Devil's Canyon Hike

Monday, June 06, 2011

This was a beautiful day for a hike. I am so grateful I was out before the more gusty winds came along. This is my first attempt to add pictures to a blog so here goes...

My background is also a picture of Devil's Canyon taken last year in the afternoon so it changes the whole setting. There are no pictures of me in here because I was holding the camera.
Happy Trails Everyone!

Where did I go?

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

I was curious to see when I last blogged and was really surprised to see that it was in February! I guess I was busy... My exercise is really not on track so I have been bummed by that. I am grateful that I will soon have more time to get out there and enjoy the sun. That is if we ever get more than an hour of sun with all the rain. Where do I live, not Seattle! What is up with all the rain? Ok, enough of the whinning. I really like rain, just not when I actually want to go outside. Bring on the sunny days!

We don't need any more rain. The river is high enough already. This week should be beautiful - not too hot. Are you going to train for another 5k?

I seem to run in cycles on blogging - I've been on a "no blog" cycle for about a year now! And I TOTALLY agree on the rain. I guess I shouldn't complain since we don't have the flooding that others have, but after our long winter I'm ready for some SUN!!!

One Year Ago...

Monday, February 28, 2011

I said that I was just sick to death of me. I was not happy with how I was not in control of my eatting and how my clothes were fitting. Fortunately, I said this to the right person and was offered the support I needed to get extremely serious about changing my life. I also was a not-so-very active member of this website. On March first of last year that all changed.
Since then:
I have tracked my food daily and added exercise into my life.
I have lost over 35 pounds.
I have maintained that loss for over six months.
I became vegatarian.
I have completed two running events.
I have learned about my needs both physically and mentally.
So today I am not sick at all of me. I eat to be comfortable in my clothes not to comfort my emotions. I eat for my health and exercise for my emotional well-being.

I don't begin to do any of this perfectly. But for the past year I have done it mostly "well". I have surpassed my grandest expectations of me and plan to continue on this path.

Thanks to all of you for the support, inspiration, and company along the way.

It is great that we don't have to be perfect. Maintaining for six months is wonderful. What an encouragement for the rest of us. Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations on the new healthy you. You have done great.

I agree that Sparkpeople is a great support site and I am loving it too. I hope next January I will be able to write a blog like yours - except not the vegetarian part!

Changing What I Can

Monday, December 20, 2010

Ok, so winter is not helping me to maintain my current weight zone. As of today I have offically broken out of my top number on the scale. I cannot change the weather. With the lack of exercise, particularly outdoor running, my weight has contunially crept upwards.
I need a plan of attack to keep this trend from getting away from me completely. I am starting with replacing the ourdoor running.
1. I have a treadmill and have even added the use of music to help me get and stay on it. It's just not the same as being outside (I need to get over that thought).
2. I own dozens of exercise videos and dvds. My excuse for not using them is lack od space and time (both lies). I will organize them and schedule one per day, minimum.
3. I am pretty sure Santa or someone like him will get me a Wii Fit for Christmas. It is the ONLY think I have asked for this year. That will be a new challenge.

One thing I have added is water, lots more water. I am also going to try a more raw food approach. I have kind of gotten off track with my food. I know what works and I need to revisit some of my choices. Anyway, those are my thoughts this morning. I hope your journey is peaceful today.

I am starting today. Can't allow more "slippage" in my program. I am absolutely planning to get in a 5K next year. Actually, I am going to train toward a 10K if I can find one. I am getting excited about the Wii Fit since all the comments seem so positive about it. emoticon

I love my Wii Fit Plus. I could have written this for me lol. You have a good plan set up. Are you starting it today? Are you planning and 5k's for next year?

We are now in the season to think on what we are grateful for. The list for me is long. Today I am grateful for all areas in my life; home, work, health, mind, and spirit. Now none of these areas are going exactly as I would have them but I am grateful for that too. Being somewhat of a control freak this keeps me in check. I continue to grow and learn about myself and what I am capable of daily. If there were no challenges I couldn't do that. There is always room for improvement. One thing that comes up for me dailyto be grateful for is this site and the support, information and inspiration I receive here. So thank you for being a part of that for me. emoticon
