Saturday, October 03, 2009

I have trouble getting enough protein some days.
I am not vegan, but meat isn't my favorite food either.
This article is worth reading a few times.

Mindful Eating Challenge for October 2

Friday, October 02, 2009

Yesterday, I had an evening snack planned. I never ate it. So, today I deleted it.
Either way I was in my calorie range.

I have been also tracking my prescribed minerals and Fish Oil pills.
The Fish Oil pills bump up my fats. I have been ignoring that. But usually I stay in range.
I love almonds. I usually don't eat more than an ounce a day. Yesterday, I ate 8 too many almonds. That is a third of an ounce. I need to pay more attention.

Today, I added 1 tsp of ground Flax Seed to my 4ounce cup of yogurt. Plus ate a half cup of blueberries that I had picked and frozen last summer. I was worried that the Flax Seed would ruint the yogurt, but it wasn't that bad. After I added the blueberries, I really could ignore it. It was ohly 150 calories in my bowl. I didn't get hungry until noon.

I served home-made split soup to a group at chuch. It was a carry in. Everybody liked it.

Mindful Eating Challenge for October 1

Thursday, October 01, 2009

Yesterday, I ate near my max on calories. Probably making up for the day before, which was about 200 calories under.

For me, Mindful Eating does not mean depriving myself of most of my food preferences. It does mean that I avoid foods that trigger cravings.

So I do avoid foods containing any kind of sugar, including corn syrup.
I occasionally eat honey, as it does not seem to trigger cravings in the same way.
I enjoy chocolate, so I occasionally eat the Hunts sugar free chocolate pudding and add about 6 or 8 almonds to it. It isn't a Hershey's chocolate and almond bar, but it is a great substitute.

I also find if I eat something mid-morning and mid-afternoon, I am less likely to lose control of my calories.

emoticon I have fresh veggies waiting for my lunch. Plus I made a big pot of veggie soup earlier this week. Add a little protein, and my lunch will be ready.

MY Mindful Eating begins.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

I really did well with my nutrition yesterday, but I couldn't seem to eat enough calories. I am sure I tracked everything. I may have been making up for going over the two days before.

One of my goals is to eat 5 cups of veggies or fruit a day. Most of that being veggies.
I am successful with that most days, and probably had more than that yesterday.
I also try to watch my fats.
I scrambled eggs [ 1 yolk, 3 whites] yesterday and added some 2% Cheese. That alone bumped up my fats a lot, but I think it was nutritious. The rest of my fats were of the Omega 3 variety. I am probably going to have the same food this morning.

I still am not hungry, but I never miss breakfast. Time to shut down the 'puter. emoticon

Long Week is about over!

Saturday, September 26, 2009

I have had a long week that had nothing to do with eating or fitness.
But it did have to do with spending time with others.
Relieving a friend of the responsibilities of caring for her mother.
Making sure my mother got some much needed dental care.
Had lunch out with another friend. I guess that involved food that was not necessarily healthy. But I did well the rest of the day.
And volunteering in a few other capacities. And my dear husband and I spent most of the last 3 days together.
I didn't take time for everything on my last blog entry. Next week will be another new week and I will do better.

I also have been trying to greet as many new members as I can this week. If I met even 1% of them I would be surprised. But I hope all of them are enjoying their Spark Journey.
