The good news is that I weighed this morning and I am still at 180. Been there for months except one brief couple of days I hit 179 so I know it is possible. I am happy to still be at 180 because that means I have not gained back the 8 lbs I lost this year. I am maintaining in spite of a wedding and eating occasions and going out and not cooking due to renovations, etc. I have to regroup myself and decide how to proceed. I am leaning toward actually joining WW and going to meetings but I have to be ready to commit and with the rest of this month's activities, it may not be a good time. Maybe after I see my son and his wife who are avid WW's this weekend, I will be ready. They will be good motivators.

I did walk this morning with my friend Pat and that is good. And yesterday I walked the dog so at least I am moving about. I am loving my new quilting hobby and have finished 6 blocks on my latest quilt project. Thursday night, I am going to attend the Silver Threads Quilt Group meeting. Can't wait to take my blocks for show and tell. Am I crazy or what? Later.

It sounds like you are excited about your new hobby !
Good for you !
It looks like quite a few of us are "stuck at the same weight !
BUGGYS has suggested upping the exercise a bit.
I think that is a very good idea !
Also, I think it important to be careful about food and water intake,
and the amount of sleep we get !

First of all I want to thank all of my sparkbuddies for giving me encouragement. I've gotten goodies and notes from many of you and as a result, just for today, I am going to be a Weight Watcher. I'm going to log my points, take the dog for a walk and try to get in 5 fruits and veggies. Then tomorrow, I'm going to do it again. Today I will make the effort.

I want to tell you about the beautiful weekend I had. Friday night we drove in our T-bird with the top down about a 45 min drive to a restaurant and shopping. The weather is absolutely beautiful here in NW Florida, the time of year we covet. We went to Talbots to shop and I tried on some pants. The 14's were a little snug and the 16's were too big. When you can pull on the waist and everything moves, you know they are a little too big and any weight loss or stretching will make then baggy. So I left with nothing.

Saturday morning we had a wedding to attend. Our friends, both in their 60's were getting married. Within the last 2 years, they had both lost spouses to cancer and they gravitated toward each other, fell in love and tied the knot. It was so beautiful. The church was absolutely packed with people, like a sunday service, as these 2 have many many friends in our community. On the alter were 2 roses to acknowledge the presence of their spouses watching over them. Just lovely. Later on, they had a celebration reception at their town home community. Their town home is on the water, the weather was lovely and it was in and out, seeing and greeting so many of our friends there. And Saturday was football day. The groom is a big Florida State University fan and the wedding colors were garnet and gold. At the reception we were told to dress casually and in garnet and gold so I was there in my FSU colors. Later on that night FSU whipped Miami 45 to 17. What a game!

Sunday was church and a day of sewing. I am so into quilting now and I love it. I have set up my sewing room with a high table where I stand and cut out my fabrics. I have a work triangle of cut, sew and press. So far, I've made 4 1/2 blocks for my underground railroad quilt. I make mistakes and I have to tear out and sew again sometimes. Yesterday, I was working on a Bears Paw square and I didn't read the directions and I ended up with my right bear's toes all broken going in the wrong direction. Have to tear that out now. But I don't mind.

Sunday evening, the barbershop chorus of which my husband was a member, gave a free concert for my church in the new Christian Life Center. All proceeds raised were donated back to the church for the purchase of stage lighting. What a gift! The concert was fabulous! My hubby was the MC and he did a fabulous job!

And this morning I got a goodie from Prairiecrocus and a challenge to get on with the weight loss, thus my pledge today to be a weight watcher! This weekend we travel to Jekyll Island Georgia for another wedding, this one a big fancy one and we will see lots of old friends there as well. My youngest son, his wife and grandson are in the wedding so we will see them as well. And on Saturday afternoon, Florida State plays Boston College so we'll be watching prior to the evening wedding! Looking forward to it! Later. P.S. I wore a pretty blouse and white skirt to the wedding on Saturday. Last Christmas, the blouse was snug at the waist and the skirt too tight. This year I had ample room in the blouse and the skirt fit nicely. I guess something is good.

Sounds like a wonderful weekend. You have inspired me to get back of the weight band wagon.

I haven't gained, but haven't lost either.

I've totally lost interest in being on a diet and I'm trying to regain control. At least I am trying to think about it. Actually, this morning I weighed in at 180 still so even though nary a piece of fruit has passed my lips and precious few veggies, I am still maintaining. I'm not overeating, just not eating to lose. I've had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches the last couple of days for lunch. At least on whole wheat bread. This morning hubby made me half a bagel slathered in jelly. and I had a tub of applesauce. I would have eaten the bagel without the jelly but oh, well. It was there.
What to do. What to do. At least I am trying to decide. My interests this last month have been in the remodel and quilting. I've still got lots of sorting to do but I'm not inspired by it. Get off your duff and DO SOMETHING! 20 lbs. THat's all, just 20 lbs. Can't I do that, lose 20 lbs? Right now, I just want to not put back on the 8 lbs I've lost.
And quilting is really in the way. It's becoming an obsession and I'm not sure I want it to be. I'll be buying stacks of fabric and quilt kits and never getting to it. So I have to be careful there. I'm working on an FSU quilt and I'm not loving it so I think I will set it aside for a while. Didn't have a pattern and kind of making it up so that is a challenge. I think I need a rest from it. And I really have paperwork to do for my real job so all this dalllying around in other stuff needs to get set aside.

