UP 2 LBS AGAIN! DAY 107

Monday, April 12, 2010

YOU CAN'T LOSE WEIGHT AND KEEP IT OFF WITHOUT CHANGING YOURSELF!

Oh, well, as usual I was up 2 pounds again after a weekend of traveling and being away. But that's not all that bad. That 2 lbs goes up and down so I will work on the down part again this week. Would certainly like it to be permanent and then some. I came back to 93 e-mails from the weekend! A chore to go through them all. Don't want to miss anything important from Spark. My next weekend away is May 6-9 when we go to D.C. with our son and his wife and 2 grandsons. I need to make a good Spark effort prior to the trip so I can see some more results. Then we are back a day and then off to New Orleans for the annual Decorating Den conference where I always eat too much and drink too much but this year I will be thinner and healthier looking and I will get many complements from all my friends and I will spark everyone.

My race/walking has waned a bit as I was unable to go at all last week. And I am already starting out Tuesday with a social event. We go to all these social events because it is good for business and until I am ready to retire, I need to keep it up. Besides, I have lots of friends and contacts at these things. There will be a lot of homeshow people at this one so I need to go.

I need to reset some goals for Spark and review procedures. We have the most beautiful azaleas blooming outside my window right now. I should take a picture and include it here. The azaleas this year are tremendous, all over the neighborhood. Due to a later spring I guess and lots of rain. Can't wait for my hydrangeas to appear.

My eating plan for today is to do well and stay within my calorie range. Grocery shopping is necessary as well. I'm back into rediscovering quilting and crochet. I have a plan to start making purses from fabric scraps and sell them on etsy.com. We'll see how that turns out. Good plan but time? Until later.

On the plus side, when you go to DC you could end up doing a lot of walking, while sightseeing and so on - so that will help. As for losing the same two pounds... eventually, you will lose three, so even when you gain two of them back, your overall effect will be one pound lost. And you will keep on doing that, a little at a time. You know. Like a emoticon.

I hosted a baby shower over the weekend. I had 2 pieces of cake and 2 cupcakes, plus Oreo's. That's not including the party food. So I was up a pound this morning. I am trying to concentrate on the things I did good. I did eat some healthy meals, and I did exercise.

I didn't follow it this weekend, but when we have to have something, remember the first 3 bites are the best tasting. So try and eat only the 3 bites and that way you are getting what you want, but not as much.

GOOD FOOD CHOICES! DAYS 105, 106

YOU CAN'T LOSE WEIGHT AND KEEP IT OFF WITHOUT CHANGING YOURSELF!

Well, I'm back from the District Barbershop Convention and Hubby's group won their division! So exciting for them. I enjoyed it for the most part but it can get fairly tedious listening to quartets singing the same songs over and over. We had to eat out of course and it is tough but I tried to make good food choices. The first day, we went to an Italian Restaurant for dinner. I chose a greek salad with spinach pie and didn't eat much of either. The spinach was full of salt and the salad was more than my stomach could handle. The next day at lunch, we went to Hooter's and I got a grilled fish sandwich, ate the fish and the coleslaw and left the bread, pickle, lettuce tomato and fries. My stomach has shrunk I guess because I got full and could not eat anymore. We had stopped at McDonald's on the way over for a snack and hubby got a sausage biscuit and I got the apple yogurt fruit snack. Wasn't I good.
My food likes have really gone toward the healthy. I guess after 106 days your tastes are likely to change. Don't know about weighing in but I'm satisfied. I didn't overstuff myself but I did succumb to two ice cream cones. I'll be back tomorrow.

Attagirl! You really have made healthy progress, haven't you? I know what you mean about the salt - I've never been much of a salt-person to begin with, and I never cook with it or add it at the table, so I can really taste it in food. It annoys me no end when restaurants insist on salting food heavily in the kitchen. What are they trying to hide? Poor flavor? Poor quality? Or are they using 'pre-prepared' foodstuffs and the salt is already in 'em? A good chef using quality ingredients will let patrons decide when, if, and how much to salt--! IMHO

p.s. Oh, yes, congratulations to your husband's quartet! So do they do on to a national competition next?

AS TIME FLIES! DAY 104

YOU CAN'T LOSE WEIGHT AND KEEP IT OFF WITHOUT CHANGING YOURSELF!

Where does the time go? Here it is almost mid-april and it seems like the year just started. I will be whizzing by until the end of May, barely checking in but I'm commited to blogging so I'll do my best. If you've been reading my blogs for a while you know I have clinical depression and in January, tried to adjust some meds with my docs help. It didn't work and I can basically write Jan and Feb of this year off as not having accomplished much. Now I am back up to full throttle with energy to spend and enjoying life.

