I'm JUGGLING!!!

Saturday, April 12, 2014

I'm so excited! I think I've finally learned to juggle! Despite my Birthday week that included carrot cake, ice cream, coconut shrimp, fries, etc. , I've lost almost 2 lbs this week! It is so liberating and motivating to learn that I can still occasionally enjoy my favorite foods (in moderation, of course!) while working to lose weight. The key for me is forethought and planning. The formula looks something like this: 1 day of indulgences = 2 days of deprivation. emoticon emoticon

I agree...deprivation is no way to live. All things in moderation is much better and easier to maintain. Keep at it and don't let others get you down!

I find that 1 minute of indulgence erases about a week's worth of work. It's not worth it. I just have to remember that before, not after.

Keep up the great work. If we plan well, we do not have to deprive ourselves. Life is too short for that.

Have a great week!

Your equaton is probably optomistic it is probably more like 3 or 4 days of deprivation. Points out the cost of a small indulgence. The amount we can inulge is unlimited but deprivation has a finite limit.

Make today a great day!

Snack Bin Experiment

Wednesday, April 02, 2014

The Spring 5% Challenge starts this Saturday. I'm trying to figure out how to deal with my inevitable cravings and need to graze. I've decided to create a snack bin with low calorie choices that will hopefully get me through these tough moments. I know this isn't a revolutionary idea but it is new to me. emoticon emoticon

I snacked on a banana, grapes and baby carrots today. They filled me up and I enjoyed them.

Frozen grapes, cup of sugar free hot chocolate, sliced cucumbers and hummus, tying up your hands! Those work for me! JK on the hand thing! LOL

Dumb as it sounds, I used to chop up a bunch of red cabbage and graze on that while fixing dinner. It takes a long time to consume as many calories in cabbage as it does the one second of the 100 calorie pack.

be careful with 100 calorie prepackaged snacks they sometimes have additives that make you eat more. My favorites snacks are almonds , which keep you full longer and greek yogurt plain with blueberries yum. emoticon emoticon awesome idea to have stuff ready

Make up some fruit in baggies and keep in your refrigerator for those snacks. Or buy the 100 calorie snacks and keep them handy but just remember to only eat one. Also keeping your hands busy during those times you want to snack helps. I either embroidery or do traditional rug hooking while watching tv. Pace back and forth at times like commercials on tv. You get extra steps for exercise and keeps you from snacking. Chew sugar free gum..this one helps me a lot.

I Did It!

Friday, March 21, 2014

Yesterday, March 20th, was "Go Meatless" day... otherwise known as The Great American Meatout Day. I took the pledge several weeks ago. I'm happy to say that I followed through with a meatless day yesterday! I'm now ready to take on Meatless Mondays and who knows where I might go from there. emoticon

I love meatless days! I have an eggplant Parmesan that is my favorite meatless meal. Hubby is not to fond of it but I love it! I is like a meatless, noodless lasagna. Email me if you want the recipe! emoticon Have a Great Week!

Another Blog

Friday, March 14, 2014

As a Community Team Member, one of my responsibilities is to write a weekly blog. Sounds easy, right? Then, why do I struggle so much with this? First of all, I spend way too much time thinking about what to write! When I finally decide on a topic, I worry about whether or not I'm communicating clearly. On & on it goes. I do LOVE to text, though! Anyone interested?

I think your blog should be about how you beat yourself up about not writing enough blogs? I think you should step back just a bit and breathe deeply and give yourself some slack. Everything you write does not have to be perfect. Hang on and BREATHE!!!