1. I know I don't want to regain the weight I've lost.
2. I would like to go back to healthier eating, like fruits and veggies which have been absent from my diet recently.
3. My son has lost 30 lbs on WW. I'm so proud of him.
4. Can I go back to WW meetings and keep it up? There isn't any point if I won't keep it up and stick to it.
5. Do you think that if I stuck to it for 1 week that I would lose a few pounds? Really stuck to it?
6. Would I stick to it seeing as how I have a wedding to go to tomorrow with large reception and football game in the afternoon tomorrow and out of town really big wedding and celebration next weekend in Jekyll Island, Ga. Not likely.

What to do. Later.

You are the same weight that I am !
Even though we have lost some weight, to get to the 180 pound mark,
we are both still over-weight ! We are hauling around extra pounds, that
are no good for our bodies. We should both take our situations very seriously !
Getting down to 180 pounds is not enough ! For the sake of our own health,
let us be strong in saying "N0, thanks !" to every treat that comes our way !
We can do it ! Let us both embrace every fresh fruit and vegetable, as a good
part of our sustenance ! Frozen and canned fruits and vegetables can be
substituted, of course. But, we both have to do our best we can, with the
nutrition, as well as the exercise, portion of our SparkPeople plan !
Always remember to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, for proper hydration.
Let's lose weight again - one pound at a time !

You can do this! Keep telling yourself that. Like everything else in life, good things will come but they do take a little work and positive thinking.
When I get to feeling down, I try to make time to take a walk. Walking helps me think and usually gets my priorities back in line.
I have complete confidence that you can keep the pounds off and you can lose more. You have your goals in mind and I know you can reach them.

It sounds like you have the blahs. Not happy about quilt, dieting and life. Its a transition. This is life and sometimes you just have to plow through it. My suggestion is that you write down your thoughts, this is not a diet, but a lifestyle change this needs to be incorporated into your life not a separate thing. It was sweet of your husband to slather on the jelly, but there surely was a knife and you could have scraped the excess back into the jar or into the garbage. You need to analize what you really want to do.But before I quit I would give yourself one good last try and not a half done try.

You need that AhHa moment where you ask yourself how bad do I want this. I can't believe how many excuses I was making to myself. I told myself I can't lose anymore because of my age, the stresses are to much, I just plain want to eat. Then the health scare showed me how much I do want it.

It's an everyday struggle. I still have to write portions down, or I eat more than I should. I have to make myself get out and exercise. It's a life choice. Either I want to be thiner and healthy, or I don't. It's up to me.

So I think you have asked yourself the tough questions. What are your answers to them. How bad do you want it?

No it's not my leg or any humans. During our renovation, we had moved our dining room table away from the door while the new one was being put in. Last night, as I was walking past it I decided to push it back. We have a 2 pedestal table. One of the legs got caught on the tile and completely broke off. And that side of the table fell off onto the floor! Just what I needed. I've been thinking about getting another one but not just yet. Now I have the dilemna of having it repaired or throwing it out. Actually, it is a mahogany Georgian table that we purchased while we lived in England in the 70's. So it was custom made and beautilful. However, it has really taken a beating from my kids doing their homework, a spilled water glass that took off the finish, and me cutting fabric on it and creating marks all over it. I think we paid $450 or pounds for it, not sure which but it certainly doesn't owe us any money. I guess I can stop thinking about drapery fabrics for now as the table takes precedent.

Today I have a visit from my regional director. I hope she is coming to see me and not the house. EVeryday we do a little bit more. Move a pile from here, throw it out or put it away somewhere. Hope I can find it when I need it. I have found myself getting rid of plenty of knickknacks. Stuff you collect over the years. Stuff you don't need. HOpe no body gives me any knick knacks for christmas. I need a new nightie instead.

If the table was custom made for you it would be worth having an expert look at it and get it repaired and refinished. We are using the table my husband's grandparents had in the early 1900's and love it.

Make out a Xmas list for everyone and give it to them. Make this a new tradition, so people give you want you want not what they think you need.

Sorry to hear about your table, but everything has a time span and the memories are in your mind not the table. I tend to throw out and not keep, so my advice, toss it.

I'm glad it is not your leg broken. Myself, I would vote for repair of the table. It sounds like a great table that could not be replaced, but getting a new one would be nice also. Anyway you look at it I think it was time to do something about the table.

That table sounds wonderful. For me, the decision would be based on what will cost more, the repair or a new table. Good luck!
