It's a TEAM challenge

Again I'm doing a 5% challenge. This is a wonderful way to join with others in this "Getting Healthier" journey. In previous challenges, I didn't look at being part of a team as much as I thought of being on my own journey.
In this challenge I'm looking at the team aspect of it. If I don't exercise each day, then I can't give my team those miles to help us reach our destination. If I don't drink the water each day I can't give the team those water points.

For me it seems to be making a difference in my outlook and motivation. Now if I don't exercise daily, I'm letting myself down but I'm also letting the team down. Maybe I'm more of a team player than I thought.


Now I'm looking forward to the rest of this challenge and I hope my different outlook will help the team but also help me.

What will the next 8 weeks show? We shall see!!!

No Negatives

Don't talk to yourself in negative terms.
Would you tell your friend who is struggling to build consistency in exercise "You'll never do it." Or would you say to your neighbour "You don't stick to anything you start."
No?

Then why say it to yourself.

Today use phrases that will help and not hurt. Be positive and not negative.

Words to say to yourself....

You've been adding those fitness minutes to your routine. Good for you."

"You've gone three days now with out going over your calorie count."

Just as you would for your best friend,
find words to encourage and not discourage;
build up and not tear down;
cause a smile and not a frown;
foster a sense of accomplishment and not a sense of defeat.


Okay, self, now don't you feel better? Are you going to buckle down and try to keep the momentum going?

My X's are moving............. Whoopee!!!

I discovered some fascinating, awesome facts this week as I was going through my closet looking for clothes that would stay up. emoticon I looked and tried and pondered and wondered then I smiled, emoticon laughed emoticon and then did an improvised jig. emoticon

I noticed that my X's have moved....
emoticon All my x's live in ?????? emoticon emoticon emoticon

I no longer have any clothes with a 3x marked on them. Could not find one sweater, pair of pants or skirt with a 3X on them. Gone. They got way too big last year. emoticon

I pinched myself to see if I was really in the real world after I went through my closet again and I couldn't find any labels marked 2X. where oh where have the 2X gone???? emoticon


At this point I was absolutely sure I had died and gone to heaven but then I reckoned if I had I should see a white robe or two in the closet but no, none there.

The third survey of clothes labels and tags showed me I only have a few items left with 1x on them but even more eXciting is the new position of the X on the garment. Many of my clothes now have the X in this position "XL" I haven't seen them placed like that for nearly 20 years.


So yes it's working, the Spark People program. Yes, I'm working... working out that is.

Yes, my X's are moving.... OUT.... OF.....MY..... CLOSET.

Yipee, Whoopee, Hurrarah, whatever.... emoticon emoticon emoticon X's

Fall 5% challenge

Recently I was invited to this 5% fall challenge team. emoticon Great, I thought. I'm up for a challenge.
I have been slipping behind on my committment lately. I have put 5 lbs back on that I thought I had permanently lost somewhere in the woods. emoticon But I didn't stay away far enough or maybe long enough to stop those pesky 5 pounds from creeping up my legs to attach to my middle again.

So when this invitation came I said emoticon

Little did I realize how this challenge would be set up as I had never did one before.

Detailed and daily are the pre challenge orders and now I'm starting to realize this challenge is only for those seriously intending to lose 5% of their body weight. emoticon

So am I ready? Not at this moment but by the official start date of October 12 I will be ready.

My gym shoes will be out emoticon


the fridge will be stocked emoticon emoticon


the measurements taken emoticon emoticon

the scale stepped on.......... emoticon

I'm Sparked Again

Todays challenge in Spark Coach was to look back and see how far I've come.
I did and now I'm smiling from ear to ear..... emoticon

16 months ago when I joined SP I could not get down on the floor to do any of the mat exercises. Maybe I could get down but I knew I could not get up again. So I didn't ( get down or up) emoticon

Today I was on the floor for 30 minutes - Nope, I didn't fall and Nope I wasn't just lying around.

I was actually doing floor exercises like leg lifts, leg curls, and a move we called modified sit ups way back in high school but now are called triple toners, - with a new name like that I hope it burns three times the calories. emoticon

The sweat was dripping by the time I was done and I can feel every inch of muscle - Whoa - now where did they come from? - emoticon

Then like the obedient student of physical education that I am emoticon I did about 5 minutes of stretches. I stretched so far I almost did a half body split emoticon

Now looking at the time I see it is only 11:05am so I have time to rack up another 6000 steps on my zip, and tonight is BOWLING................ emoticon and again emoticon

How good can a day get?

Yes I have come a long way. The journey has not been easy and it certainly had its fair share of roadblocks and detours but what a journey it has been.

Diets - Bah!!! Humbug!!!!

    I do my floor exercises on the bed. Not because I can't get up from the floor, but because my dogs would be way too "helpful." On the bed, I still have helper kitties, but they don't interfere as much. emoticon
