I started feeling bad on Thursday. Yesterday I didn't feel great. Today I woke up sick. Sinus hurt, congested, coughing, throat and ears hurt. Exercise didn't happen today. Slept a lot. Tried to get some medicine but there is only 1 thing I could take and the drugstore didn't have it. Tomorrow I will have to go to Walmart and get. My head is pounding. I'm going back to bed.
Both my husband and myself come from military families. My family was Army, my dh's were Marines. My dh was a Marine. Now he works for the Department of Defense. My fil and mil are buried at Arlington National Cemetery. My fil died in 1987 and my mil in 1994, 2 days after my son was born. Since we lived in NC for years we didn't make up to the Cemetery very often, then we were stationed overseas for years and only made it back twice. We came back to the states in August 2012 and live in Maryland now. It is a easy trip to the cemetery. One of the first things we did when we got here was go to the cemetery. We have been at all of the holidays and seasons. For Memorial Day weekend volunteers put flags at all of the graves. We went yesterday. It is overwhelming to look out over all of the graves. They are buried in section 60. 18 years ago, there were about 3 rows past theirs and across the street was nothing but grass. 7 years ago, section 60 was filling up and they had started burying across the street. There was also no grass at my in laws grave. There is finally grass. Here are some pictures we took.
Today was my 3 month visit. He said I'm not ready for the main event. The aneurysm hasn't grown. My valve is stable. My stenois is mild. He was very please with my heart. He wasn't too pleased with my weight, cholesterol or liver results. More fruits and vegetables, fish, limit red meat to once a week. Limit shellfish but can have all cold water fish I want. Same with chicken and turkey. Limit fast food and fried food. And salty foods. Still no weights, no push ups but I can do lower body work on the machines. But most important of all I can increase the intensity of my cardio workout. I am allowed to get my heart rate above 108.m I can raise it to between 114 and 124. Oh and I can go back to running after my foot heals completely. In fact he encouraged me to go back to it. So I'm going to first get back to walking and lower the time it takes me to walk a mile. Let my foot heal in the meantime, in about a month I will start running again. My son said that is what I should do. Need to rework my menu for the upcoming weeks.
Went back to the doctor for my foot today. Good news is it is healing. Bad news is I have to wear the boot for 5 more weeks. I'm not a happy camper right now. I guess I'm going to have to figure out a way to get exercise. The chair exercises bore me. If I'm bored I won't do them.
It is warmer today. We went out to the dam and to 2 lakes. Looking for fishing and boating areas. Walking from from the parking lot down to the lake. Not easy to do in a boot. Took some pictures. Overdid it and now my foot hurts. Going to be hard to explain to the doctor on Tuesday. But it was too pretty of a day to stay inside.
