Around March 10 I tried to start the Ayurveda eating plan. There were many road blocks not to mention not being able to eat some of the many foods that helped me a great deal with my weight loss. It has been a very difficult plan to follow, however, there are some positive aspects that I will continue to do. As far as following it to the letter – forget it!
The aspects I will continue to do are healthy and they are attainable for me to meet my goals and still be happy about doing it.
Eat easy to digest foods for breakfast and dinner. My largest meal will be lunch and my smallest meal is dinner. Eat vegetables, mostly ones that are not in the “night shade” family, fruits as long as I don’t eat too many with lots of acids, and lean meat, mostly fish and poultry. That I can do.
If anyone else has tried the Ayurveda Plan, I’d love to hear about it.

Today's assignment is to list all the reasons you want to lose weight.
To keep from going back on medication for high cholesterol, to keep acid reflex out of my life, look better, feel better, to be physically active, to control depression as working out gives me more endorphin and makes me a happier person.
What do you want to change? My attitude, my body shape, my energy level.
How do you want to look? Fantastic!
How do you want to feel? Full of life and energy, have a sense of well being
What things will you be able to do in the future with a slimmer healthier body?
Workout with ease, fit in an airplane seat! I barley fit in one a few years ago.
And list all the OTHER things that you want to change!
It would be very rewarding to be able to stay at a healthy weight without even trying. But, I guess it just doesn't work that way.
The most important thing is to have a written record to remind yourself of your goals and motives. During the 56 days of this challenge it will keep you going when you remind yourself why you are doing this.
Write out your strategy to avoid the Triggers. Maybe it will be baby steps to get you started or moderation. Don’t be a perfectionist. Consider most of the time you will get it right.
This is how I will avoid these triggers:
Look at the nutritional values of the food. Usually the fat grams will make me not want it.
Get outside, either go for a walk or bike ride. If it is raining I will pop in a dvd. This however is easier said than done. If that doesn't work, I'll call a friend or email one.

Thanks to everyone that gave me some great tips for curbing my " bad eating habits"! Today on Dr. Oz discussed curbing salty and sweet cravings also. I hope the next eight weeks goes as well as the past 2 days. For a list of strategies from the show go to Doctoroz.com . For dinner tonight I tried broccoli, couscous, turmeric and curry spice mix with a wedge of laughing cow cheese. Also had a salad and a biscuit. I am totally satisfied.
Printed off the checklist
Was going to plan 3 meals for tomorrow but our stove died! It isn't even that old! So I have breakfast planned.
I have lots of fresh veggies so will have salads for 2 of my meals and will have to go shopping for some microwave dinners.
Have my workouts planned
Have snacks planned.
It's a win win! Have a great weekend!

Quick update on my blog for eating the Ayurveda way. Eating for your body type. Last week did go better but it was hard to eliminate a few things, ah, like beer and salt! No, not together, but I seem to remember my dad drinking his beer and sometimes he'd put salt on it.
Weighed in today and am up a lb. Dang, I knew I shouldn't have drank beer, but I have good excuses! Twins vs. Rays game for one thing, oh then there was the kettle corn. Tell me, who can go to a ball game and not have beer and popcorn? Well, if you can, good for you! More power to you! I am going to keep trying to eat for my body, I am noticing things like more energy and feeling better mentally. I really do think it will be good for me so I'm hoping this new challenge will help speed up the process and get me to actually give up those bad foods.
A couple days ago one of my SP friends sent me an invite to join this 5% challenge. I'd seen it around but never really thought about it. Challenges really do help me meet my goals and I'm really excited to get going on it. I hope my weigh in weight is down by the time it starts. Hope to see some of my SP buds there!