We will be on the way to Jacksonville today to a district Barbershop competition. Ever sit all day listening to groups sing barbershop? If you don't like it, you won't like it. It can be tedious but hubby's group sings at noon and then we will be free until night time. And I've really learned to appreciate and enjoy it.

I wrote a couple days ago about my passion for fabrics and am looking at quilting and sewing again, especially since my granddaughter wants to learn. Last night I went to Joann Fabrics and bought yarn to crochet a new afghan. I like to crochet while I am car riding. The only thing I can do and not get sick. I finished my last afghan in January and gave it to my daughter-in-law's sister and now I have one more sister to go. Takes me about 3 years to finish one as I don't work on it unless I am driving somewhere or get really bored. I also bought a book on how to make purses and bags out of fabric scraps. Now that is inspiring to me and I can't wait to get out the sewing machine and start making one. The fun is in the design and use of fabrics. Even if I never made one, I enjoyed reading the book and visualized doing it. I see myself setting up an account on etsy.com where people sell handmade items and organizing a group in my church to submit items to sell. And donate funds back to the church. A lot of ideas and dreaming. I even cleaned up part of my office yesterday.

I made a nice decorating sale this week and that will keep me going for a while. If I could just have a few clients to work with that would actually do something interesting, that keeps me going. I'm finishing up with 3 really good clients and it is sad as they become friends and I rarely see them much after the job is finished. Sometimes, it's a year long process.

I've achieved perfect attendance on Spark all year and earned 500 points each month. My goal is to go the distance this year doing the same each month. I've been lax about nutrition tasking so I need to get back to it. Now lets see, 500 points divided by 30 is only 16.66 points a day. Now I can do that. I need 250 by April 15. I can do that. How about a challenge. All my friends, can you get 500 points this month?

Don't know if I can blog tomorrow but I'll be back on Sunday.

My daughter used to sing with Red Rose City Chorus; she was in a quartet for a while, as well. I think the barbershop harmonies are amazing - especially as I don't know that I can sing a single note on key, lol... Ever heard of a (men's) quartet called 'Old School'? I could listen to them for hours! :-)

I'M FULLER FASTER! DAY 103

Thursday, April 08, 2010

YOU CAN'T LOSE WEIGHT AND KEEP IT OFF WITHOUT CHANGING YOURSELF!

I had a busy morning, went to a chorus presentation that my granddaughter was in. She was happy to see us. And we were happy we went. Went to lunch at a local bar-b-que place and had a pulled pork sandwich with potato chips. Only ate the pork part and a few chips and I was full! What's more, they had homemade lemon meringue pie and I didn't order it because I was so full, there is no way I could eat more. And I'm still full. Same thing happened last night at another restaurant. Ate about half and brought the rest home. I guess my stomach is shrinking. A few months ago I would have eaten everything on the plate. Feels good not to. Today is rainy and very humid. You don't know humidity until you've lived in Florida. I quite like it most of the time but today is really muggy outside. I want to turn on the air conditioner to dry the place out.
Busy with a new client. Yea!! Tomorrow.

I'M WAY BEHIND AND OTHER STUFF. DAY 102

Wednesday, April 07, 2010

YOU CAN'T LOSE WEIGHT AND KEEP IT OFF WITHOUT CHANGING YOURSELF!

SCREAM!! Boy, that feels good! I'm way behind in everything, playing catch up. My business has picked up, guess it is spring, and pulling together fabrics, and furniture, and window treatments takes a lot of time. When I'm busy with clients everything else goes to the wayside. I ought to take a picture of my office and post it but I'd have to get the camera and relearn how to post a pic again which takes time I don't have. I shouldn't even be spending time blogging but I am comitted to it. One task at a time, just do the most important one first.

Last year, I subscribed to a weight loss coach whose name is Marna. Her website is www.thinwithinu.com if you want to check it out. Anyway there is a woman who writes books and articles about losing weight and her name is Geneen Roth. I read her book WHEN FOOD IS LOVE years ago and it makes so much sense. Now she has a new book out titled "Women, Food, and God" and Marna is offering a free book study on Tuesday nights. All you have to do is get the book and read it and participate on Tuesday nights on her website. I will be buying the book because I like what Geneen Roth says and I read her articles when I find them. You can google Geneen. I won't be doing the book study as I could never fit it in and Tuesday is American Idol night and Dancing with the Stars and walking at 6:00. I skipped the walk last night as I was so tired from decorating and trying to price my project.

I still have to find time to watch a video blog from my company about social networking on facebook. Have a great day!

Now that's interesting - yours is the second blog I've read today that mentions Roth's book. PonderThis (Anne) also wrote about it. If that's not a sign for me to check it out, I don't know what is, lol...
