I'm back.

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

So I didn't completely fall off our anything. But I did take a break from spark people. I've realized that when I log my food, my choices tend to be better. Mostly because I hold myself more accountable with what goes in my mouth. Without a food journal of sorts, you lose that.

So I'm currently sitting at about 256, which is great! But I could do more. I want to do more. I could give everyone excuses about school and work making exercise and dieting harder, but it's really about the time I put in that reflects what I get out. I know I can do better.

It's good that you're not making excuses. Taking breaks is okay. We all do that from time to time. But you're coming back, which is wonderful, and now you can take the next steps forward! :)

Wub # 4 July's out the door

July 23rd - 29th + month recap.
1) Exercise at least 5 times a week with 3 days of strength training. -This past week kinda fell apart. It was my busiest work week by far and i let it affect how much exercise I got. I did get to walk almost every day at least 20 minutes so it wasn't a total loss. Overall the month was awesome though. I more than made up for it other weeks.

2)
2) Keep sodium levels in the 500-2000 range. - I've only gone over a couple days this month so I'm doing great.

3) Continue eliminating diet soda and caffeine from my diet. - Maybe I should pick a new August goal, because this one is super easy now!

4) Eat a healthy balance of grains, fruits, veggies, legumes, lean meats etc. and still hit my calorie, sodium, fat, protein goals. - Hitting all my goals here for July, thankfully.

5) Run continuously for 30 minutes at one time. - I've hit this before, just not last week.

6) Lose at least 15 pounds. I didn't meat this goal for July but I'm ok with that. I'm still losing weight.

7) Try or create 4 healthy recipes - I've definitely hit this goal. Since Angelique hasn't been feeling well lately, I've taken over in the kitchen. I bought Hatch peppers at my local grocer (since they're in season) and went to town, putting them in a stir fry and making a salsa with them. I've come up with other things too.

8) Build up enough stamina to get through the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred Video - Didn't do it this week at all. I plan to tackle it next week.

9) Get 8 hours of sleep each night - This will definitely be an August goal. I crashed and burned except on the weekends.

11) Maintain an average blood sugar reading between 80-150 - Still doing great here! Well within range. My nurse practitioner was happy with my readings and my weight loss! I had lab work done too, and it came out great. Heart rate is at 110/70 and my cholesterol is fantastic too.

emoticon Keep implementing little changes and moving forward one day at a time. A busy life can be hard to juggle with getting healthy, but perfection isn't' possible and isn't necessary to make the changes that we need. We just need to make the best choice that we can with what we have and keep moving forward. Best wishes!

I love seeing the husband/wife support between both of you! That 30 minutes of running is going to be huge, I'm now realizing that it's harder than I think it is.

Good luck next week and hopefully I'll see y'all in the BLC chat!

My motivational collage.

Thursday, August 02, 2012

Well folks, it's so busy at work that I haven't had much time to actually blog. But, I wanted to share with everyone my exercise collage I made. It's sort of a reflection of me, silly but at the same time serious about diet and exercise.

Here's a link to it, since Sparkpeople loves to resize my pictures to teeny tiny size ;-)

It's not silly, it would be silly if it was not a reflection of you. I think you did a great job and I hope you find all the motivation you need in it.

July WUB #3

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Well folks, it's time for another fine edition of my weekly update blog. I think I missed a week, so this one is brought to you on this late date by the fine folks at Procrastination™! Anyways I like this week's biggest loser challenge, strength training, and goal visualizing. I have my goals posted on the fridge and on my computer at work, so I'm definitely spending time checking my progress. Here's the latest:

July 9th - 22nd:
1) Exercise at least 5 times a week with 3 days of strength training. -I definitely got my exercise in, but kinda fell apart half way through the week on strength training. Only got one day in if I remember. I'm refocus my efforts, especially for this week!
3) Continue eliminating diet soda and caffeine from my diet. - Soda and caffeine?I hardly know ye. Doing great here.
4) Eat a healthy balance of grains, fruits, veggies, legumes, lean meats etc. and still hit my calorie, sodium, fat, protein goals. - Doing well! I went over on my sodium only on one day, but otherwise I did great.

5) Run continuously for 30 minutes at one time. - I hit it this week! I did 41 minutes this monday and wednesday! I'm there!

6) Lose at least 15 pounds. I've got about 6 pounds to lose. It would be really tough to hit it in 2 weeks but I'm optimistic.

7) Try or create 4 healthy recipes - Angelique and I tag-teamed on making some fantastic salsa. My mother-in-law stopped by just get some more!

8) Build up enough stamina to get through the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred Video - I did it twice last week. This week I think I'll switch to rowing as part of the challenge is trying a new cardio workout.

9) Get 8 hours of sleep each night - Oh goodness, that was part of the challenge last week, get 7 hours of sleep. I mostly managed. Can't say the same for this week. I really want to get to sleep earlier, I do I swear!

11) Maintain an average blood sugar reading between 80-150 - Fantastic as usual since starting SP. My Doc will be in Shock :)

Procrastination...oh my goodness does it get around. Procrastination is okay as long as we don't allow it to deter us for too long. Don't let it deter you just keep moving towards you goals. emoticon on jogging for 41 minutes. I am still working the walk/jog and that kick my butt every morning at 5:15AM. But you know what at least we are working towards our goals. emoticon Aaron all this hard work will be worth it!
