LEARN TO BE CALM AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE HAPPY!

Every month this year I have earned perfect attendance and 500 participation points. This morning I still need a little more than 100 points for participation and only 2 days left. So when the wheel was spinning around I kept saying 10 points, 10 points, and it stopped on 10 points! Wow, maybe I can get those 100 points! I wish they had points for quilting as I have rekindled my love of sewing and I have to credit Spark People Quilting groups for the motivation. I haven't sat down at a sewing machine for any length of time in years and now I am. My quilt is coming along and looking reallly cute. I need to figure out what I have done wrong to my computer and get some sort of program on here that will let me transfer pictures. I've screwed it up somehow so I guess I need to reload Kodak Easy Share or some other program.

I went to hubby's computer yesterday to load my celebrity pics but I don't want to keep doing that. My weight is still at 180 this morning. How many weeks now? 5 is it? I'm happy that I've arrived at that level and I'm wondering if it will ever move south again. At least it is not going up. I've not been realy strict with any diet but I'm plugging along. Maybe if I really tried this week, who knows.

Fall is shaping up to be a busy time of year for us. First FSU football game is on Saturday and we'll be driving over to Tallahassee. Hopefully it won't be raining as it has been for the last few days. And I mean it has poured. Later.

    you might want to shake up your program. Try the filling foods option to WW. After several weeks of that, you might want to go back to counting points. That might move the scale

    Congratulations on getting 10 points! Isn't quilting fun? I had planned on making several this summer, but I got too busy. I only got one made. I love your advice about being calm. I am battling high blood pressure and am trying to find that calm state. It's a great goal :)

    I need 144 points for a new trophy, and I am determined to get it today! 10 points on the wheel certainly helped me too :) Now I have to go do some crazy cardio so I can max that out :) Good luck with your plateau! The view from mine is lovely but I'm ready to climb down.

Thought you would like to see our photos from Armed Forces Appreciation Day! First is my hubby and Kimberly Locke, second runner-up in season 2 of American Idol. She was delightfully nice!

The second is me and Taylor Hicks, winner of American Idol season 7. Look very very closely at Taylor Hicks. Does he look stiff?

The concerts were fabulous. Unfortunately the rain showed up and it was a downpour. The limited crowds were still wowed but it was not a moneymaker for the chamber unfortunately. The best band was 1964 which is a Beatles look alike band. And they were fabulous!!! Paul McCartney even played a left hand guitar and John Lennon looked like himself. FAB Four for sure! Enjoy!

    Oh I'm so envious of this fun time you had. I'm an avid fan Of American Idol, and of course The Beatles!! Looks like Taylor Hicks is a bit dehydrated though.. heehee! emoticon

ARMED FORCES APPRECIATION DAY! DAY 253

LEARN TO BE CALM AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE HAPPY!

Today is Armed Forces Appreciation Day in Fort Walton Beach, Fl! WE live in an area with 2 large active military bases, a large reserve base, an Army Ranger Unit and multiple other military venues! Thus,we appreciate our miltary in many many ways! So Today is AFAD and the chamber of commerce is putting on an event at the local Fairgrounds to honor our military and veterans. Entrance is free for military, active and retired and their families. The entertainment is awesome! Taylor Hicks, American Idol winner in Season 7 I believe is the headliner!!! I loved him! Kimberly Locke who was season 2's third runner up behind Clay and Ruben puts on a show before him. We also have the AF Reserve Jazz Band and a group called 1964 that does a Beatles Show! It's going to be a wonderful and entertaining day celebrating our military!

Unfortunately, rain is programmed at an 80% likely chance. It rained cats and dogs yesterday and it is likely to put a huge damper as this is an outdoor event. I'm supposed to sell beer at an outdoor tent. So now the powers that be are deciding on what to do, probably move it inside the building that doesn't hold as many people. What a shame as they worked so hard to get this organized!

At any rate, our military will appreciate the effort. Yesterday my husband's job (he works for the chamber) was to go to the airport and pick up Kimberly Locke. He has a white T-bird convertible with red leather interior and that is what he drove. He said she was delightlful and he learned so much about the ins and outs of American Idol land Simon Cowell, etc. I hope it doesn't rain too much and the show can go on.

Thank a Service man or woman today. We owe a lot to them! My husband and I are both retired from the Air Force Reserve! Have a great day!

    I was a military brat and we've had lots of servicemen in our family! You bet I'll thank a vet today and thank you two also for your service. It's great to let them know they are appreciated.

