A bit under the weather

Monday, August 27, 2012

Not back to my normal state. Yesterday after my walk I started feeling not so good. Thought I'd feel better today, but, not going very well today either. I do see my primary tomorrow and if I'm not feeling any better I will mention it. Maybe I caught a summer bug or something. emoticon I don't even feel like I can eat anything. Probably will not do much today, think I will go sit in the living room and read.

Feel better soon! Keep drinking that water, at least, even if you aren't hungry.

No more Sunday walks for me

Sunday, August 26, 2012

I didn't make it yesterday for the extra walk, just too many things to do I guess. Walked a bit with some guy who was walking his 2 dogs. At one point I looked over at his big dog and he (not the dog but the guy emoticon) said 'he is looking to see if you have any food'. I told him (the dog that is) that I didn't have any food and that I wasn't food emoticon.

When I got back home, took my shower, and started up the computer I didn't feel so good. Thought maybe if I ate something that I would feel better. I didn't even finish fixing my omelet and hash browns when I knew I had better lie down. Turned off the stove and laid down for about 30 minutes. Got up and finished fixing my breakfast. Signed on to Ustream and Paltalk for my Sunday services and wham-mo!! it hit me again. Messed my friend that I had to go lie down. I slept for a little over 2 hrs. I did warm up my 1/2 uneaten breakfast about 2 hrs after I got up. Still not up to par yet. Sure don't know what has caused all this.

Amazing homes and area. How fun for your walk. Did you know you can map your walks on the fitness tracker in sparkpeople. It is a wonderful tool. You probably already knew.

my uncle had property on Elmwood before he passed away and it was sold, wonder why the city hasn't put in more sidewalks for pedestrians...well I DO know the answer to my own question $$$

You took the walk today; I went to church (and yes, sent a prayer your way!). Riverside seems to have the same zoning laws as my section of Florida does, in that within walking distance you have historic homes, new ones, big ones, small ones, AND commercial property! Who decides these things?

That Victorian with the rampant English-style gardens might qualify for the Historic Register, it's so pretty. I actually tried growing that vine with the purple flower on it... but it grows like a weed and needed constant cut-back. Story of my horticultural life: either I love it and it won't grow, or it grows and I can't control it!

I never paid attention to architecture until I married Joe. Now I look at and appreciate the workmanship that goes into a building as much as I do its contents!

Your neighborhood is so beautifully maintained. You're fortunate to walk through such a beautiful community!

...on the EAST coast, I'm happy that Isaac veered into the Gulf. Instead of a deluge today, we only got a couple bands of rain--and that occurred after I'd gone to church and finished MY grocery shopping. Life is good! Tomorrow, well, tomorrow we'll both see what transpires!

Disappointed today with my dreary task

Saturday, August 25, 2012

I decided that I would now walk to the grocery store instead of taking the senior transportation. I wore my pedometer, but, was not happy with the reading when I got home. I mapped the route that I took and it indicated that I had walked further.

NOW, I have to go for another walk. emoticon Guess it won't hurt me any emoticon

I did manage to complete my shopping list for the up coming week. You have no idea how much I hate that task. I'm going to start on the following weeks meal plan and grocery list today. I don't know of any other way to make this any simpler or easier for that matter.

I noticed a difference in the nutritional facts of Barilla's Whole Grain Angel Hair Pasta and the Blue Box (reg) pasta.
the Whole Grain
reg Blue Box
Not sure why the whole grain is suppose to be healthier?? Is it because of the fiber??

Well, great and wonderful Sparkers I must get on with my day.

Yes, whole grain tends to have more fiber and protein which makes it a bit healthier. :)

I'm so impressed that you invited us Sparkers to walk along with you while you strolled to the grocery store today! Thanks for including us (me!).

When I joined SP in June, I sat down and mapped out all the various combinations of walking routes through my community, and now I know exactly how far I've walked every morning. It was actually kind of fascinating, "walking" my cursor along the virtual sidewalks. And I think that "Map A Route" program is extremely accurate. I've even "walked" it across fields!

I hate grocery shopping, too. But I love to eat, so I try to always leave myself a little time to just explore the market for new products. I'll write down the name and google it when I get home to see how it's used. Then next shopping trip, I'll have found a recipe and will buy the new ingredient. It makes cooking an adventure, something out of the ordinary, and a bit more exciting.

Since my husband's been overseas for 2 years now and won't be back any time soon, I do make the effort to cook a nice meal for myself a couple times a week. But I don't cook for one! Instead, I just cook for 4-6, (tracking everything, of course), divide up the extra servings into Rubbermaid leftover containers and freeze them. After a while at this, you end up with a nice number of good quick frozen meals to rotate. Of course, you need a full-sized freezer.

It's been a pleasure to make your "virtual" acquaintance!

WOW, 2 miles and still here

Thursday, August 23, 2012

When I started out this morning I had no idea where it was that I was going to walk. I told myself 'hey, just walk to where ever the sidewalk leads you'. AND that is what I did. It lead me to a 2 MILE, yes I said 2 miles, enjoyable morning. I thought I was lost for a while. Found a beautiful park, met a dog that wanted to be in the movies, and found my way back home without leaving a trail of cracker crumbs to help guide me back. emoticon

I was sure glad that I had such a great morning as the afternoon was not pleasant. Had an appointment with my retinal specialist and had to report that I saw a huge dark gray/black spot in my left eye. I knew I was heading for another injection. You'd think that after having so many injections that I would get used to it. Have to go back in 1 month for an Fluorescein angiography, that is where they inject a dye in my vein then take very rapid, very bright photos of my retina. To tell you the truth the photos are more uncomfortable than the injections. Well, we must do what we must do.

I didn't complete all my little tasks that I had made for myself on Tuesday. What I have left to do from that list is to make a shopping list. I just hate grocery shopping and that's probably why I have done it yet, procrastination will not get me anywhere emoticon.

Here is my plan for Saturday:
1. Take that dreaded shopping list
2. Walk to the grocery store
3. Pick up a weeks worth of groceries
4. Walk back home
5. Collapse emoticon

Hang on folks...another first

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

What???? Another walk 2nd day in a row??? What is the world to think? Are the 'E' gods out to get me? AND, I SURVIVED emoticon I have been pinching myself to make sure that I'm alive and I must be as it hurts emoticon I posted my video of yesterdays walk on FB just to give a declaration of my commitment. Received some supportive feedback from family and friends. Will post today's video as well.

My plan for the day is:
1. Recoup from the walk emoticon
2. Work on my weekly meal plan and make that shopping list emoticon
3. Catch up on some reading emoticon

See ya all tomorrow
