Fun Run

Tuesday, June 04, 2013

I did it!! I did my first 5K this past Saturday. It was the Kansas City color run and I had a blast. I didn't run the entire thing but enjoyed every minute. My friend and our teenage boys did it together. Still working on that healthy lifestyle but this was a step in the right direction.

That is awesome! Congrats to you! I just did my first 5K a month ago and I jogged/walked. It does give a sense of accomplishment - so let that carry you thru to the healthy lifestyle. I hear that the Color Run is so much fun! I might try it next year.
Good job!

Don't bring me down!

Tuesday, April 23, 2013

I am generally an optomist. Lately my self talk has been anything but. I think instead of focusing on that I am going to do my best to encourage others and not be the downer in the room.

Encouraging others will really help your own wellbeing. Keep it up.

I'm like you, usually upbeat. But there are times when that doesn't seem to be working. Just remember, this too shall pass. It always gets better.

Snow, Love it and Hate it

Friday, March 08, 2013

The past 2 weeks have been busy. We had 2 snow storms in 2 weeks! Love the fact that we got over 1 1/2 feet of snow. We needed the moisture and it's so pretty!

Hate the fact I had to stay the night at work a total of 4 days. ( I have a long commute and the roads were a mess) Couldn't prepare my meals those days but Hospitals do have cafeteria's and I made the best of it.

Loved the fact that we had fresh powder and I took my kids to a local ski area and we all took lessons. Had soo much fun and hopefully burned off quite a few calories as I hadn't been able to get my workouts in.

Spring is on the way with daylight savings ringing it in. The snow is melting and soon will be missed. Getting back in the swing of things and started my workouts at home again. Better get sweatin'

March is always a difficult month for me. Besides being so long, it's still cold outside and windy besides and I am impatient for spring.

Loving the intervals

Sunday, February 10, 2013

I've was introduced to interval training 6 months ago and have been using it on the treadmill ever since. When I started I could barely run 1 minute at 6mph. Friday I was able to run 6 two minute intervals at 8mph and recover for 3 minutes walking 4 mph. I probably need to push it a little more as I barely broke a sweat. But I feel great and can't wait to do my first 5K. I plan on running at least the half of it but it would be awesome to run the entire thing!

Fantastic February

Friday, February 01, 2013

Well my 6 month membership at a small group personal training gym is complete. Down 20 pounds and 11 inches, 10 pounds shy of my goal but I can't believe the muscles I've developed. Now it's time to continue the transformation on my own. I still struggle with eating healthy consistantly so my goal this month is to keep up my workouts and be sure to log my food every day (being accountable for food choices). Hopefully this will lead to a 6 lb wight loss or better and personal satisfaction.

I've also been wanting to run a 5K but keep putting it off. A friend of mine asked if I wanted to do a color run with her on June 1st. So we both signed up and our teenage sons will be coming with us. That gives me 4 months to train.

Also turned in my application for grad school. I'll find out in March if I was accepted and will probably start in May. So I really need to cultivate those healthy habits to make it easier to maintain when things get extra busy.

Going to have to get a smart phone or digital camera so I can start sharing my progress. I feel great!!
