help with motivation ....

How do you get the motivation, the energy, the want to to exercise when you don't want to?
I want to lose weight.
I need to lose weight.
But I can't seem to make myself exercise. And that is my biggest enemy. ... my laziness.
I can't seem to make myself get off my butt and move.
Any advice?

    I agree with some of the others. Headaches during exercise are a sign that something isn't right. You may be dehydrated, exercising at too high an intensity, or there could be something more serious going on. If I were you, I'd see a doctor.

As for motivation, I'm a little bit addicted to the feeling of accomplishment I get when I finish. That keeps me motivated. I also like knowing I'm strong enough to do my job and other things I enjoy. I've also found that if I pick an activity I also enjoy (such as swimming, biking, and dancing) I don't have to make myself workout.

    I agree with Nellie, exercise shouldn't cause a pounding headache! You must see a doctor to investigate vascular, migraine, etc headaches.

I would totally avoid exercise also, if those headaches were the result!

    I know why I have stopped. ..... because it makes my head pound with my heart beat. I don't get the "high" from it any more. Just read "31 Ways to Motivate Yourself to Exercise" ... number 1 was because of the high, and it hit me.... My head pounds to much to get the high.

Portion control containers ....

I'm thinking about getting some portion control containers and was wondering if any of you use them and have they helped you lose weight.

I love having my meals already ready. Sitting in the refrigerator waiting on me. I saw that "21 day fix" commercial this morning. So that is why I'm thinking about getting something. ... But I want like a weeks worth.

I would do really good with one of those programs where the food is sent to your home. But I can't afford that.

so do any of you use portion control containers? If so what kind? And are they helping you?

    I just have some simple rubbermaid containers. Some of them actually have how many cups are in each. I bought 1/2 cup, 1 cup and 2 cup containers. I also use the simple zip loc snack bags for things like grapes and nuts. Most of my containers are even dishwasher safe. I too find it helps to have these containers. When you have them, you know EXACTLY the amount to track. I think it's a good idea! emoticon

    I use Lean Cuisine for my lunches and Healthy Choice for my dinners. The only meal I cook from scratch is the eggs I have for breakfast.

The cereal I have at breakfast, I pour into a bowl that is exactly one cup, and has a marking at 1/2 for the milk I put in.

    emoticon Portion Control is a Major Part of any Successful Weight Control Plan. Whether you use Tupperware or the Portion Control Containers you are thinking of, I think it should work. I think you could also consider the Low Calorie Frozen Dinners like Smart Ones, Lean Cuisine, Amy's, or Kashi. Just choose carefully because some of them have INSANELY High Sodium Levels!

    I don't do that, but I've heard of people having good luck with using good containers that freeze and then freezing lots of different dishes in portions and they're ready to go.

Nesting without pregnancy ...

Can we do that? Can we have nesting without being pregnant? Or am I avoiding what I should be doing by doing something else? .....hmmm......
I should be painting the trim in the hallway, but instead I'm cleaning out my kitchen cabinets. Oh they need it, so it's not like I'm just trying to fill my time. But I feel the need to clean them out.
After I straightened up the living room last night, then dusted (at 10) I started working on the cabinets till 11:30 (had to go get kiddo from work). Then jumped back on it this morning. I now have 3 empty shelves! ... and a clothes basket full of glasses that haven't been used in over a year, some NEVER! I had spices and tea that had expired in 2010!!!! Can we say out of sight out of mind??? ... so I might have more than 3 shelves empty now. LOL!
But I should be painting. The cat's scratch tree is laying in the floor (It's the kind that goes from floor to ceiling). The 6 foot ladder is in the foyer. The drop cloth is in the middle of the hall floor. The paint brushes are in plastic bags on the table. I have everything out. There's even the first coat of paint on the trim. So why am I not finishing up that????? wish I had the answers to how my brain works, then maybe I would be able to understand why I do what I do.
And maybe even figure out why my weight is going up, then down, then up again. It isn't going over my start weight, but close. I'll swing a pound a two either way every day. Today I'm down from yesterday. Yesterday I was up from the day before. GRRRRR!!!!! Maybe I should just stay off the scale. haha!!
Oh well I guess I need to get back to my messes. I'll probably finish up the kitchen, it's kind of a mess now. Hope you are having a wonderful fun filled day!

Hey did any of you see an ORANGE moon last night??? It looked so weird.

    My weight fluctuates like crazy too. It can be frustrating at times. Try to just watch for progress over time. Eventually, your lower days should be lower than previously lower days and your higher days should be lower than previous higher days.

As for the painting, I'm not sure. Maybe the cleaning out the kitchen cabinets is more enjoyable. Either way, you're accomplishing something.

    I didn't notice the moon last night.

My weight tends to fluctuate from day to day also. I suspect that is the case with most people. It isn't big dramatic fluctuations, but it is there. However, if your fluctuations are making you nervous, it might be an idea to only weigh in once a week or once a month. It depends on your reaction to the fluctuations.

So why would you be putting off the painting? If you are like me, maybe being up on that ladder makes you feel nervous about falling. Or maybe the odor of fresh paint isn't very good to you. That is something you have to figure out.

That's how I feel sometimes. I want to lose weight so I cut my calories back.
Eat a ton of veggies. emoticon emoticon emoticon
Stay away from the junk.
Pounds start coming off. emoticon
Then WHAM!!!
I get hit by fatigue, weakness and wobbliness. emoticon
Now I could understand if I was cutting my calories back to, say, 600 a day. But I'm not. I'm staying between 1100 and 1500 per day.
I haven't been exercising a whole lot. When I pedal on my bike I keep it on level 1, so it's not tiring. And I keep my pedal speed under 12 mph.
This past week I've noticed that I've been sleeping more and needing it. Then last night I felt the fatigue. Now today I'm very wobbly.
So I have to bump up my calories for a few day, quit exercising, and take it easy. So not what I want to be doing, but if I don't I'll have a major fatigue attack that will put me out for months. emoticon emoticon emoticon GRRRRR!!!
Oh well. That's my life. I will still watch my serving size and log. Hopefully this thing won't last to long.

But on the up side ... hubby goes back to work tomorrow!! After 2 months of sick leave because he has been dizzy ... I am so ready to get back to our normal routine! Hope you're having a great day! emoticon emoticon

    Keep up the bike peddling if not eating junk food then you should be able to eat more veggies to keep your strength up. Glad you are still watching your meal sizes... emoticon
