LEARN TO BE CALM AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE HAPPY!

I weighed this morning and down a couple pounds. Just goes to show that if you just return to sensible eating, you can maintain and even lose a bit. I've worked so hard to get that 8 lbs off, I want it to stay off. Tomorrow I have it on my schedule to go to WW but my schedule changes often depending on the needs of my clients. I think I'll be okay though. Looking forward to it and also looking forward to the new program at the end of the month. Something new to learn is always good.

Was cruisng the internet this a.m. and was on Amazon and saw a book by Marianne Williamson entitled something like 21 Spriritual ways to lose weight. Tried to order it but got bogged down and didn't have to time to sit there and sort it out. I'll probably go back and get it as I like to read motivational and self-help books. I like to have a connection to something in my own personal experience and it has helped me over the years to overcome a lot of things. Trouble is, once I've read it and digested it and worked the program, I need something new again. I'm sure I probably already know most of the 21 Spiritual Ways but I like to be reminded of things like that especially spiritual ones. My way of keeping up my faith is to tap into God things.

There is a new doctor in town that does TIF noninvasive surgery for acid reflux. I take Prilosec and had expeirenced acid reflux over the years but the prilosec isn't keeping some of the silent symptoms down. His brochure from the hospital lists about 12 different symptoms of acid reflex, many that you wouldn't think were symptoms. Like constantly swallowing and clearing my throat, coughing, asthma like symptoms. Sometimes I feel I am drowning in fluid in my esophagus, a lump in my throat that doesn't go away. I also think acid reflux symptoms are disguised as hunger signs. Last night I got a bag of healthy chips to eat simply to try and move the lump in my throat back to the stomach. Sounds awful doesn't it. But I've analyzed the situation and I am going to make an appmt with this doc to see if I am a candidate for this procedure.


Got to go. My son called and his wife was in the New York Marathon this weekend. They were getting ready to leave this morning and his car was broken into last night. Glass broken so this puts a damper on getting out of New York this morning. Later.

LEARN TO BE CALM AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE HAPPY!

Well, yesterday I decided to return to WW meetings and went to the 9:00 a.m. scheduled meeting at the WW location. No one there and door locked. Another lady was waiting also. The sign on the door said open at 8:30 on Saturday so I guess they didn't make the change online yet. I did find out though that they are open on Fridays from 8:30 to 3:30 FOR WEIGH IN but no class so that would be good for me to swing by there. Also found out they are starting a new program launch on Nov 29. I barely know the one with the points as it is now so maybe this will be good for me to learn a new one. Also, from today through Dec 31 the cost is $100 to join for all that time. I did that last year and flunked but this year would be a good thing for me if I get serious.

I also attended the Chamber Health Fair and found a Zumba class for oldies on Tues and Thus that is near me and I know the instructor. She's lost 80 lbs this year and is also a massage therapist. She gave me a mini massage and exclaimed that I really need to come and see her. I knew that anyway. Threw myself out while draggin an 8 by 10 area rug through the house, out the front door, sidewalk to driveway and helped a client load it into her car. Shouldn't be doing that but no one else around at the time.

Going major grocery shopping today to military commissary. There is nothing in the house and we always go there when we have a big order because it is cheaper. Expect to spend quite a bit and load up on veggies. Donna asked for the Sweet Potato and Apple Kugel recipe yesterday. It is in the recipe section here on Spark under that name.

My dining room table came back yesterday and it looks better than new. I vow to NOT put anything on it except a table runner and centerpiece. No junk and stuff! And I'm getting a table pad for it.

    I hope you continue your efforts to join Weight Watchers. I think you will find additional resources and support that fit well with Spark People resources and support. Definitely good timing to join now with the new program being unveiled soon. Try it, you'll like it!

I'M STARTING MY QUEST TO RETURN!

Okay, Okay. I got on the scale this morning and I am up 4 pounds. Now considering I have only lost 8 pounds in a whole year, that is huge. So I am starting my quest to return to a sensible plan. Oh, how difficult. Sigh. I just printed off a recipe for Sweet Potato and Apple Kugel, sounds Delicious! I'm even contemplating on going to a WW meeting this morning. To do that I have to cut this short and get dressed. I'll check in later.

    Consistancy is a key concept in Spark.

You are consistant in your reflections and blog posts.
They are an inspiration for me, in my struggle to gain a healthier lifestyle - I don't have to be perfect, just keep trying to improve.

I can see my own problems in yours.

Another team has a thread on surviving the holidays - load the plate with veggies, and only a taste of the "fat foods" - a full plate and no deprivation - the eating out life you enjoy is a challenge, but you CAN be in control, if you pay attention.

The knowledge and control you put into your business can be an asset to your eating habits - lets get on the program!

I am struggling with myself, just as you are, and your struggles are mine, in a different area.

I'm working on "new rules" for my behaviors - doing things differently, to enhance my dreams and goals. Try it.

BABYSITTING TODAY! DAY 293

LEARN TO BE CALM AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE HAPPY!

I am babysitting today for my 1 year old grandson who had surgery last week to correct a birth defect. He is very good and seems to be okay with it so far. Right now he is watching baby cartoons while I use their laptop. It's rainy today so won't get out. I hope he takes a nap later as I would too! It might be a long day but I have an afghan I'm crocheting and books.

Last night I worked on my current quilt, the underground railroad quilt which is based on quilt codes used to guide the slaves when they escaped. There is some debate as to whether it is true or not but I've had fun making it for my friend Pat.

The diet is kaput. I'm sorry I succumbed to candy on halloween but not that bad. Haveing trouble returning to any sort of system. Too much going on. I have 2 funerals to attend tomorrow and saturday. Bummer. And they've asked me to bring food on Friday to that funeral. A lot of deaths this year. I keep thinking I am going back to WW in person but haven't so far. Here it is Nov and TG around the corner and Christmas after that. SLOW DOWN TIME! Goes too fast. I'm still working on emptying boxes in the house anid getting window tmts. Later.

    Why is it that Halloween seems to be the start of a spiraling downfall for so many of us...with Thanksgiving and Christmas and all the stuff in between...we need to embrace our family and friends at these times and not food...you can stay on the program...life is always going to get in the way so give it a good kick in the behind and stay healthy!
