011

Wow, this past week has been so difficult. I had surgery last Monday for gastric bypass which went well. I have been getting stronger day by day, however my biggest supporter, Andy has to work a lot right now as it is his busy season. I knew this going in, but I have now found out additional news about his job that he will be changing job duties which will uproot out life a bit.....

On top of this he had to be out of town today, tomorrow and Tuesday for work meetigns that he cannot miss. My Mom called not knowing he was gone and told me my grandpa passed away at 3 pm.

Good thing is that I cannot eat my sorrow away, because of the surgery. So instead I went for a walk. I still don't feel great but I am glad I got out and walked a bit ( even though it is raining here and I needed an umbrella). It made me feel better that I handled this in a healthy way as well.

I just wish my honey was here as I really just need a good long hug ands snuggle from him.

I am sorry that you have suffered this loss. At least your grandfather knew about your surgery and how you were working so hard to be healthy. I am sure he is very proud of you. Savor the memories of times together with him.

Try to speak with your husband every evening and share with him what is going on with you emotionally and physically. He may be far away physically but he is still close as a phone receiver emotionally.

You are doing well in not turning to food. If you need help call your doctor and request a referral to a counselor. We all need help sometimes.

3 days post op...

Thursday, September 15, 2011

First morning I woke up in my own bed since my surgery. The surgery went extremely well. A big thanks to my surgeon dr. Manfred Chaing and the entire nursing staff of Elmbrook Memorial for thte fantastic care!

I woke up sore this morning but am doing well. I am trying to only take my pain meds once I really need them. I took them at 5 pm last night and made it to 7:30 this morning!

Time for a morning walk :)

Pillow Pet

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

So since deciding to have my surgery various people have recommended having a pillow to hold against your tummy to help the pain.

I was at Walmart yesterday getting my protein drink for my pre-surgery diet and saw the mini-pillow pets - and thought how cute! They only had a Panda that I loved but he was kinda raggedy so I went home and went on line and found the whole line up of mini pillow pets. After spending the next half hour deciding on which one would be the best companion for me during my surgery I ended up with the moose. On top of being cute, I have an up north wood themed guest room and thought he could go in there on the bed once he served his main purpose. emoticon

Next steps are do some practical things like fill out paper work! emoticon

That's the spirit! Word to the wise press him to your tummy when getting in and out of bed or chairs, it's a life saver. Got me through a c section and abdominal surgery.
Good luck and you'll be in my prayers.

Coming to a conclusion of a chapter - time for a new one...

Friday, August 19, 2011

I was very discouraged this spring as I felt I had made an honest effort to exercise and eat healthy, with very little results. Needless to say I had all but given up.

I had been seeing a therapist for loosing weight for almost a year. At the end of February (around the time of may last blog) I decided to look into the lap band. I went to an informational session and was interested that the surgeons at this clinic do all types of weight loss surgeries, and most of them were now done laproscopically.

I had looked into the Gastric Bypass - RNY surgery approximately 10 years prior and myself and my husband decided at that point that it was best if I continued to try and loose weight without surgery. Back then you were cut all the way open - and that scared me.

I researched surgeons and looked further into the different options and decided now was the time. I had tried long enough on my own and I needed a stronger tool than meetings such as weight watchers or food programs like Jenny Craig to loose the weight. Looking at the surgeries the RNY was the best option for me.

I have since March been meeting with doctors, going to appointments and completing a ton of research, reading books, blogs and discussing with friends. Thanks SP Gastric Bypass sparklers for your informaiton and support!

My surgery date is set for Monday September 12th and I am looking forward to a new chapter in my life.

I wish you well on the upcoming date. Make sure you do everything you need to afterwards. Too many people waste this opportunity doing the wrong things. All the best and be well!

Congratulations on your surgery decision. Glad you spent the time to research it so well and be comfortable with your decision. The exercise habit and healthier eating habits will make the time after surgery much easier.