    Thank you for taking the time to bring this to everyone attention all too often we only think of them when something happens or we need them. My son is in the National Guard and has spent time in Afghanistan but we are fortunate he has returned to us safely, however I do not think any of us ever let them know enough how much we appreciate them. emoticon

    Thank you for your service to your country. My son is active duty AF stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB. Daughter in law is AF reserve. I hope the weather cooperates for your festival today. These are usually wonderful events for families to attend, and for our younger generation to learn about service to their country. That's how my son became interested - we attended many air shows and he began to take a real interest in the aircraft.

GETTING ORGANIZED! DAY 252

LEARN TO BE CALM AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE HAPPY!

I have a LifeCoach coming to my office today to help me with organization. We are trading decorating for organizing. I know what to do, I just don't. I haven't completely downsized my operating system from owning a building and having several employees. That system isn't necessary for me anymore and I've done nothing to streamline it except pile papers on my desk and the floor around me. I've got 6 perfectly good file drawers filled with stuff that isn't necessary and the important stuff lies around. I'm reallly good at helping others but when it comes to me, oh well. I'll let you know how it works.

I need to do a lot of organizing because we are going to be doing some major renovations to the house and how am I going to work in that mess? I already have a mess. On to my day!

STUFF TO THROW OUT THE WINDOW! DAY 251

LEARN TO BE CALM AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE HAPPY!

The first STUFF I am throwing out the window is my computer. It is soooooooo sloooooooow!
It's taken more than an hour to boot it up and get it running. So I am on the other computer in my office which my hubby uses. Why so darn slow?

The next stuff I'm throwing out the window is myself. My granddaughter's birthday was Tuesday and we forgot to call. Mainly because I took her shopping and already bought her bunches of clothes a week ago Saturday and this past weekend, we had a birthday celebration for her and the two grandsons who have birthdays soon. So I guess we kind of thought we already celebrated but that is no excuse not to remember to call her. So hubby has the duty of sending a card today as Sat she has her real b-day party and we cannot attend it either. Our names are mud for sure.

The third thing I'm about to throw out the window is dieting. I am sooooo tired of getting on the scale and not losing. Nothing I do seems to work. I'm not eating enough so I eat more. I'm eating too much so I eat less. I'm changing up my food to trick myself. I'm really tired of this and here it is day 251 and 8 lbs lost for the whole year and nothing happening. What's a body to do? I guess I'll just have to like myself the way I am.

I read another blog this morning and the person had lost 4 lbs. Good for her. Why isn't that happening for me? I'm not exercising enough for sure. I'm probably not eating enough of the right foods like veggies even though my points are within range. I dont know what to do. I'm not quitting but I'm not losing either.

Last night we went out for dinner. I had a tossed salad with balsamic vinaigrette. I had pecan crusted trigger fish, steamed medley of veggies, and rice pilaf. I had half and brought the rest home for lunch. I fell down by having 1 lite beer and 2 rolls with olive oil dipping sauce. Yesterday I attended a morning meeting and then headed off to visit with 4 clients. I didn't get home until 2:00 and had not had lunch except an energy bar and 2 cheese cubes at a clients house. I had 2 oz of brunschweiger on sandwich rounds and then off to dinner. I guess this way of eating just isn't going to do it.

Now at 2:00 I was really pooped out and I didn't accomplish much the rest of the day. Couldn't concentrate. My next effort is to actually try to join a WW meeting and keep it up but our schedule for the fall is already ramping up with activities. This Friday evening alone we have 4 invitations and can only do one of them. And all day Saturday is taken up with Armed Forces Appreciation Day which I will blog about later. I am working in the beer booth for 3 hours.

So that's it. I'll take any and all encouragement and kind words you want to throw at me. Later.

    You should definitely stay the course !
I agree with what SDTALLY just said.
Keeping active is such a great way to get the numbers on the
scale to move down !
There are so many things that a person could do !
Taking the aerobics classes at Shapes is a fantastic way to get a good workout,
and burn about 500 calories or so. There's also Jazzercise, or any kind of dancing...
Some people like to run, or jog, for exercise. I enjoy swimming, especially because
it is always cool in the pool ! And then, you are more free to eat (within reason !),
because you have burned off so many calories ! I consider all the swimming I do,
to be my hobby, and it does so much good for me !
I think I'd be lost, without it !
I hope that you can find a sport you can " call your own", that will help you on your SparkPeople journey !

    Aww - you sound down. Maybe with fall coming you will be able to settle down in a "normal" (hehe) routine.

Only thing I can add is that maybe you should up the exercise. I know that every time I've tried to loose and thought I could do it just by food (and not exercise) I have not been successful.

    I've not lost a lot of weight this year. I gain and lose the same lbs and never seem to get ahead so I can relate. I'm going to keep on though. They are offering Weight Watchers meetings here at work beginning in September so I'm going to try that. Anything that might help. Hang in there. Keep Sparking, get firm with yourself and you might be pleasantly surprised. Good luck. We can do it. emoticon
