I have been so busy just trying to tie up lose ends for my clients, make deliveries, install those last window treatments. Thankfully I have most of my shopping done but nothing wrapped. I have 2 quilts I want to finish, one is the Underground Railroad quilt for my friend Pat and the other is for my granddaughter. I will definitely get Pat's done but Hannah might have to wait.
We will go to my sons' home Christmas morning to open gifts, see the kids, have breakfast. But dinner we will come home to our house and it is only me, hubby and mom-in-law this year. Seems like we would have dinner with our son but I never want to interfere and we have breakfast. Maybe I'll ask them if they want to come to our house in the afternoon. They might just say yes. I need to plan something and go to the grocery store in and amongst the quilting projects.
Today I have one last party at lunch, then off to a clients to deliver some lamps, off to another to install draperies, back to my house to get my own blinds installed and I still have a couple left to do that I'll hand over to the installer.
Last night was a nightmare installation. Took 2.5 hours and I couldn't wait to get out of there. So stressed we went to TGI Fridays where I ate fried green beans and we shared chicken fingers, french fries, and cheesecake on the $12.99 special plus a beer of course. I was wilted.
I want my clients to have their things for Christmas so there is always the Christmas crunch trying to get it all done. I sat this morning and wrote and paid bills. NOw I feel like a nap but I'm got to get ready for the luncheon. I guess you could say I am not exactly a 62 year old couch potato. I knew this week would be busy. And next week, too. Just finishing up the year. Glad to get 2010 done and hope that 2011 is better for everyone and our economy picks up!
Have a Merry Christmas!

We are so fortunate to live where we live, in Northwest Florida. We have the most beautiful beaches in the world, the most beautiful sunets, the most beautiful weather and the most loving and caring people! Hubby took some pictures on his camera phone but once again, I am brain dead in uploading them. HOwever, I will figure it out and get them on here. We stayed 2 nights in Panama City Beach, Florida at a Wyndham TImeshare and it was wonderful. No traffic. It was cold but bearable and we shopped, went to a movie and had dinner at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville where hubby took a magnificent photo of the sunset!
What diet was I supposed to be on? Thrown out the window but I will return!

Mini-vacation weekend

Saturday, December 18, 2010

Hubby and I own a time share and we had some points left to use so we are driving to Panama City, Fl today to spend 2 nights in a condo there. We did the same thing last year over new years and had a wonderful time shopping and trying out restaurants we hadn't been to. So we are off today. We'll do some last minute Christmas shopping as well. It is only a little over an hour drive for us but a place we seldom visit.

We are having dinner tonight with his former Air Force roommate in the early 1970's. We met at Tyndall AFB base which is there and had not seen this guy forever. Had lunch with he and his wife a few months back so we are going out for dinner and then to a Toys for Tots fundraiser. So another party. We won't know a soul, unlike the parties we attend here where we know everyone.

I kind of gave up counting points or dieting this week but I didn't do too badly. However last night, I guess I ate too many rich foods as I was up all night with acid reflux. Have to learn that lesson continuely. I'm hoping I can seriously get back to WW after Christmas.

I had made some cooked carrots last night and brought some of them home. Rather than see them go to waste, I experimented with carrot raisin pecan muffins. I used the recipe for Pumpkin Oat Bran Muffins by DANILION219 here on Spark and substituted mashed and pureed carrots for the pumpkin and used allspice instead of pumpkin pie spice and whole eggs. Also added raisins and pecans and they turned out very good, moist. I served them with butter but you wouldn't have to.
I'll check in this weekend but don't know if I'll blog or not.

Well, tonight is the last Christmas party I have to attend where there is gobs of food. This week, I didn't even attempt to be on any kind of a diet. Missed WW and tomorrow we are going away for 2 nights. Just because. A whole week left before Christmas. I had wanted to finish a quilt for my granddaughter but haven't touched it all week. THere is still time and I bet I could do it, just have to get to it. I could take my sewing machine with me tomorrow but that seems like work so I don't know. I just have to finish the top and put it together and machine quilt. Not that much.
Maybe I'll stay up all night Christmas eve sewing.
Hubby is talking about retirement again. I'm not ready for that! I'd like 2 more years but I don't know. He was pretty fed up yesterday. And he loves his job so we'll see.
Later. I'll try and sew a bit today! Not much going on in the work arena but have to make some deliveries.

I enjoy reading about your life. Mine is so dull. Happy Christmas.
Retirement gets boring after awhile, but you'd sure have time to sew quilts all day.

I started out the day relativity happy but hubby was on a rampage about something that happened at work and I got to hear about it. Pullleease. Give me a break. Starting out the day that way just gets me irritated. Now I'm gloomy about my own day coming up. BUT, I scheduled an 11:00 massage and that should fix things. I am so in need of a massage.
It's past the due date.
And I'm seeing a nice client this afternoon so that should perk me up.
Half way through the parties this week and haven't done so badly. One of the things I've noticed is that I have had complete access to klondike bars, fruitcake, pumpkin tarts, lemon tarts and peanut butter cookies. Instead of scoffing down one of each, I avoided all of it last night. Didn't even want any except I did sneak a bit of fruitcake. After all you only get fruitcake once a year. But last year, I would have stuffed myself with one of each. I had a lemon tart for bkfast yesterday and it wasn't all that good. So I assumed the pumpkin would not be either. So left it alone.
I didn't get to WW on Tuesday. Was on the way but I had to meet a client and by the time I got through the drivethrough at the bank, it was too late so I just went home and caught up before I went to see the client.
It doesn't seem Christmasy this year for some reason. It seems a long way off still. Got all my shopping done or most of it so happy with that. We just didn't plan to spend so much this year and we've kept to the bargain. Or at least I had.
Or local Salvation Army has what is called "The Empty Stocking Fund" sponsored by the local newspaper and they publish donations made daily. This money is used not only for Christmas but to fund the Army throughout the year for needy people. And there are plenty of those right now. Well, they were running short of their goal of $'s needed. Yesterday someone made an $84,000 anonymous donation which put them over the edge. What a blessing that was. And they still continue to collect funds through Christmas. There is a Santa Claus. Later.

WOW! Love it that somebody had $84,000 to give, and especially to The Salvation Army - it's one of my favorite charities! Re the massage... oohh, I could use one o'them my own self. Enjoy, kiddo! :-D

I am glad you are getting a massage. that will settle you down. Take care of yourself, this is a stressful time of year. Be kind to yourself you need to put you number 1. Sometimes we are sounding boards for others, try not to internalize it, it really is not your problem. Have a wonderful day my friend.

Yes there is a Santa Claus...many years ago I was the single mother of two and working 2 jobs(one full time,1 part time) just to pay the rent. A week before Christmas my co workers told me instead of doing the regular secret santa we were all bringing an unwrapped toy to be donated. I really couldn't afford it but it made me sad to think that there were others even less fortunate than myself. I bought a toy and went to the party. You cannot imagine my surprise when all the toys the others bought were for MY children!! I cried then and I am crying now just thinking about it. My children are grown now and we always remember that Christmas as we deliver toys to as many agencies as we can each holiday season.
