SO MUCH TO DO! Day 273

Saturday, September 18, 2010

I have so much to do in this house! We got our new electronic garage door and now I need to clean out the garage. We tore down our sheds and found them full of termites. Hopefully they didn't make it to the house yet. Our house is brick. We threw a lot of stuff away from the shed filling up 2 dumpsters but now I need to figure out what to do with the rest of the stuff. I have boxes of drapery hardware that needs to be sorted. I have wall to wall shelves in our garage full of fabric books and samples and they are all dirty from construction dust. So it is clean and throw out day. Just don't know how far I can go with that. I have to deliver a chair today so that will take up time and knowing me, when I get home, it will be too hot or I'll be tired. But it has to get done. So I'll see you later!

I thought my day of walking around at the fair was exhausting, but compared to your day my day was easy!
whew, good luck on all that tossing. I wouldn't be able to throw anything away.

This time of year the garden is bursting with ripe vegetables that need to be taken care of immediately. So much to do and so little time!

I am so excited about my new driveway and courtyard and anxious to see the finished interior projects with new windows and doors! I am also excited about quilting again! I have always loved quilts but just didn't have time to do them in the last 26 years of running a successfuly business. Now I am taking time for me and getting back into a hobby I love.
I have quilte a collection of hardcover books on quilting and I've been dragging them out and reading over them. Over and Over. My hubby must think I've gone crazy. I have to stop going to the fabric store as it is getting expensive. However, they keep telling me that once i finish buying all my supplies, it won't be that bad. I don't believe them.
Now when I have discontinued fabric books, I'm going to look them over before giving them away. I'll definitely keep the ones that would make good squares.

I'm also doing good on eating this week so far. Didn't track yesterday but I'm pretty sure I did well with it. I'll go back today and fill in the blanks. There is not much to eat in the house. One apple and some frozen fruit. I have rediscovered applesauce and the tubs with cinnamon sprinkled on them are a delicious snack. Haven't had a klondike bar all week.
I've got to get moving and get dressed before the contractors arrive. Later!

I love quilting. You can never have too much fabric or too many quilting tools! I have a room full of fabric that supports that!

make sure you have healthy foods in the house. You don't want to derail yourself with junk food. I am anxious to see the finished product. Post pix as you go through your remodel, as you did your courtyard. It was beautiful. Also let us see the quilt as you begin it, do it and finish it.

I am so happy and excited about my new courtyard! The addition of the new pavers really turns this eye sore into a pleasant outdoor room. The color of the pavers coordinates well with my interior. I have a red sofa and Mexican Talavera Tile backsplash in my kitchen. I am extremely excited that I figured out how to upload a photo! Finally. Hope I don't forget! I'll be posting more pics of our renovation as we go along!

Now we need to get busy on the landscaping and I've already orderd some updated cabinet handles for the kitchen and tile for my fireplace surround!!

Okay, last week I gave myself permission to eat and this week I'm getting back on the WW wagon. The challenge goal for this week is to get back on the scale and make friends with it. I am always amazed when I weigh after I feel like I've binged or eaten poorly, only to find I didn't really gain weight after all. How does that work? I guess if you eat sensibly and in moderation and return to healthy habits, you will maintain.

WW says today that you should FOCUS on recent successes. Yesterday, I left the Klondike bars in the freezer for hubby to eat! That was a real milestone for me. I believe that I should learn to resist those treats. Afterall, I know I can have one but if I choose not to, then I have succeeded. Throwing it out of the house is not something I want to do. There are those who have to do this but I want to learn to have it around and choose not to eat it.

There is a weight loss doctor here in town that several of my friends have gone to. One friend lost a lot of weight last year but I saw her recently and she has put a lot back on. He recommends pills and shots to curb your appetitie. I avoid something like that because when you take medications, it can counteract them. I've had 3 other friends do the same with him. One has put on some weight, one gave up and the other got so thin, she looked unhealthy. I wonder if they will keep it off.

Yesterday, the pavers were installed in our front courtyard and they are so beautiful! I promise to take a pic when finished but I have such a learning curve with pics. It takes time. As I walked around the neighborhood with Pat this morning, I realized that there aren't a lot of homes with pavers. THis neighborhood started building in the 70's and I think we've outdone the neighbors in this area. Maybe it will inspire them to do the same. It really wasn't as expensive as I expected and our kitchen window overlooks the courtyard and we have a triple french door looking out onto it. We read our paper there every morning and have coffee and breakfast. WE have a white brick house and the pavers are tri-color rust, grey and cream. Our front door is red and it looks beautiful, just what we needed!

I've wanted to put tile around our fireplace for a long time. I mentioned this to hubby and he said no, he didn't want to do that. OK, I am the decorator here but I always try and include him and respect his opinion. And then I do what I want. Well, I went to the tile store and picked out a plain old tile and brought it home. I HATE IT! Now, with the pavers, we have to make it look nice so I am going to do what I wanted in the first place!!! To heck with him.

I need to get my day started. Good luck on what ever weight loss goal you have today!

I had read about some kind of 'hormone diet' that is apparently very popular. People were raving about how much weight they'd lost. Seems the calorie intake is something like 500-600 per day, max! Who wouldn't lose weight? They don't need expensive injections, they can just risk their health by starving. Eh, don't get me started, lol... LOVE the description of the pavers, and can't wait to see the pix. And I'm with you re the Klondike bars, or any other treat, for that matter: to learn new ways of living it's well worth practicing making healthy choices. IMHO! :-)

Slow and steady is the name of the game...most "diets" just don't work...changing one's lifestyle does!

I was watching Dr. Oz yesterday, and they were talking about those quick fix diets and how you just gain back. The one Dr. said that 1 pound a month is good. I was excited, since that is about what I lose these days.

Today was WW day. I got up, weighed myself, didn't lose from last week, so I went back to bed for an hour and a half, lol

I logged into my e-mail this morning and saw the message "Back on Track Challenge: 4 Weeks of Simple Changes"! How did they know I needed that? I have been totally remiss the last week helping myself to plenty of klondike bars and 100 calories cookie packs. Back to 180 but today I have already tracked my breakfast and fully intend to continue for the day and eat healthy! This last week I went to pot on eating. Can't say why, I just did. Now I am ready to get back and do what I'm supposed to do.

As soon as I finish this blog I need to get out in the garage and put some stuff away. We're getting a new garage door and I need to be prepared. I love this throwing out of stuff! So much fun. It's a continual process we need to keep up with or it gets out of hand. Ever watch those TV shows on hoarders? I've known some of them personally. A neighbor had a travel trailer sitting in his driveway and an old car. Both were filled to overflowing with junk and trash. Inside his house wasn't much better. His teenage daughters used to babysit for us and I don't know how they managed to live there. This was before there was a diagnosis of hoarding.

I'm getting off track. This week I am on the 4 week WW online challenge. And the start is to declare it! WHich I've done and to start tracking which I've done and to weigh in which I've done. No excuses! Going out to the garage now! Later.

You have spoken to my heart. I have been so long off track. I started a little yesterday, watching what I ate. Today, I'm back to tracking my food, tracking my exercise and getting a new ATTITUDE! Yeah!

Thanks for the inspiration. emoticon emoticon
