It's a dark and gloomy day but I've found the Mediterranean Way! It's a newish team here that professes eating similar to the sonoma Diet which I was successful on a few years back. I hope this works and I intend to attempt to make it work! Notice I said attempt!
Why do fat or overweight people lose weight only to gain it back and then some? If I could answer that question, I could be a millionaire!

This morning I read the Best of Spark People Daily, March 30, where a woman had lost considerable weight and it was very motivating. When I went to her page, she had gained some back due to the birth of twins but was trying again to lose. I believe she will and hope she will be motivated to return in earnest. After all, I am still here having stuck it out!

Anyway, When you are going to diet, you need to pick a way to lose that you can live with. I've learned these things.
1. I hate tracking my food.
2. I hate counting points.
3. I think rules are meant to be broken.

When I think about those 3 things, I should not be on a diet that attempts to make me follow the rules like writing it down everyday. With the Sonoma Diet, I didn't have to do that. I learned what foods to eat more of and how to segment them on the plate. I learned about portions and how to cook in a healthy fashion and I liked the food! So why did I quit? I was successful, having lost 18 lbs. I quit because it was taking too long and I thought I could do it myself. If there is one thing I need to learn it is to stick to it!!!!!!!!!! Stick it out!!!! Have a binge but then go right back to it. I am back to say I want to do this and I will give it another go!

Have a nice day! It is raining and thundering and the dog is hiding behind the toilet. Good day for sewing and napping! Later.

I have to say that I've lost weight and am much more healthier today, at 60, just by changing to a healthier lifestyle and committing to it. I don't believe in any diet because a quick and easy way (supposedly) can result in gaining it all back. it doesn't teach you a healthy lifestyle. The key word is commit....ok, two more words...for life. Stay with it.

That sounds like excellent planning, to my mind. I've long said that the only way I 'learned' to lose weight and become healthier was by experimenting. Once I did some trials, and found out what did - and what didn't - work for me, I was on my way. I think that's true for each of us, because while some things (Weight Watchers, for example) work for some people (my daughter and her partner are having great success with it), some people need a totally different method.

As for being patient and continuing to do what you need to do - no easy answer to that one, I'm afraid--! lol...

Mrs Dash's Baked Chicken

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

Last night I had two chicken breast thawed and found a recipe in Tasting Home Magazine using Mrs. Dash

2 skinless bonelesll chickn breasts
1 sliced onion
2 cloves chopped garlic
Mrs Dash Extra Spicy or original
Lemon Pepper
olive oil

Place onion and garlic in baking pan. Brush breasts with olive oil. Sprinkle with Mrs Dash original or I had a combo of extra spicy mixed with lemon pepper seasoning which has a little salt in it.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 min to an hour depending on how thick the breasts are.

When done, the chicken juices combined with the onion and garlic and seasoning creating a sauce resembling French Onion Soup! It was delicious spooned over the chicken. I could only eat half a breast and spinach and 1/2 flat bread. Applesauce went well with it.

I saw that recipe, and wondered how good it was. Thanks for writing about it. I am always looking forward to finding easy, simple and tasty recipes. I agree and you should post it on the recipe list.

Can't get Mrs Dash's here, so I make up my own version, but I'm all for no-salt dishes in general - sometimes I think I'm allergic to salt, lol... LOVE how easy this one is! And I agree with CINDYRINAL that you should post it to SparkRecipes.

Sounds great. I used Ms. Dash's seasonings all the time. You should publish this on the recipe list?

Photos ADDED today!

Monday, March 28, 2011

People have been asking me to post my projects so I have added a few to my page. I also have this year's azalea picture on the front! So beautiful. Guess pruning and all that rain helped.
We went commissary shopping yesterday and I now have food to eat. They had skinless chicken breast on sale and I got 11 large breasts for $8.32. I don't know why we don't go there more often. It's because we buy more ($208) and it takes more times (2 hours) At least our larders are stocked now with healthy products for me to eat. I separated and froze the chicken breasts into portions for easy access. I have discovered you can put a frozen breast into the crockpot and 4-5 hours later it is cooked and tender!

That was a small quilt I made at the guild retreat, log cabins and houses.

Quilted purse I made this week! I used fabrics from the log cabin quilt top. I've discovered that even though you spend a lot of money on kits and projects, you have left overs for your stash enough to make something else! I ordered a little town kit for my grandson's quilt and an extra panel to make another quilt for my other grandson. So I'll get two quilts from that one for 2 grandsons!

Bargello Challenge Quilt in process. You can see the paint colors and fabrics I selected on my photo page. At guild we had to pull a paint sample out of a bag and go with it. Not due to November but I have loved learning how to make a bargello quilt as you go! Later
I hope the pics above are the right ones. Later!

Hubby just left to go to barbershop singing practice and so I am left to do what I want to do which is quilt and sew! My friend Pat gave me a $35 gift card from Joann Fabric's for my birthday and yesterday, I got a card in the mail from Joann's with a 25% off my purchase, both sale and regular items! Whoo Hoo, I'll be at Joann's with a long list. Time to stock up on supplies and there is already a lot on sale!
This week I sewed and finished a quilted purse and I'm going to take pics as soon as I can and post them. It's a little effort for me to do that. I forget the process in between. I'm going to put a frozen chicken breast in the crockpot so that it will possibly be ready to eat for lunch so I don't have to stop and think about that.
We desperately need to go food shopping but I'm putting that off until tomorrow after church when we can go to the military commissary and actually stock up on what we need. Haven't been in a while.
So I'll check in later and show you my progress!

Wow, what great timing for the gift certificate to Joann's! I used to love to shop there - I think I was their best customer for the remnants, lol... No place like that here. Which might be a good thing, in some ways, as I tend to (ahem) get carried away--!

Well, I decided to get on the scale this morning. I've avoided it for months but since I have cut down on my eating snacks and beer, I've lost 2 or 3 pounds. See, it can happen. On the beer, we are going out tonight and I told my husband I am tired of not being able to have a beer and let's replace the beer with giving up something else for lent. He agreed so I will have a beer tonightt. We get 2 free drinks so I will nurse my beer and enjoy it and then maybe switch to diet coke. They are having pizza and cake as well. And tomorrow is party all day long with four scheduled.

yesterday I attended a facebook class at the chamber and learned a lot. There is a lot more to learn but there is so much on there that you can do. I have a busy day ahead. Later.

Your efforts to lose weight is slowly paying off. It can be done. I am losing oh so slowly too but even a few pounds feels good.

Enjoy your night out and may those two beers be guilt free!

I once coached a guy that drank his beer and requested he give it up for good and replace it with something else. He knew it was a trigger to eat more and drink more. He has lost 56lbs and still losing :) just saying....

Having a beer that you enjoy is esential. If you feel deprived, you have less of a chance of success
